This 1995 Mercedes-Benz S600 was first registered in New Jersey and has resided primarily in Texas, then Missouri before going to the current owner in Florida. Finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) over a Black and Gray (561) leather interior, power is provided by a 6.0-liter V12 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 16″ eight-hole wheels, an Adaptive Damping System, a sunroof, soft-close doors, heated front and rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air conditioning, a factory Becker cassette stereo, rear roller blind, and a Bose sound system. Over $10,000 in service was completed on this example in December 2021 including an engine oil and filter change, brake and suspension work, as well as several air conditioning, ignition, and cooling system components as detailed below. This major service includes a 3-year/36k mile warranty on the work performed by Autos of Europe in Manchester, MO. Significantly, this W140 has had the wiring harness and both throttle bodies replaced under previous ownership. In August 2022 the AC compressor and receiver drier were replaced in preparation for the sale. This W140 now shows 100k miles and is offered at No Reserve with manufacturer’s literature, $10k in recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Missouri title.

The car is finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) with matching lower cladding and bumpers. Features include headlight wipers, an electric sunroof with tilt function, a power antenna, and a soft-close trunk lid and doors. The Carfax report lists no accidents or other damage since new. The seller notes that the original windshield glass has been replaced at some point and a paint blemish/scrape on the passenger corner of the front bumper is noted with specificity in the gallery.

This vehicle previously sold on The MB Market in August 2022 and is being re-listed by the same seller after the winning bidder failed to follow through with their commitment to purchase. This was not due to any fault with the vehicle, and the prior winner has been banned from bidding on The MB Market and their buyer’s fee was not refunded.

The car wears 16″ chromed eight-hole alloy wheels wrapped in 235/65 Michelin tires showing 2021 date codes. The Adaptive Damping System (ADS) and a self-leveling rear suspension reportedly functions as designed. Part of the $10,000 service in December 2021 included the replacement of the rear brake pads, rotors, and sensors, as well as the front wheel bearings, front ball joints, upper control arms, and steering idler arm.

The cabin is trimmed in Black and Gray leather (561) with black carpeting and floor mats, while burl wood trim accents the dash, center console, shifter surround, and doors. Hand-stitched seams on the leather interior were exclusive to the S600 variant of the W140 and present well in the gallery. Equipment includes power-adjustable and heated front seats with orthopedic backrests, heated rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air conditioning, a period correct carphone, an electric rear-window sunshade, and a factory Bose sound system. One of the rear window regulators was replaced in May 2021 and the seller reports that all interior functions operate as intended. In August 2022 the AC compressor and receiver drier were replaced in preparation for the sale at a total cost of $1,081.95.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel is mounted to an electrically-adjustable steering column and fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and instant economy. The six-digit odometer shows 100k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the selling dealer.

The 6.0-liter M120 V12 was factory rated at 389 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque when new. Factory wiring harnesses on W140s of this era were biodegradable so, significantly, this example has had the harness previously replaced along with both throttle bodies. Part of the $10k December 2021 service included a cooling system flush, replacement of coolant expansion tank and hoses, as well as the power steering reservoir and a power steering flush. The windshield washer fluid pump and trunk latch were also replaced at this time. In August 2022 the AC compressor and receiver drier were replaced in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. The transmission fluid and filter along with the differential fluid were last changed in December 2021.

This example has received an impressive amount of dealer-performed preventative maintenance work to the engine, mechanicals and electrical system. Detailed maintenance records and photos of the work are provided in the gallery.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage with linear mileage updates since new. Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with a tool kit and service records for work completed under current ownership.

The MB Market Insights

Prior to the M120, the only V12 to make headlines from Daimler was powering aircraft in WWII. Fast forward to the W140 and Mercedes-Benz had announced their first V12-powered passenger car. Capable of making more than 500 horsepower (with some Affalterbach feddling), the M120 quickly became one of the most recognizable engines in the industry making cameo appearances in the Pagani Zonda for more than a decade. The M120 really saw success when paired with the W140 S-Class and the pairing continues to be one of the most formidable combinations in luxury motoring almost 30 years later. Folklore aside, we love seeing this S600 presented with such detailed recent service and maintenance. With over $10k invested in keeping it up to S-Class standards, this S600 should prove to be quite the enjoyable example for the next owner to continue the story and the drive.
