Congrats to @tenthwave! You got a great deal. Will be in touch shortly.
10mins to go and RESERVE IS OFF! @benzman @brett @Bluechipped @TupeloTwin @cashcow10 @herlofs
@JNicholsonNo need to be envious as it could be yours BECAUSE.... I AM PULLING THE RESERVE ON THIS CAR! That's right - this car will find a new owner TODAY! ALSO - for any bidders in the metro ATLANTA area - I am willing to deliver the car there for FREE as I have another MB being serviced in ATL that I need to pick up soon. So I'd be willing to bring it to you in the Atlanta/Alpharetta area (from Savannah) free of charge! Happy Bidding through the final hour and congrats to the soon to be new owner!
We're into the FINAL HOURS of the auction and getting close to the Reserve so there's a very good chance this amazing car will sell today! Thanks to all of the bidders who have participated thus far. I'm here to answer questions throughout the end of the auction if anyone wants to send me a message or comment here. REMINDER TO NEW BIDDERS: The clock resets to 2 minutes with each new bid placed in the sub 2 minute range (this prevents sniping and ensures a fair opportunity for all parties to bid). Also, MAKE SURE your credit card information is updated on The MB Market site!!! Otherwise, your bid will not go through and you could miss out! THEREFORE, If you were waiting to make your FIRST bid in the final minutes, it would be wise to place at least ONE BID in advance to ensure your card is working. It would be a shame to miss out just because of an expired/outdated card. Thanks again and good luck to everyone!!!
@MDPensfanTotally Agreed. I hate to let her go but its sad to let it sit while the warranty ticks away unused.... One more addendum for all bidders: Since Carmax generally doesn't inventory cars that are more than 10 years old, this will most likely be the LAST OPPORTUNITY to buy a W221 S65 AMG with the heralded Maxcare bumper-to-bumper warranty. A lot of enthusiasts - like myself - feel that these 221s are far superior than the tech heavy W222 models and represent the end of an era for flagship V12 MBs. So if you've ever dreamt of daily useable, worry-free S65 ownership, don't miss this opportunity! Thanks for all the bids so far and I'm available to answer any bidder questions between now and Thursday. Good Luck!
I shot a quick video demonstrating the APPLE CARPLAY & Custom Magsafe mount functionality in the car. This demonstrates how the OEM functionality is fully retained while total APPLE CARPLAY integration is also featured with this invisible customization. Have a look at the video and let me know if you have further questions. Thanks!
One thing that isn't mentioned in the writeup - but I will have added - is that this car is equipped with SPLITVIEW. One of MBs coolest options in recent years. If you aren't familiar with SPLITVIEW, Mercedes describes it as follows: "SPLITVIEW is an innovative dual-viewing technology that brings a new level of safety and infotainment to motorists. Using the large COMAND screen at the top center of the dashboard, SPLITVIEW allows the driver and front passenger to view two different displays -- in full-screen -- AT THE SAME TIME. For example, the driver can view the navigation system, while on the very same display screen, the passenger (looking from a different angle) is watching a movie. To dramatize this technology, a person sliding across the entire back seat from left to right first sees the navigation map. Approaching the middle of the seat, the screen goes dark, and continuing to the right, the movie image comes into view. An eight-inch COMAND display in the center of the dashboard features a backlit active-matrix TFT-LCD screen. Two sets of pixels can be displayed, and a mask on the screen filters out one set or the other, based on viewing angle. The COMAND controller determines the driver's content, while the passenger uses a dedicated remote control. The passenger also has headphones to ensure the driver isn't distracted by a movie soundtrack." I've also posted a third party video demonstrating SPLITVIEW to be added to the auction as well.
@zachmac Its in Savannah. Registration is MT. The listing description is correct. Thanks!
@herlofsuse the "Message Seller" button to shoot me a private message with your phone number. Thanks.
@herlofsThere's a few inches of rash on one wheel. Its not much at all....will post more photos of the wheel today. If the original reserve is met/exceeded I'll have it repaired for the winning bidder. I have a great wheel guy here.
@jllgdHello. Thanks for your questions. The cost to transfer the Maxcare warranty is either zero dollars or $50. It depends on the state of residence for the new owner as to whether a charge is required.. In any case, its nominal. (All of this info about Maxcare is available online if you google it, btw) I believe the car had about 31,XXX miles when I purchased it. I would love to post a VMI but I do not have one, unfortunately. If someone can help me get one that would be great haha. I'd be glad to post it! I hope that helps - thanks!
@Bankrep40As per my comments below, this is a CARMAX Maxcare warranty. This is the same warranty that Doug Demuro made famous on his Range Rover that paid out tens of thousands via the dealership over his ownership. If you check out my prior comments, you'll see I've previously sold a similar S65 with the same warranty that was easily transferred and dealer utilized, etc. Its a 5-year 100k-mile warranty that would exipire around April/May 2028 or 100k miles. Thanks!
