A few notes highlighting the car: -Has a complete service history from each decade, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s would include service booklet records and then invoices, service records paperwork 2000s, 2010s, last owners late 2000 teens and then ours. -when we got it we did the following @ 81,795 miles: All new spark plugs, oxygen sensor, new fuel sending unit to correct fuel gauge accuracy. -Then @ 81,845 we replaced steering coupler and fresh power steering fluid refill. -newly restored factory 15 inch alloy gullideckel wheels installed. -The palomino leather shows excellent. -Body is straight and solid. -All the factory books and manuals included with the sale. -Original German Bosch headlamps and slim bumpers from the factory. -not easy to find all these items in order on an 80k mileage German market 500SL here in the USA. Most likely due to a DMV typo in prior registrations. Mercedes Benz Classic Center Long Beach has verified it left the factory in July 1985 with the build sheet. Thanks for the bids and first layer of cake guys! Remember this is a 500SL 107…not a 380,450 or typical 560. They are more wild and beastly! European delivered true 107.046 cars aren’t growing on trees out there like the other models and certainly were sparsely produced. While they had a production run of 1980 through 1989 there were far less. Approximately 11,800 500SL VS 49,000 560SL from 1986-1989. Thanks!

It has not gone through the ridiculous requirements CA mandates to have a European import like this registered in CA. @virafp I have no reason to believe they will not. Coming from a late model 560SL that has same set up as 560SEC wheels fitment from factory I would speculate green light there! Would look sick on a 560SEC by the way🔥

Hello Everybody! Wanted to check in with less than a week to go on this beautiful 450SL! It’s not easy to find these older 107s produced in the 1970s vs the newer 560, 380 USA examples. They are Older cars usually by more than a decade and quite simply far less are on the road for several reasons. The 1970s brought us interesting colors not found in the more down the middle palette of the 1980s and 90s. All the greens, yellows oranges and variations of blues were plentiful and certainly period correct. This fine example comes in Brilliant Red and exudes such style and presence. The contrasting black leather interior is sumptuous and still smells like a Stuttgart leather factory with the original excellent condition skins. The original dash has zero cracks and is in perfect condition (find it these days). Excellent carpet, wood and door cards. Original Becker in working condition with good sound. We replaced the older Michelins with new correctly sized Hankook tires that were mounted and balanced and ride wonderful. The Mercedes original issue black soft top is in excellent shape. The interior clearly shows a vehicle that’s been garaged its entire life. Overall this is a fantastic example we love and hope the next enthusiast appreciates it the same. Please make sure to review the underside pics and wheels off and note how clean it is suffering from no weather or outside elements. Feel free to reach out direct with any questions. We like this example for these following reasons: -highly original survivor. -paint meter readings show original depth numbers. -clean and dry car has not suffered over exposed UV and weather issues that can deteriorate quickly cars of this era. -mechanically sorted in many of the areas as a buyer you’d like to see. -good looking pretty color livery. -very well preserved clean interior nice original leather and carpet and headliner. Original dash and wood. -newer tires and restored wheels factory correct alloy Bundts are clean! -drives lovely, accelerates correctly nice strong motor pulls properly. Shifts smoothly. Braking and steering systems have both been addressed. Supple suspension rides smooth and quiet. -116 V-8 cars aren’t growing on trees because they were actually driven and used by their owners from new, unlike 450SL that was an extra car or a sparingly driven roadster. Finding them nice and sorted is not so easy to do. -our records of more than $4,500.00 are included and that work has been done for next owner. -all MB handbooks and manuals go with car. If anyone has questions or items they would like please don’t hesitate. These 116 V8 cars are special. It’s not easy to find them in good shape anymore. Unlike the 450SL that was more commonly owned as a vacation house car or 3rd vehicle the SEL was driven and daily driven more often so then the question becomes how many are left, not wrecked, not in a junk yard or not driven to death in 2023? @mcamp2000 The mileage was not an issue as your comment suggests. It is titled currently on a Virginia title as “actual mileage” in the last owners name. Let me know if you need any doc support. From our conversations with prior auction reps and our understanding from 2 owners back when it was sold, the tripometer got stuck and listing was then changed to TMU. The odometer was never effected. We have records leading up to that and after with mileage. For the record BAT is not a 50 state DMV agency nor is MB Market or any auction house for that matter and don’t decide TMU brands. The VA title and CA title prior are all clean no TMU brand. @mcamp2000 Just getting to these items as I’ve been in a car most of day. I can supply more close ups of dash if you need. If you are looking for a crack free perfect dash this one is not…there are a few (it is the original not a cover) and I believe with a little effort you should be able to zoom in better and see with supplied interior pics. There’s a white residue (maybe sticky glue) that was put on to hold something in middle dash it appears. Like adhesive we will try and get off. Can keep you posted. Also you are more than welcome to contact direct above and I’ll be happy to discuss and or if you’d like to have the car professionally inspected or you’d like to see it yourself that can be arranged for serious interest and bidding. If anyone has questions or items they would like please don’t hesitate. These 116 V8 cars are special. It’s not easy to find them in good shape anymore. Unlike the 450SL that was more commonly owned as a vacation house car or 3rd vehicle the SEL was driven and daily driven more often so then the question becomes how many are left, not wrecked, not in a junk yard or not driven to death in 2023? @mcamp2000 The mileage was not an issue as your comment suggests. It is titled currently on a Virginia title as “actual mileage” in the last owners name. Let me know if you need any doc support. From our conversations with prior auction reps and our understanding from 2 owners back when it was sold, the tripometer got stuck and listing was then changed to TMU. The odometer was never effected. We have records leading up to that and after with mileage. For the record BAT is not a 50 state DMV agency nor is MB Market or any auction house for that matter and don’t decide TMU brands. The VA title and CA title prior are all clean no TMU brand. @mcamp2000 Just getting to these items as I’ve been in a car most of day. I can supply more close ups of dash if you need. If you are looking for a crack free perfect dash this one is not…there are a few (it is the original not a cover) and I believe with a little effort you should be able to zoom in better and see with supplied interior pics. There’s a white residue (maybe sticky glue) that was put on to hold something in middle dash it appears. Like adhesive we will try and get off. Can keep you posted. Also you are more than welcome to contact direct above and I’ll be happy to discuss and or if you’d like to have the car professionally inspected or you’d like to see it yourself that can be arranged for serious interest and bidding.
