A lot of M180 engines in the day fell victim to overheating which warped heads making these motors kind of hard to come by over 60 years later. Luckily these engines are easy to work on, especially with the twin carburetor setup, and are more robust with modern coolant which doesn't cause internal corrosion issues. The seller did a fabulous job of dialing in the difficult to tune parts of these motors (we’re talking about the points system) as finding a shop with an oscillator to tune this kind of ignition system is getting hard to find. The zinc plating, transmission service, rebuilt carbs, fuel pump work, and everything else creates a very well presented engine that’s ready to pop into a car. We love seeing original, well serviced motors instead of ones that have been torn apart and rebuilt from the ground up. They just tend to work better this way…

@Quadster Probably would have been good for them to get a bit involved during the auction. Pretty tough to find these stateside esp.$550 bid placed by @Doogles
The shop selling this engine has been servicing my 113 for 30 years. They are Mercedes specialists and only work on 1971 and earlier cars. They do numerous swaps of modern Mercedes drivetrains into vintage Benz’s. Probably the reason this one is for sale. You will be getting a great running engine that has been gone through as this shop strives for perfection in everything they do.$500 bid placed by @GRR21