@mikelacaSure thing. The OEM features exist unaffected by the Carplay unit. In essence, its an android box that is installed in the dash and exists as a ghost interface on top of the existing OEM MB tech. The box is easily removable if one wanted to go back to stock. I have it set to start as Carplay automatically but that setting can be changed. In that instance, just hold the "END" button for calls on the steering wheel for 2+ seconds to switch between OEM functionality and Carplay. Ive owned a few W221s and this is the best integration of useful carplay without sacrificiing any OEM features whatsoever. Again, its easily removable by pulling the disc changer and uninstalling the android-based box...but it works so well, there's no good reason to if you have an iphone. If you only wanted to use it occaisionally, just change the setting to not connect carplay automatically and the car will start up in OEM every time...with the option to use carplay when you hold the "END" button on the steering wheel. Hope that helps! Thanks.
Welcome to my S65 AMG auction. I wanted to mention that I had the pads and rotors inspected and measured before I bought the car to make sure they were well within spec and not in need of near-term replacement before I purchased the car in May. I'll see if I can find the measurements but, needless to say, I would have required them to be replaced prior to my purchase if they'd been anywhere close to end of life. So bid confidently knowing there is plenty of life left in the pads/rotors...and a brand new set of Pirelli P-Zeros to melt away at your leisure! :)
@Piantanida48Note also that I sold my previous warrantied S65 AMG (2010) here a few years ago to a very happy buyer. The warranty was easily transferred and utilized by the new owner without issue. As for this example, I thought I'd keep this one for the long haul but I'm moving back to NYC full time and it doesn't make sense to keep it if I'm not going to be driving very much.... https://thembmarket.com/2010-mercedes-benz-s65-amg-w-35k-miles-and-a-5-year-100k-mile-bumper-to-bumper-warranty
@Piantanida48Thanks for your question. This is a Carmax Maxcare warranty which is an exclusive (as opposed to inclusive warranty). I'll try to find the contract itself but, as with ALL Maxcare warranties, it covers EVERYTHING except consumables and interior wear items. Consumables being brake pads, etc...things that naturally are consumed by use of the vehicle. The benefit of this type of warranty vs. others is it doesn't need to be included in the contract to be covered, just not EXCLUDED. So, night vision, turbos, complex suspension system components: all covered as they are not consumables or interior wear items. This is the second one I've owned under Maxcare and the warranty has been incredibly beneficial. Moreover, because these cars are so complex, they must be serviced at an MB dealer...so there's no risk in Carmax trying to take on the repairs "in house". They don't even have the necessary STAR system to diagnose, let alone service these beautiful beasts. Thanks!
This is my old wagon. Out of the 7 or 8 S211 AMG Wagons I've owned over the years this was perhaps the cleanest one. I regret having sold it and can attest to the quality of this example. The low-profile crossbars and OEM roofbox make it really stand out. Don't hesitate to bid on this one if you're looking for an S211 AMG. You won't be disappointed!
That "Not Built to US Standards" line appears on the Carfax for many "Euro Spec" cars when title is passed to a new owner, but only in certain states. Take a look at the Carfax for the 1989 260SE Euro Auction that sold on this site a few days ago. When that car was sold/titled in VA in 2012, the Carfax reports the "Not Built to US Standards" line because its a Euro-Spec car. When the car was later sold to Texas, that line was NOT reported. Irrespective of the designation by CARFAX, the car was legally titled/registered/driven in both states without issue or regard for the line on the Carfax. While the Pullman is not a "Euro Spec" car, it would - in my opinion - likely also qualify as not being built to US specifications due to the length, rear facing seats and various other specialty built and extravagant Pullman features that were not available on any other US spec W220 of the era. That is to say, it passed the rigorous FEDERAL US highway safety standards by the USDOT, but when it goes to the state, a box is ticked noting its status as a car that had not been originally built to US standards. If that were a problem, it would seem to me that the cars would not then get issued titles and registrations, but we can see where that happens on many imported cars that share the same Carfax reporting line. The car is presently titled in California and the State noted that its a non-US spec car when title passed (just like with the 1989 car in Virginia). However, its been declared federally road legal and road legal in the state of California as per the DOT forms and the issuance of a CA title. I cant speak to CA emissions b/c I'm not very familiar with that system, personally. Just my two cents....but it just seems like a disjoint/discord between the Federal and State bureaucratic reporting systems. Hope that helps.
