This 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was reportedly longterm owned between a brother and sister for nearly 50 years prior to the selling dealers acquisition. This SL received a prior refurbishment in 2010 and was recently on display at the 190SL Group annual meet in June 2024. Recent service by a marque specialist included a 'super-tune' of the Solex carburetors and the installation of four new whitewall tires. Finished in White over a Black leather cabin, power comes from a 1.9-liter M121 four-cylinder paired to a 4-speed manual transmission. Features include paint matched hub caps with new tires, a paint matched dashboard, chrome trim, and a matching spare tire. The odometer displays 75k miles and this 190SL is offered by the selling dealer with the original tool roll and a clean Ohio title.
The body is finished in White and the car reportedly underwent a prior refurbishment in 2010. The replacement black soft top shows no major rips or tears. Features include chrome stone guards, restored brightwork, a driver's side mirror, and a black top boot cover.
Factory 13″ steel wheels with paint matched hubcaps are shown with new Bridgestone Silvertown white wall tires. A body-colored original full-size spare wheel and tire are shown in the trunk along with the original tool roll.
The cabin is trimmed in Black Leather across the seats, door cards, parcel shelf, and soft top boot. The leather seats were recovered at the time of the refurbishment in 2010. The paint-matched dashboard displays original brightwork for the switchgear and accents while the original ivory steering wheel and shift knob remain in place. Additional features include a Becker Europa radio, an analog clock, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.
The dual spoke ivory steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The odometer displays 75k miles.
The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four was rated for 104 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque when new and features a single overhead camshaft along with dual side-draft Solex carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission. The seller recently had the car 'super-tuned' by a marque specialist along with the installation of four new whitewall tires in preparation for the sale. The car is reported to be in strong running condition with no oustanding issues.
This 190SL is offered by the selling dealer with the original tool roll and a clean Ohio title. A driving video has been provided by the seller below.

It is the last hour of this gorgeous 190SL listing. This survivor is ready to serve her next caretaker for many years to come. All you have to do is enjoy it; everything is nicely sorted and ready to roll. An honest, rare, original specimen indeed. What Mercedes-Benz created, not Jim's Resto Shop. As with all of our cars we are glad to help arrange shipment (Internationally) or pickup in Columbus, OH. We are glad to store car for buyer within reason. Good Luck!
Another testament to the originality of this car; date codes on wheels are all 9/59. Photos will be added shortly.
@300SL Photo of door jamb data plate will be added shortly. It reads: MERCEDES-BENZ KAROSSERIE A121042-10-01492.

At the 190SL Group show two months ago, there were 3 concourse judges who looked at the car, Bob Platz exterior judged, Harrison Platz interior judged and Joe Alexander was the mechanical judge. This is a high point car from an originality standpoint. Nothing 'Mickey-Mouse', broken, or missing. This car has absolutely no rust or corrosion thanks to its 65 year old Zeibart undercoating. A very fine car inside and out that is ready to enjoy for years to come! As with all of our cars, we are glad to help arrange transport, or pickup in Columbus, OH. Can store vehicle for buyer within reason. Good Luck!
@parklandmb Photos of spot welds will be added to listing shortly. @handgemacht Agreed and thanks for the kind words.
This is the best 190SL ever offered on this site. There have been 5 others since the beginning in 2021 and 2 of them sold. One with the motor seized for $51K and one amateur restored for $130K. 3 others were bid to $80K, 90K, and $107K. Most examples offered for sale globally are a comedy of errors between the 3 "M's" of concourse judging; Missing, Misinstalled, and Mickeymouse. I'm really impressed with this car. It's either well sorted or lovingly preserved or both. You should do well. GLWTA

@ARI1 would you be able to take detailed pictures of passenger and driver side fender spot welds? They are very hard to see in detail in the current photo gallery. Much appreciated.

This 190SL has local history since 2003 when it was inherited by the sister. Her brother had it the previous 30 years. It is a very nice original car that has been kept roadworthy and drives like a 75,000 mile original car should (title shows actual mileage). The car is super-tuned by marque expert (including original Solex carbs). Everything is nice and tight; no shakes, squeaks, rattles, clunks, grinds etc. No corrosion, very clean underneath. This car received Zeibart rust-proofing when it was new. The Zeibart company started in business that year and used a high pressure petroleum based spray into the frame cavities and guaranteed there work against any rust-through for the life of the car (See photo of Zeibart plug). This coating is about 10-12mm thick and also functions as sound-proofing from road noise. Has a full reproduction stainless steel exhaust system with all the correct mounting hardware. Engine compartment is very clean and all original and correct. Correct German canvas soft top and chrome strip in as new condition. Seats were restored by expert Mercedes upholsterer. Seat adjusters are complete and fully functional, (a common issue). Retains original rubber floor mats in beautiful condition. Chrome in very nice condition. Complete original toolkit. Trunk floor is clean and rust-free. Original operational 8-day wind-up clock. Original plastic-topped radio antenna. During refurbishment, fuel tank was replaced. In preparation for sale, we installed a new set of correct size whitewall tires. They don’t make them like this anymore. This is what Mercedes-Benz created by hand, not Jim’s Resto Shop. Here is the car displayed at the front of the '24 190SL Group annual meet in Granville, Ohio. Body/Chassis/Engine are all original numbers matching equipment. Body #121042-10-01492. Chassis #121042-10-014931. Engine #121921-10-014996. As with all of our cars, we are glad to help arrange shipment (internationally) or pickup in Columbus, Ohio. Can store vehicle for buyer within reason. Good Luck everyone!
