it does have a rather interesting location for the rear DOT side marker lights but I guess it keeps em dry !
Would I have issues registering the car in NV?
@BlueridgeMB. Good point about VT For VT......do they make you bring the car to the DMV office or at least go in person to the physical office? (ie tough for someone in CA). I was reading their site recently and I thought it at least required a person to go to physical DMV not do remote (whereas south dakota and MT is by mail / fax / email only)
@ProdigalPetrolHead You can always go the Vermont route, even Easier then Montana..no shell corp required, cars old enough will only require a bill of sale, some taxes paid via check and a couple of forms. Keep your title and get a VT licence plate and reg back...:)
@alwaysabid the original two-piece Brabus wheels will come with the G. The Yokohama Geolander tires on the Brabus wheels have around 85% left, the original Brabus-branded spare tire cover is also included. Let me know if there's anything else I can answer as we near close.
Do you have the original tires and wheels still by any chance
@ProdigalPetrolHead It will cost you a lot more than a few hundred bucks to title out of state and bring it in California. !) CA DMV has been actively hunting down all the Montana tags and you will be in huge trouble with fines etc. 2) Ask a lawyer what will happen if you are insured in Montana but get in a big accident with los of life in California. Just sayin, its not as simple as people think.

@W124tony The G was federalized in 2003 and since then it has been legal to drive or register anywhere in the USA ( I believe that CA is not on that list because of emissions ). I have a clean GA title that can be tranferred to any buyer. The previous owner had it registered in MT and there was no problem to register the vehicle in GA.
@clau73 great car, color and love the upgrades. One question - I just noticed in the description that the car was imported in 2003. Any idea how the original owner legally imported the car to the US in 2003? Any issues with registering or titling the car in the future in certain states? Back in then, I think the earliest production year you could import into the US was from 1978 or earlier (25 years). I imported an MB wagon from Japan in 2019, but was limited to 1995 or earlier. Thank you!

Buyers in CA worried about emissions may want to spend a few hundred bucks to title out of state?
@Clau73. Good work showing the lockers actuating, much better video. did they have any trouble turning off? (sometimes they can get a little sticky if not used often, nothing major) BTW if you want to do a "useable" overland build then stick with G500 or G550. G550 with correct progressive rate springs, 33-35" tires aired down to 12-22 psi, running boards removed, and maybe a front winch bumper is about all you need to do 99.9% of any trail in USA. Rock sliders and rear bumper that can support weight of car nice options but not required. @Jdugally As a 49 state gray mkt car it would take hiring on a CARB certified conversion and testing lab in order to go thru the process. The cost is about $8-14k depending on who you use, and timing. I say timing because pricing is not set in stone and when demand is higher we see higher prices asked and longer wait times.
@Jdugally Unfortunately as a Georgia resident I have no idea honestly. Maybe someone from California could chime in if they know?
@MSerpe @alwaysabid New video uploaded of the lockers engaging. I did my best here for what that's worth. I could feel the difference in the wheel and behavior of the truck as the lockers engaged and disengaged. So all of this to say, they are working based on the more accurate testing today. Thanks for the guidance and I hope this helps!
@Clau73 What would it take to get this thing legal in CA? Thank you
@Clau73 Any chance you can follow up to MSerpe’s questions? Thanks
Just found your site, I love this rig. No mention of the webasto heater. Does it still work? Really interesting options on this rig.

@heyedweirdo I decided to purchase a 2014-16 G550 or G63 to built as an Overland vehicle. This 1993 Brabus G36 is too rare and unique for me to drive across the country for my rock climbing and fly fishing trips. It rides and it drives a whole lot better than when I purchased it and it looks great with a nice and suble combination between style and ruggedness.
What brings about the quick sale so soon after purchase having so heavily invested in the modification and maintenance spending?