@sumofall@mwren @Gene_B - I have to agree with sumofall... that regulation does not appear to apply to private sellers. Obviously everyone should perform their own due diligence/research, but its hard to imagine that ANY car with a modified exhaust has to be refitted or it cant be sold. A simple cursory search of private vehicles listed for sale in the State will show that there are HUGE numbers of cars with modified emissions systems offered for sale publicly. So either it applies only to Licensed Texas car dealers, or this is the most weakly-enforced regulation in the Lone Star State.
@InThe90069Yes. Just like every other major auto auction site, any bid placed in the last 2 minutes extends the clock for another 2mins. Its all in their HOW IT WORKS/FAQ section at the top of the page.
@RBBrookeGot it - thanks!
@rbbrooke how long ago was the bumper resprayed to remediate rock chips? Photo 26 shows damage and rock chips...so was it resprayed after these photos were taken? Thanks.
@motox can you clarify if the ratting/clanking sounds in the video are from the suspension or from the camera/camera mount....? Thanks.
@gsxrThere's a date-stamped (7/1990) "Certificate of Installation" from MB in the gallery (photo 124) listing the original AMG body kit items that were installed at that time. That, along with the other AMG paperwork leads me to believe it was installed by AMG Germany prior to being shipped to Jordan for the original owner.
I'm pulling the reserve!!! THIS CAR SELLS TO THE HIGH BIDDER TODAY!
@Max33Thanks! Its a fantastic example
One hour to go! I'll be standing by to answer any last minute questions as needed. Sad to let this beauty go, but I know it will go to a good home here on @thembmarket. Thanks and good luck to all bidders!
@Mikeyy39Great question! That VMI entry is from when I took it to MB Greenwich before driving it from Connecticut to GA and I wanted them to just look everything over before the long trip. I stayed in the area for a couple of weeks after purchasing the car/before the drive down to Georgia, so I just wanted to make sure everything was tip-top before such a long trip. They apparently entered "suspension concern" as a placeholder for what was essentially "put it on a lift for me and go over everything because I don'[t want to end up on the side of I-95 in the middle of the night" haha. For the record, everything looked 100% when they did the inspection and the car was absolutely flawless on that long trip down the eastern seaboard. I haven't had a single issue with the car - at all - under my ownership and wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross-country today . Its a fantastic example with no squeaks or creaks, etc. Hopefully the interior driving video illustrates that too. Thanks again for the question and good luck to all bidders!
@UncleScrooge69I uploaded a bunch of underbody photos and some underbody video taken on a 360-degree camera. Hope that helps....thanks!
@Vlad600selhaha. Yes, but the entire balance is due on the first month 😂
@UncleScrooge69Sure thing. I'll get some undercarriage pics today and have them posted to the listing. Thanks!
@mtbemailThanks for your question. Sure thing. I'll be able to check that for you on Sunday night/Monday morning when I get back in town. In the meantime, if it helps, page 3 of the VMI shows that MB of Greenwich installed both 285/30/19 and 255/35/19s in December of 2021. Have a look in the gallery for the full VMI report. Thanks!
Hi Everyone and thanks for the bids thus far. A little background on my love affair with the AMG wagon(s) over the years: I've owned every iteration of the AMG wagon: a 2005 e55 AMG, five S211 E63s (07-09), a 2019 E63 and now this one. I have to honestly say this has been my favorite so far as it represents "peak" AMG wagon, in my opinion. The 2019 was insanely fast, but it felt so much bigger than the prior generations (more like an W220 S-Class than an E). Additionally, the window height in the new generation makes sight lines less than ideal...especially with the giant wing mirror boxes. The original S211 is, of course, fantastic, but this S212 is an improved upon version of that platform with the same overall size, feel and just enough tech to make it feel modern (unlike the S211). The result is one of the best possible daily drivers out there, no holds barred. Add in the Escort MaxCi 360 Laser/Radar system and you've got a killer daily weapon at your disposal...all wrapped in a subtle, classy, "under the radar" color combination :) I'm regretfully selling it because I recently acquired two other AMGs this year and need to make room for them. Its been a wonderful, wonderful wagon for me and I drove it from CT to Georgia when I first bought it without a single hiccup. Best road trip ever! haha. With that being said, I encourage you all to bid with confidence because this is a stellar former CPO example with amazing dealer service history and a just completed "two-step" paint correction and ceramic coating that has less than 10 miles on it. So the car looks and performs like nearly new. if you love the original S211 wagon , you'll simply fall in love with the face-lifted S212. And this being the last year model, its the "one to have". Happy to answer any other questions during the rest of the auction that bidders might have. Thanks again and Good Luck!
