This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 240D has remained well-preserved in original condition showing just under 32k miles from new. The car remained with it's first owner until 2000 and was on showroom display at Gullwing Motors after that. The car was subsequently owned by two additional Mercedes enthusiasts including the most recent owner who acquired the car in 2010 and collects Mercedes diesels. Finished in Light Ivory (623) over a Palomino MB-Tex (154) interior, power comes from a 2.4L naturally-aspirated four-cylinder diesel paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include power steering, air conditioning, heated rear glass, fog lamps, cruise control, and an automatic antenna. Recent service in preparation for the sale includes new motor mounts, a transmission service, an oil & filter change, new drive belts, and a Virginia State inspection. This 1983 240D shows just under 32k miles and is offered with factory literature, partial service records, original tool roll still in the plastic, a factory car cover from Griots Garage, and a clean Virginia title.
The car is finished in Light Ivory (623) and features chrome-accented North American-spec bumpers and trim, factory yellow fog lamps, a power antenna, and an electrically adjustable passenger-side mirror. The trim, brightwork, and glass are reportedly original to the car and show in great condition. No rust is reported on the chassis or body and it’s been stored in a climate controlled garage since new. An original dealer-installed double pinstripe in dark green an red accents the body line on both sides, along with OEM rear mudflaps.
The original 14″ steel wheels feature chrome and paint-matched hub caps. The wheels are wrapped in classic style Vredstein Sprint T80 tires measuring 175R14 on all four corners. The factory spare is located in the trunk floor with the original tire and tool kit still wrapped in plastic.
The cabin features seats upholstered in Palomino MB-Tex (154) with matching Palomino door panels, carpets, and floor mats. The dashboard and center console are trimmed in black along with the steering wheel and shift knob. Zebrano wood trim adorns the dashboard and center console. Equipment includes climate control with factory air conditioning, cruise control, manual-wind windows, central door locks, and an original Becker Europa Cassette player. The seats and floor mats remain in excellent original condition along with the wood trim and dash which remain clean and free of cracks or fading.
Original VDO instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and additional auxiliary gauges include coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level which all function properly. The six-digit odometer shows just under 32k original miles.
The 2.4-liter OM616 diesel inline-four produced 67 horsepower and 97 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired to an automatic four-speed transmission. In preparation for the sale, new motor mounts and drive belts were installed along with a transmission service and fresh oil & filter change. Service records dating back to 2004 are provided and a major service in 2004 included a new steering damper, air conditioning system, front brake pads, a brake fluid flush, full transmission service, and rear differential service. Wow, what an absolutely stunning example of a w123, even the trim around the door window frames is in pristine condition. Good luck with the sale!
The condition is extraordinary ,and has been stored inside a climate controlled garage. Just had a service performed, oil change and trans fluid. Also replaced the motor mounts that were starting to dry out. MP
