It is the last hours of this Trasco 1000SEL auction, bid with confidence, you won't find one like this again! We are glad to help arrange shipment (Internationally) or pickup in Columbus, OH. We can store vehicle for buyer within reason. Good Luck!
Welcome everyone to this lovely Trasco 1000SEL auction. This car belonged to Harry Helmsley who is rumored to have owned 25% of Manhattan at one time including the Empire State building. He and his wife Leona lived on the top two floors of the Park Lane Hotel Central Park South which they owned on . These limos got their name from a Saudi prince who upon delivery of his 500SEL Trasco limousine said it was twice as good as a 500SEL and asked Trasco to badge it a 1000SEL. From then on, Trasco referred to any of their modified w126 cars as 1000SEL’s. Queen Elizabeth and Moon Jae-In are some of Trasco’s notable clients (see Trasco’s website). A similar Trasco Limousine was used in a 1992 Jackie Chan movie; Twin Dragons. This car received the full treatment from Trasco complete with power division window. German restrictions are very strict related to modifiying cars. Trasco is one of the few companies that is able to do so. Most limousines you would see state-side are cars that have been cut in half with a center section welded in. The quality of conversions are much higher in Germany; highest in the world. This car has been in active storage for the last 20 years; evident by its ’95 and ’05 date code Pirelli tires with like new tread. Still retains its euro bumpers and headlights. You won’t see one like this again, so bid with confidence!
@DrAMG No markings as this was one of Trasco's early builds, however the modifications being completed in Germany is evidenced by the B-pillar import tag which describes it as a limo. The interior work is all very high quality craftsmanship. I believe certain electronics may have been later added in USA. @Manskraft @Kcogliano Yes it went RNM ($22k) on the other site and we're giving it a go here.
It is the last hour of this gorgeous 190SL listing. This survivor is ready to serve her next caretaker for many years to come. All you have to do is enjoy it; everything is nicely sorted and ready to roll. An honest, rare, original specimen indeed. What Mercedes-Benz created, not Jim's Resto Shop. As with all of our cars we are glad to help arrange shipment (Internationally) or pickup in Columbus, OH. We are glad to store car for buyer within reason. Good Luck!
Another testament to the originality of this car; date codes on wheels are all 9/59. Photos will be added shortly.
@300SL Photo of door jamb data plate will be added shortly. It reads: MERCEDES-BENZ KAROSSERIE A121042-10-01492.
At the 190SL Group show two months ago, there were 3 concourse judges who looked at the car, Bob Platz exterior judged, Harrison Platz interior judged and Joe Alexander was the mechanical judge. This is a high point car from an originality standpoint. Nothing 'Mickey-Mouse', broken, or missing. This car has absolutely no rust or corrosion thanks to its 65 year old Zeibart undercoating. A very fine car inside and out that is ready to enjoy for years to come! As with all of our cars, we are glad to help arrange transport, or pickup in Columbus, OH. Can store vehicle for buyer within reason. Good Luck!
@parklandmb Photos of spot welds will be added to listing shortly. @handgemacht Agreed and thanks for the kind words.
This 190SL has local history since 2003 when it was inherited by the sister. Her brother had it the previous 30 years. It is a very nice original car that has been kept roadworthy and drives like a 75,000 mile original car should (title shows actual mileage). The car is super-tuned by marque expert (including original Solex carbs). Everything is nice and tight; no shakes, squeaks, rattles, clunks, grinds etc. No corrosion, very clean underneath. This car received Zeibart rust-proofing when it was new. The Zeibart company started in business that year and used a high pressure petroleum based spray into the frame cavities and guaranteed there work against any rust-through for the life of the car (See photo of Zeibart plug). This coating is about 10-12mm thick and also functions as sound-proofing from road noise. Has a full reproduction stainless steel exhaust system with all the correct mounting hardware. Engine compartment is very clean and all original and correct. Correct German canvas soft top and chrome strip in as new condition. Seats were restored by expert Mercedes upholsterer. Seat adjusters are complete and fully functional, (a common issue). Retains original rubber floor mats in beautiful condition. Chrome in very nice condition. Complete original toolkit. Trunk floor is clean and rust-free. Original operational 8-day wind-up clock. Original plastic-topped radio antenna. During refurbishment, fuel tank was replaced. In preparation for sale, we installed a new set of correct size whitewall tires. They don’t make them like this anymore. This is what Mercedes-Benz created by hand, not Jim’s Resto Shop. Here is the car displayed at the front of the '24 190SL Group annual meet in Granville, Ohio. Body/Chassis/Engine are all original numbers matching equipment. Body #121042-10-01492. Chassis #121042-10-014931. Engine #121921-10-014996. As with all of our cars, we are glad to help arrange shipment (internationally) or pickup in Columbus, Ohio. Can store vehicle for buyer within reason. Good Luck everyone!