I've owned six S211 AMG wagons (63s and 55s) and two of these E500 Wagons over the years and - I've gotta say - the E500 wagon might be the absolute best bargain (and most slept on example) of any MB on the market right now. As a 2006, this is the one to have...even though you could only get them for a couple of years. The smart money is all over this thing...M113 V8, AWD and S211 Styling...all for way less than half the price of the AMG counterpart. (Did you see the $46k sale of the Grey one last week?) Take it from a longtime S211 fanatic...don't sleep on these E500 wagons. They're absolute champs and extremely reliable in context. Good luck to all!
@ProdigalPetrolHead Thank you!
@heyedweirdoI mean, it wasn't $12k ;)
Down to the final half hour and I'm here to answer questions as needed. A reminder to any new bidders: make sure your credit card information on file is updated/correct so you don't miss out on any last minute bids. I've seen that happen before so better to be prepared. This is an excellent example of a superbly special sedan. I know the next owner will enjoy it for many years to come as both a reliable, efficient MB and a wholly-unique, custom-optioned cruiser. Good Luck to everyone and Thanks!
@Will140Correct! There’s a “hidden” 6 disc changer in the console as well as a door-covered cassette player above it.
I used a Bluetooth wireless cassette adapter which actually worked great. Not sure about audio options beyond that but it’s definitely a great cruiser (with much better mpg than my M120-powered 96 w140). Thanks!
@Will140Thanks. You may very well be right about that. It’s a 10-speaker system (as per the original window sticker) but not sure if they were produced by HK or not in 2003. For what it’s worth, the stereo sounds just as nice as the HK w211’s I’ve owned. I never really loved the digital EQ on the HK surround option systems, personally.
@Toby1iaThank you! The color combination and overall condition of this car is really outstanding. Probably the best W211 example I've ever seen. The Montana plate was put on as decoration for the photoshoot simply because it says "W211" (which is the chassis code for this model) and the black plate looks more attractive. The car has no affiliation with Montana...apologies if that was confusing. Yes, the car is currently located in southern Georgia with a clean Florida title. Feel free to reach out to me directly by clicking the "message seller" button if you have questions/would like to discuss further. Thanks and Good Luck!
@amgproThanks. Not a dealer. Just a fast wagon addict ;) haha.
@amgpro@RufYellowBird (This is actually an M156, not an M157). I've made this comment before on other W211 E63 postings but I'll repeat it here because I think its relevant: In my experience, I think the head bolt issue is entirely too overblown. I've personally owned six of these E63 wagons (2007-2009) and none have ever had head bolt issues. These cars ranged from very low mile examples (20k) to 150k+ miles and never once were head bolts a problem (and none were ever replaced). Frankly, I had more issues with other things like camshaft position sensors, etc. but that's all relatively manageable stuff. With such a small percentage of cars being impacted by backing-out or failing head bolts, I personally don't see it as a necessary predicate to ownership or an absolute imperative to fix following acquisition. Good for peace of mind, perhaps... but the percentage of failure is just too small, all things considered. Again, this is just my opinion based on my ownership experiences - and some may differ than mine - but wanted to throw my .02 in there. Good luck with the auction...this one looks really killer 😎
Back to Toronto from whence it came, appropriately. A perfect circle for Milton.
30 minutes to go! Hopefully Milton finds a loving new home for the next 40 years! Good luck!
@BPB726Thanks for bidding!
@AR80sCedesThank you. Going through and sorting all of the paperwork from a bunch of haphazard stacks into annualized, sequential binders was a massive undertaking...but it turned into a labor of love rather quickly as I got to know the car (and the owner) through the paper trail. Dealer receipts are one thing, but what's so interesting about this car is the personal notes and letters located in the files as well. Things like Christmas cards to his mechanic thanking him for working on the wagon that year... or letters dictated to his secretary informing the insurance company that his son would be driving the car on a spring trip one week in April of '87... or the lists he would make (seemingly at the beginning of every other month) noting all the things he wanted to have looked at on the car next or what was still outstanding, etc. It was a borderline obsessive relationship that Milton had with this car, but having all of that storied history in black and white makes owning this car a very personal experience in many ways. I hope it goes to someone who will appreciate that aspect as much as I have. I'll be standing by to answer questions at the end...Good Luck to all!
@PCampThank you! Sounds like you have the perfect twin to this special wagon. To clarify, the drivetrain on this car is original (same block & Trans numbers) but they've each been rebuilt twice over 40 years. I definitely agree that having the detailed history is invaluable in knowing what a 40-year old higher-mileage car will need in the future. You're 100% right that the ability to avoid the inevitable guesswork is worth its weight in gold. Thanks for the kind words!
@lakers91325Thank you! I absolutely agree and am hopeful it goes to the right person...but no matter who wins, I have no doubt they will be extremely pleased with the car and its wonderful history. A real treasure, for sure.
@Vlad600selThanks Vlad! Petrol Green Metallic is one of my all time favorite colors. You're a man of good taste! haha.
