This 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250SE Cabriolet 4-Speed is an U.S. example that was originally finished in Papyrus White and lived in Arizona and California previously. The first owner kept the car for nearly 40 years and it’s reportedly 1 of approximately 950 examples built between 1965 and 1967. The Cabriolet is finished in Light Mint Green paint over Parchment Leather and powered by a 2.5L M129 Inline-6 paired to a 4-speed manual transmission. Features include U.S-market headlamps, added lap belts for each seat, a black soft top, Zebrano veneer throughout the cabin, and a power antenna. More than $30k was spent under the current owner’s care in refurbishing the fuel system, adding electronic air conditioning, a refurbished Becker head unit with Bluetooth, and more. This 1966 250SE Cabriolet is now offered by the selling party on behalf of the current owner with recent service records and a clean Florida title.
While this Cabriolet was originally finished in Papyrus White, it was repainted in a Light Mint Green under prior ownership. Exterior Features include U.S headlamps, OEM brightwork, a power antenna, a black soft top, and a Parchment tonneau cover. Minor blemishes in the brightwork are noted along with a chip in the windshield. Additionally a dent in the right front fender is shown in the gallery.
The original 14″ steel wheels wear paint matched hubcaps in Light Mint Green and polished beauty/trim rings. Cornell whitewall tires measuring 195/75 at all four corners are shown with closeups in the gallery. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at each corner. The brake fluid was flushed and the steering coupler and damper replaced under current ownership.
The cabin is trimmed in Parchment Leather across the front and rear seats with Zebrano veneer featured across the dashboard, center console, and A-pillars. Matching replacement carpet is featured with contrasting lining and a refurbished Becker head unit now features bluetooth connectivity. Most notably, electric air conditioning was installed by Unique Cars of Palm Beach, a renowned Mercedes-focused shop. Aftermarket lap belts are installed for each seat.
The refurbished two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames gauges that include a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and readouts for coolant temperature and oil pressure as well as an inoperative fuel level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows nearly 10k miles, approximately 600 of which were added under current ownership. The odometer should be regarded as TMU.
The 2.5-liter M129 inline-six features Bosch mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 150 horsepower and 159 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Just over $30k of upgrades and service has been performed under the current owner’s care and includes a new electric fuel pump, a serviced fuel-injection pump, new fuel injectors, and a new battery. Photos of recent invoices are included in the gallery along with underside photos.