@Clau73 Video does not show lockers engaging. Hitting the buttons and getting orange light only shows nothing. In order to actuate lockers, you need to be on loose ground only. First you activate center and get it to lock, meaning, the red light on the right of the switch will light up, and your ABS will be shut off. Now you are in 50/50 split mode and you will feel it (heavier steering, but better pointing and tracking of front end on turns in loose material, etc). Then you actuate rear locker, orange light first, then (while rolling as slow as the truck goes) you allow to engage, and red light will show on right of switch. Then you will be able to really feel difference, dragging in the back on turns in the loose, but major forward traction. Lastly, you test the front. This will seriously take away steering ability, so you do it while going straight. Same thing, its not locked until you see red light to right of switch, then you will feel incredibly difficult steering resistance. You are now triple locked. Do the reverse order to take off the system, turn off front first, then rear, get them to be off entirely, then center, no lights, you will feel difference back to normal split and unlocked diffs. Reshoot the video. Just trying to help as it appears who whomever demonstrated in the video does not understand how the car functions. Flushing the locker hydraulic system is required every 3-4 years, as is changing the diff and t-case fluids, that is why I had asked before. Answer in regards to dealer doing maintenance that appears needed would be irrelevant as these don't appear unless empty or fluid is black, so with out a record, in order to benchmark, all fluids should be flushed.

1. Can you confirm if the paint is original and add pictures of paint metering? A. Unfortunately I don’t have a paint meter but all of the paint matches perfectly on each panel with no signs of fading and no rust. 2. On the driver door I see a few things that look to be scrapes or dents. One middle mid way and another above the door handle. Can you add close up pictures on those. A. Photos uploaded. No dents at all around the body. Any scrapes are very minor and detailed in the walk around video. 3. The driver door leather shows white marks on the bottom left corner. Are these worn marks or stains? This is also on the rear driver side door and rear seats. A. A few small and very minor wear marks, mostly seemed to be conditioner from detail but two small blemishes outlined in the walk around on the drivers door card. 4. Can you confirm if the wood console is cracked and any other cracks in the interior area? A. Center console has some cracks as detailed in the photo gallery and the walk-around video. Note around the hazard switch and below shifter surround. 5. Does the sunroof slide properly? A. No, this is the only non functioning item. 6. Does the AC work well? A. Yes, blows ice cold with no issues. 7. Does the heat work well? A. Yes, blows hot with no issues. 8. Do all electronics inside work along with all lights inside and out? A. Yes, all lights function properly inside and out as well as all electronics. The preheater is not connected. 9. Can you provide a video showing that all differential locks engage properly? A. Video uploaded of lockers engaging and they work with no issues. 10. Can you provide a driving video? A. Driving video has been uploaded. 11. Can you add pictures of the roof? A. Yes, photos of the roof have been added. 12. Can you provide more underside pictures of the frame and underside of the engine? A. Yes, additional photos have been added to the gallery. 13. Have things in the service manual been addressed? A. As far as maintenance, I only have receipts for what I’ve had done at Blue Ridge MB which are in the gallery. While there’s no records prior, I had Blue Ridge MB address any items that appeared to need maintenance now or in the near future to ensure the G drives perfectly. Lockers have been exercised and work great. The transmission fluid/filter and brake fluid were both flushed recently. This G has obviously been well-maintained even prior to my ownership and there are a lot of items on the receipts in the gallery from Blue Ridge MB. 14. Has the wiring harness been checked out (1993-1995 very problematic due to plastics used at this time). A. This W463 is CIS, no CIS cars had harness issues while LH and HFM equipped cars did. 15. Two other questions that came up was whether or not the front and rear driveshafts were replaced or their u-joints when the vehicle was fit with the thor springs? Are there any vibrations felt at various speeds? A. While it wasn’t done under my ownership and not on the receipts from Blue Ridge MB, this G is regularly on the interstate and no odd vibrations are felt from acceleration to speed. I hope this helps- it's a very nice and very unique G.
Additional photos and videos have been uploaded of the G and are viewable in the gallery.

Beautiful. Too bad there is no way of getting this registered in California without spending an extra $10-15k for CARB certification.

Have things in the service manual been addressed? The below are the normal service items, nothing overly crazy, that are needed on every G every few years. ie: flush diff fluids, flush t-case fluid, lube knuckle housings, lube and balance driveshafts, re-pack CVs on center cardan shaft, axle outer seals and bearings, and has the wiring harness been checked out (1993-1995 very problematic due to plastics used at this time). Diff locker system flush and bleed, and sliding lockers excercised? Power steering box adjusted? Coolant flushed? Replace with appropriate MB coolant ? Transmission flush and filter? Thank you for insights on these so we can know what to budget for. Great looking truck and fairly special Brabus package. GLWTS
Any more pics of the underside? Do both transfer cases work?
I LOVE those rear jumpseats