To imply that this car is suddenly going to become useless because of the balance shaft issue is a bit irresponsible, in my opinion. Its an issue to factor into the purchasing decision, for sure, but the comments here are emphasizing the issue in an outsized manner relative to the problem. If the failure rate were higher, these panicky comments would make sense, but it simply isnt the case. Given the percentage of produced engines that actually manifest the balance shaft problem, I don't see preventative repair as a necessary predicate to ownership or an absolute imperative to fix following acquisition. Its certainly good for peace of mind, perhaps... but the percentage of failure is just too small - all things considered. This is similar to the M156 Head Bolt concern which, personally i feel is similarly too overblown. I've owned six E63 M156 cars between 2007-2009 and none have ever had head bolt issues. These cars ranged from very low miles (20k) to 150k+ miles and never once were head bolts a problem. Frankly, I had more issues with other things like camshaft position sensors, etc. but that's all very manageable stuff. This example has traveled 43k miles over 15 years without issue...if the balance shaft issue were so deadly, why has this car not been afflicted yet? Cooler heads should prevail here. Do your research, don't be spooked by people who spend too much time gossiping on forums and budget for necessary repairs depending on how you will personally use/drive this car if you win it. Thats all. Good luck to the seller....this seems like a really nice example.
Congrats to @sdman2378 !! That was some exciting bidding action at the end. Well done and thanks to all who bid on this great SL!
Less than an hour to go on this truly excellent SL. Thanks to all of those who have reached out to me directly with questions. I'll be standing by to answer questions here for the remainder of the auction. Good luck and Happy Bidding!
Hi Everyone. Just wanted to say a little bit about this awesome SL to any interested bidders. This car has truly been maintained with an "open checkbook" by my father during his ownership. As you can see from the records, anytime the car needed any service or preventative maintenance it was taken directly to the dealer (even for smaller/cosmetic items like a curbed wheel). The records from the prior owner (as well as the VMI) indicate the same was true for prior owners as well. The car operates beautifully and he's only selling now because he purchased a new Mercedes wagon for daily driving duty. @chdavis - I took a few more pictures of the infotainment screen and will have The MB Market upload them to the gallery today. There's a small amount of partial fade on the LCD but the orange/discoloration you noted from the photo in the gallery is definitely a weird angle. Everything on the infotainment/Nav screen works as intended. I hope the additional photos will help clarify that for you and any other bidders. Please feel free to reach out with any comments or questions and I'll be happy to assist however I can. Again, this is a very clean and extremely well-maintained example with all the right options for the period. Thanks and Good Luck!
@chdavisThanks for your question. I believe that's just the camera angle. The infotainment screen/navigation operates just fine. The LCD is not quite as bright as it was when the car was brand new, obviously, but not distorted like that photo makes it appear. I'll try to snap some additional photos of it this weekend and have them added to the listing to clear up any confusion. Thanks!
Personally, I think the head bolt issue is entirely too overblown. I've personally owned six E63 cars between 2007-2009 and none have ever had head bolt issues. These cars ranged from very low miles (20k) to 150k+ miles and never once were head bolts a problem. Frankly, I had more issues with other things like camshaft position sensors, etc. but that's all very manageable stuff. With less that .01% of cars being impacted by backing-out or failing head bolts, I personally don't see it as a necessary predicate to ownership or an absolute imperative to fix following acquisition. Good for peace of mind, perhaps... but the percentage of failure is just too small, all things considered. This looks like a gorgeous example...GLWA!
Congrats to @barkford! You got a killer deal on a very nice SLK. I know you'll love it.
One hour to go! Im here to answer any additional questions through the end. Bid with confidence - this is an excellent, original SLK with all the right options, history and service. Good Luck!
@kk120 - Thanks for your question. The CF trim is in excellent condition. No cracks, delamination or imperfections that I can see anywhere. Have a look at the close up photos in the gallery which hopefully shows how nice the CF trim looks. Thanks and happy bidding!
Good morning everyone and welcome to the final day of the auction! I’ve received a lot of direct messages from bidders asking specific questions about the car so I thought it would help to share some of that info with the rest of the group before the end of the auction: The car has been serviced thoroughly and the misfire that was noted in the service records is completely cured following the replacement of the MAF sensor and the coil pack/plugs. Accordingly, this SLK drives/performs perfectly and has no discernible needs, no leaks, no fault codes, no check engine or other lights and no other outstanding/evident issues whatsoever. To be sure of this, I had my mechanic go over the car thoroughly when we corrected the misfire and he did not find any necessary repairs or outstanding service items needed. These I-6 engines are incredibly reliable and are known to go forever with minimal repair/maintenance. The A/C works wonderfully and blows cold. The heater works perfectly and blows hot. The top functions perfectly, the windows work smoothly, and all other accessories function as originally intended. The clutch on this example is excellent and shifts into gear smoothly and confidently. Talk to any manual R170 owner (or just visit the SLK forums) and you’ll soon discover that clutch replacement intervals on these SLK230s is well over 100k miles… so there's more than enough life left in this one at only 62k miles. The car is registered, insured and on the road without any smog/emissions problems. The tiny I6 engine should have no issues passing California smog, in my opinion, but it would of course be wise to check for yourself if you live in CA. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions - I'll try to make myself available throughout the day to ensure I can respond to everyone. This is a really nice SLK with no known issues and will surely make the next owner very happy – so bid confidently! Thanks and Good Luck!