@Slb0151 This is a factory roadster, without hard top.
@fastlp Congrats! Will contact you shortly.
@APSloan1 I’m not noticing anything to stand out like that.
@APSloan1 We had Renntech go through all systems and advise. They replaced the starter harness but deemed other harnesses to be in good condition. How would you tell if updated?
It is the final day of this lovely 500E. This car needs absolutely nothing but a driver. "Enjoy it while it appreciates." It is gone through top to bottom needing nothing and is ready to enjoy for many miles to come. Paint is in excellent condition. No rust or corrosion. Original leather is soft and supple. Interior in excellent shape. Not a sun-baked or molested car. All original without modification (other than facelift E500 oem items). Alcantara suede headliner in excellent condition etc. Original radio rebuilt by its original manufacturer; Becker. New items (all oem) from RennTech's recent $13k service: complete A/C system, spark plugs, exhaust hangers, speed sensors, valve cover gaskets, cam sensors, cam cover seals, oil level sender, oil, lower oil pan seal, trans fluid, trans filter, trans pan gasket, wiper blades, air filters, airbox intake tubes, cabin air filter, starter harness, shifter bushings, stop lamp switch, fuel filter, spindle bushings, control arms, tie rods, rear links, water pump, thermostat, coolant, 4-wheel alignment, belt, belt tensioner etc. We are glad to help arrange transport (Internationally) or pickup in Columbus, OH. Can store vehicle for buyer within reason. Good Luck!
41 photos showing trunk, undercarriage, $13,000 service receipt at RennTech etc did not make it through and will be added shortly so please look for those. @APSloan1 Date codes on tires are 2019. We installed the new Continentals and they have traveled maybe 25 miles. They have been freshly balanced even though there was no shake, vibrations etc. A driving video can be seen above and a cold-start video will be added shortly. Not sure of exact details but the late original owner's wife told us her husband was upset when they facelifted the 500E a year after he purchased it. He had the local MB dealer handle the install of facelift parts. No bodywork or paint work otherwise, car looks fantastic. No dings, dents, scratches, corrosion etc. This car is absolutely rust free and was clearly well-cared for over the years. We also acquired a low mile 500SL 6.0 RennTech from the owner, in immaculate condition as well. @StudioDude. @Schoenau We don't use paint meters anymore as they are too easily fooled. Paint is in excellent condition. @allenman @JoeyBenz08 When we dropped the car off at RennTech in Stuart, FL, it had no issues whatsoever, running perfectly, no lights, everything working etc. We requested that they go through all systems and give it anything it needs or may need in future. The RennTech guys are very well studied on these 'youngtimer' classic cars. The speedometer gears that were replaced were done so preventatively along with an extensive list of other items at a cost of $13k+. The speedometer/odometer etc has always worked; we have posted videos in 2019 and may of this year that confirm this and can provide if desired. @sirmathrocks Please see comment above. Everything operates as intended including radio, interior lights, rear shade, buttons, a/c, sunroof, etc etc. Absolutely nothing does not work. We spent $13k at RennTech to insure everything it needs or may need in future has been well covered. This is a fine car ready to enjoy whether on the road or in the garage. @Jim_Rosenthal Yes this is indeed a rare specimen having been cared for and loved by one man since new (prior to our acquisiton). It was also always serviced by the same local Mercedes-Benz dealership tech. We installed the Continental tires new and they have traveled few miles. Everything is tip-top ready to enjoy. A/C system was gone through by RennTech among other preventative items at a tune of ~$13k; they replaced the compressor and other related components. They are the absolute best when it comes to these cars.
Reserve is off! Someone is taking home a unique piece of automotive history!

@elie7elie Normally Aspirated (no turbo). You shouldn't have issues sourcing parts. MB does a good job stateside with euro spec cars.
@oldMB After research I am not able to pinpoint exact towing specs. It has a round 7 pin plug like most bigger trailers (photo added shortly). The bumper pull hitch is rated at 7,500 lbs. You can see the other weight rating numbers on the metal plate in engine bay. @kaelaranae24 Texas title @avemaria This is NA OM602 @Stathios You have the VIN correct. Unfortunately carfax is only for NA cars.
@DIY_DIESEL This vehicle has no rust. Has some surface corrosion underneath and on engine bay crossmember. No surface corrosion or bubbles showing in paint. Photos of sliding door area will be added shortly.
