Having driven a few cabriolet G Wagons, we can attest there are few cars on the road with more of a smile factor than one of these. The open air motoring while sitting in a properly high position is hilarious and has huge charm. The thoughtful restoration and tasteful additiions make this one of the better soft top's we've seen. While sports cars and AMGs are enjoyable, this is a car that will have you smiling more than pretty much anything live on our site.

Thank you everyone for your bids. A 1979 300GD with an original powerplant bid to 71k here recently. This is a whole other animal worth tens of thousands more. With that said, I made the reserve below our cost and close to the high bid just to make room for some new inventory. @jowen hopefully a deal can be made. Thanks all!
555 and 999....the bids are reflecting black friday big box retailer prices!

Posting here as someone just called our office asking about the motor and it it's comparable to the 300GD that was listed here recently. This is night and day. More than double the power. This G can actually drive on the highway and keep up with (and pass!) traffic. It's a far more modern and capable motor with all high end components. Inter cooled, the whole nine.

Someone asked about a sound system. We can install one, no problem. We can do a touch screen with apple car play, single din regular head unit,. all sorts of speaker options, subwoofer, etc. Of course this would be at an additional cost but very reasonable.

Under one hour to go! Thank you all for your bids thus far. This is such an awesome truck. I can say with confidence the owner will be VERY happy with it. The motor is a completely rebuilt 2.9 with a custom turbo. Electric turbo boost gauge and a completely customized turbo. This work is done RIGHT, not just a random turbocharged 2.9 thrown in. Our company does a ton of 250GD builds and this is my favorite of the powerplants. The restoration work to the body and frame were actually not done by us. When I purchased the completed car in Lithuania I sent it to the shop we use in Poland to have the engine/trans swapped and the AC installed. Rear gears etc all changed as well. This is one heck of a powerful Benz. It sounds like a jet taking off when you mash the accelerator! An engine/trans rebuild and swap like this costs over $30k euros. Again this is not some fly by night work that was done. The next owner will be very impressed and I have a bunch of photos I can share as well showing the rebuild. This car has a clean NJ title We are happy to assist with nationwide delivery at excellent rates To read a bit about what we do visit this link for Vantage Auto The Reserve which discusses our Defender and G wagon builds https://www.vantageauto.com/the-vantage-auto-reserve.htm If one were to commission this as a custom build with us the cost would be over $130k. The reserve here is a fraction of that number so someone would be getting an amazing deal! Good luck to all! Best, Andrew

@GoBoGo The motor has under 300 miles on it, as does the vehicle since the body off frame restoration was performed. Miles is irrelevant here but I will tell you that this was a military surplus vehicle (all wolf's were) that like most had incredibly low KM on it when purchases as surplus. The motor has all new components in it and is a true rebuild.
@Steeeve Unfortunately I will not be able to get that done prior to the listing ending as we've had everyone off since Tuesday. I can tell you this drives better than any other 250GD we've had in terms of power and drivability as the electronic 5 speed automatic is so smooth. The motor is an absolute powerhouse!

I can only imagine how good this thing looks with the rear top down. what a dream build, very well done

VERY Tasteful build! If I didn't have one of these, I'd be bidding. Good luck!
This is so cool! Sorry I'm not a bidder but I am curious how hard it is to remove the roof, etc.? Photos would be an amazing add? Curious if you had any idea about the original mileage on the frame, etc. Again, this is super cool; someone is going to buy a fun toy! GLWTA!
Welcome all to the auction of this awesome 1991 250GD. I can promise you this is one of the best driving examples you will find anywhere. So here's the history of this one. I purchased this vehicle with the cosmetic/restoration work already done from a shop in Lithuania. I then sent it to Poland where I have a team of guys that do incredible G wagon work. We do our own full blown restorations but in this case our team did just the mechanical work and added A/C. The suspension was modified when the work in Lithuania was done as well. When I purchased the car it had the original inline 5 non turbo diesel. This was swapped out for an OM602 which has been FULLY REBUILT (I mean fully), a larger turbocharger installed, custom exhaust, and of course the 5 speed electronic automatic gearbox. This motor generates gobs of torque and the acceleration is pretty amazing...this is all with keeping the boost on the low end believe it or not. We added air conditioning as well which works perfectly. There is currently no radio in the car but we can of course add one of your choosing. I am confident this is one of the best 250 GD's you will find on the market. Please let me know of any questions you have. This 250GD has a clean US title. It will not pass CA smog. I am happy to assist with nationwide delivery. I can also assist with any modifications you might want to make to it as well. The powerplant is the game changer here. Yes you will find others that have swapped engines. I have been around these cars for a while and have driven/owned those with engines swapped by others and have experienced an incredible amount of issues. This work is done the RIGHT way, not the cheap way. I look forward to a great auction and to hopefully working with a new owner 10 days from now! Best, Andrew