@macks7None that I know of. I never had the car professionally paint metered/measured but there are no accidents or damage incidents reported on the carfax either. Thanks!
One hour to go! Thanks to everyone who has bid so far and/or contacted me directly with questions. This is a gorgeous flagship W126 in an amazing color combination with low miles and many years of enjoyment to give. I'll be around to answer any questions in the final hour. Bid early and often - and Good Luck!
@civejaIts a gasoline engine... A 5.5 liter M117 V-8. Thanks!
@bnzl0vr168Thanks for your question. The car is located just outside of Roanoke, VA. Feel free to contact me directly through the "contact seller" button in the top right of the screen if you'd like to discuss logistics. Thanks and good luck to all bidders!
@AriBKTMU = True Mileage Unknown. The cluster was previously replaced.
@MBstyleI think the seller talked about the ABC system in a comment about two hours ago - take a look below: "No there aren’t any issues with the Active Body Control Suspension or components. The ABC Sport works wert well and the leveling functions as it should. No leaks or noises either. All is good. Happy bidding."
Less than an hour to go before the auction closes. I'll be here to answer any questions - Good Luck!
@pochochoI submitted the videos you asked for - Thanks!
@pochochoThank you. I should be able get the requested videos for you later tonight or tomorrow.
@Vlad600sel The listing says "selling dealer" so I believe he is.
@Homthtrnut2021that only applies to new car sales.
I have this exact same car with the 5-spd manual and can attest that they are an incredible value for the money. The Yellowstone over black is the perfect combo when paired with the sport package. Someone is going to be very, very happy with this pristine, low-mile example. GLWA!
This last second bidding action is 🔥🔥🔥
@DardhaThe whole Northeast/NYC metro area got hit with that storm but Roslyn Heights is on the North Shore of Long Island in Nassau County and the north shore is just about the highest ground area on Long Island. I used to live not far from there and can say that the Roslyn Heights area is much less susceptible to flooding than the south shore or other coastal areas of Long Island....so its extremely doubtful that the car was in any flooding danger, etc.
@ArmenianIt definitely has night view. The bluetooth puck for telephone isn't pictured, but you can stream also bluetooth through the stereo with a cheap dongle adapter. I did that in my S65 and it worked great.
Seller checking in with just a little less than an hour to go! Thanks to all of those who have reached out to me privately with questions on this amazing wagon. I've owned quite a few of these W211 AMG wagons over the years and I can say with no hesitation that this is the nicest example Ive had the pleasure of enjoying. The car presents like an example with half the mileage and performs like one as well. Along with the excellent (and hard to find) roof accessories, great preventative maintenance record and accident/damage-free history (with all original paint) this wagon is sure to both appreciate and be appreciated by the next owner. Good luck to everyone and happy bidding!
@BlueridgeMBThanks. I have no indication that the rears have been replaced in the records from previous owners. However, the fact that I haven't experienced any parking "sag" in the rear - even when parked for weeks at a time - makes me think that they've either been replaced previously, or they're an exceptionally well-manufactured set. Hope that helps and good luck to all bidders!
Hi Everyone, Just checking in here with about an hour to go until the auction closes. I'll be around for the duration of the auction to answer any last minute questions, but wanted to say thanks to everyone who has bid so far and/or contacted me offline to discuss the car. As I hope is clear from the detailed listing, this is really a spectacular and immaculate example of the best flagship AMG sedan that Mercedes could possibly produce in the 221 era. The ceramic pro coating and xpel PPF make it worry-free and useable for long trips or daily driving from a cosmetic perspective, and the warranty obviously does the same for everything mechanical. In short, I really do believe this is the best opportunity to own and enjoy a car of this caliber every single day without the worries that typically follow. And I sincerely doubt this opportunity will be repeated. I'll be proud to (hopefully) pass this on to a new owner who can actually maximize the use of that incredible 100k-mile warranty, but I'll most certainly regret letting it go almost immediately. Its been a true pleasure owning and enjoying this car of late, and I think I'll be spoiled on anything less than a flagship AMG V12 for life. Thanks again and good luck to everyone in the final hour of bidding!
@soopermonkeyThanks! I totally agree...to me, this really is an incredible example of peak "new-era" MB engineering. Yes - the Distronic Plus is what's known as "Full Spectrum" radar cruise control. That means you can set the cruise and it will keep you at a pre-determined distance from the car ahead of you (adjustable via the stalk) and will slow you all the way to a stop in traffic if the car in front of you stops. Even better, is that all you have to do it tap the stalk backwards to "resume" and the S65 will accelerate again with the car in front of you up to your pre-determined cruise speed. Perfectly seamless for stop and go traffic. This feature - combined with the lane-keeping assist and drowsiness detection - really is as close to "self driving" as you could get in 2010. And, frankly, its really all anyone needs (in my opinion) from a "self-driving" standpoint. Of course, if someone pulls in front of you or merges into your lane too closely, the car will also apply the requisite amount of braking force to avoid collision; which is great for peace of mind. I absolutely love the Distronic Plus feature and can't imagine owning another drive-able car without it. Thanks for your question and happy bidding!
@lionsfan54Now you're talking! Which laser setup did you use, btw? ALP?
@lionsfan54Thanks! I totally agree. Its definitely hard to let go of this one, but there's just no way I'll make full use of that 5-year, 100k-mile warranty...and it would be borderline criminal to let that insane benefit go to waste! haha.
@flinthillsThank you! The windows wear factory tint only.
Congrats @laurentiuD ! Well done!
Ladies and Gentlemen: The Reserve has been lifted! This wonderful car will find a new owner with today's highest bidder! Good Luck!
Thanks to everyone who has bid thus far or contacted me offline to ask about the car. I’ll be standing by to answer any additional questions over the next few hours. Also, it should be highlighted that this car comes with two working smart-keys (with freshly installed batteries) and it also includes the spare tire, unused jack-stand, original unused tool kit/roll, and a full set of additional fuses from Mercedes-Benz. All items are present and stored in their proper location under the trunk floor/liner. I can honestly say that this is one of the best-loved E320 CDIs I’ve ever seen and the immaculate condition and impressive service history certainly shows that. I have no doubt the next owner will be extremely impressed with it. Thanks in advance and Good Luck to all!
@BambooThank you! These E320 CDIs are really special cars. The last great MB diesel, in my opinion, and hard to find in the final year (2006) iteration; especially as a one-owner example. The condition of this car in particular is exceptional: For instance, note that the fabric driver's door sill is still like new (even at this mileage) because a cloth was kept draped over it since day one to prevent soiling from your shoes when entering the vehicle! Truly a well-loved car that has easily another few hundred thousand miles of life to give! Thanks again and good luck to all bidders!
Congrats @w116_036 !
Two minutes left! Thanks for all of the bids and questions so far. This is an excellent wagon that I will most certainly regret selling immediately!
@SmithrealThanks. The keyless go works perfectly on the shifter (for start/ignition) but the front door handles were only sparsely responding to the keyless entry function. I was able to get them working a bit better this spring but safe to say they’re only intermittently responsive. I almost never use the keyless (I prefer the fob) so apologies for overlooking/ not clarifying that previously. Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you - Thanks!
@MBCLEThanks. The ad states that the tires were added in 2018, not the wheels. Apologies if that wasn’t clear to you in the text. The AMG wheels were added under previous ownership and were on the car when I purchased it. I didn’t bother to ask the prior seller which year he added the wheels but I can reach out to him and ask if its something you’d like to know prior to bidding. Yes, the car did previously have PPF and I had it professionally removed prior to installing the Gtechniq ceramic coating in 2021. Finally, I don’t know what reported “malfunction” you’re referring to or from where you’re sourcing that information but happy to assist if you can provide more info. The car has no “malfunctions”, codes or other needs and has been an excellent daily driver for me. I have no doubt the next owner will enjoy it as much as I have. I hope that helps – Thanks!
@RaredanThanks! It truly is a great example and in impeccable shape. The recent ceramic coating really makes the paint look incredible with a deep, glossy luster. The only imperfections I could think of would be a couple of cargo loading "love marks" on the bumper (see photo #30), 1-2 parking lot door dings and some minor creasing (but not wear/tear) on the driver’s bolster bottom (see photo #110). Yes, I’m available to show the car this coming week if you’d like to set something up. I can be reached via the “message seller” button in the top right corner of the listing. I’m traveling for the holiday but please feel free to reach out to me directly through the direct message function. Thanks and good luck to all bidders!
@gimiconJust like the S55 that you commented on, this is also an ABC car. Not an airmatic suspension car. 👍
@gimiconthis is an ABC suspension car. Not an airmatic car. There’s an entire video by the seller all about the work they did rehabbing and servicing the suspension. Take a look at the video(s) in the listing. 👍
@Vlad600selNo problem - happens to the best of us. Just don't want someone here getting spooked off what looks like a nice example due to misinformation. 😎
@Vlad600selYeah, Vlad, that section in the middle that says "we found information on your vehicle...one accident" is an ad. If you click it, it takes you to some BS site called "EpicVIN" and asks for your credit card info. That's what's called clickbait. For example, I just ran the VIN for one of my personal cars through that site (which I know for a fact is accident free) and they said the same thing "one accident". LOL. You definitely got click-baited....
@Vlad600selWhat makes you now "not know" about this one-owner, low-mileage, dealer serviced example? Drop the link to this "vindecodez" report in the chat so the community can see what you're talking about. I have a feeling its not verified info and seems unfair to use unverified info to call into question the validity of this auction lot. So, let's see it...
@Vlad600selI trust the clean carfax report way more than "vindecodez" which doesn't sound particularly reliable. What sources do they draw their information from? I know Carfax uses, state, local and federal police & Insurance databases plus actuarial databases and private shops to compile their reports...I doubt "vindecodez" has a secret source for uncovering accidents that somehow went unreported everywhere else - lol.
@Vlad600selThis example is NOT in the affected range for timing chain issues, thankfully. The engine serial number on this vehicle ends with 31 914233 and the affected range for this issue was corrected for engines having serial number 30 468993 or higher. So you're in the clear with this one. Hope that helps and GLWA!
Wow! Last second thunder from @talden24 !!
@mrmarlonYou can't put bids in the comments, you have to sign up and bid through the website. Read the the FAQ/How it works page here https://thembmarket.com/how-it-works
@kovakas with the last second knockout from nowhere. Nicely done!
I guess people are free to run the price up on @nikolas now....lol
This is a TON of car for the money...about two tons, in fact. GLWA!
Personally, I think the head bolt issue is entirely too overblown. Ive owned six E63 cars between 2007-2009 and none have ever had head bolt issues. These cars ranged from very low miles (20k) to 150k+ miles and never once were head bolts a problem. Frankly, I had more issues with camshaft position sensors, etc. but that's all manageable stuff. With less that .01% of cars being impacted by backing-out or failing head bolts, I personally don't see it as a necessary predicate to ownership or an absolute imperative to fix following acquisition. The percentage of failure is just too small, all things considered. Beautiful coupe - GLWA!
Very well bought and sold - Congrats!
@Jbrauner with the last second heat!
Nice bidding action on this one - these E430s have been totally undervalued for too long...maybe not anymore? GLWA!
@aksharaminCongrats! Way to go!
@aksharaminYeah buddy! Nice job!
May wallet says No, but everything else in me screams Yes - you must own this! I cant resist.
@EuropeanCIt looks like the car is located in Atlanta, GA
Wow. This is a tremendous amount of car for under $8k!
Congrats - nicely done!
I have an E500 wagon in this same color (Everest Green Metallic) and its absolutely fantastic - totally variable in sun/shade and really looks handsome on the W211 body. Great car - GLWA!
Wow! That was incredible!! Congrats to @paulmarianetti & @thembmarket !!
Congrats! Well bought and sold!
Reserve is off! HERE WE GO!
We've got some good action on this one!
15 minutes left - Here we go!
I LOVE those rear jumpseats
@Greig1756 I think thats probably the case (that the car hasn't been driven much at all) but hopefully the seller will confirm. If you look at the carfax, the car hasn't traveled more that 1,000 miles in the last ten years (2011) so its not inconsistent for the car to have not moved much in the past five years either.
@Greig1756 Looks to me like MB of Pittsburgh inputted the wrong mileage on that single service visit. Ive had that happen on the reports for a few of my cars in the past, actually. Given the consistency of mileage in all 33+ other service records/mileage recordings (and the fact that its only 2k miles off), I would be extremely surprised if it were anything beyond that. Besides, it would be a very strange move to "rollback" a car only 2k miles. haha. Great color combo - GLWA!
@Dmitriyf1 It only takes two determined bidders to make for a positive auction result, so who knows?
@OliverPlante I actually love the factory pinstripe on 80s & 90s MBs. Its definitely a dated option but offers some nostalgic appeal, IMO. Its not difficult at all to remove, fortunately, but I'd keep it if it were mine. GLWA, Seller!
@M3INABUFU By comparison, the last known public sale for one of these AMG 3.4 Widebody coupes was approximately $150k USD in 2020. Mileage was almost identical to this one but it was silver/black and had been converted by AMG Japan, not AMG Affalterbach as here.
@internetholding Coming very soon...stay tuned!
@blakleyleonardSounds legit...

Good Luck!

Thanks!

Thanks!
