This 1984 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC is a European-market example that was ordered new at the Hamburg branch in Germany. The car features a full authentic AMG body kit, steering wheel, and 16″ Penta wheels which are believed to have been fitted when the car was new in Germany. Finished in Classic White (737) over Blue leather (252), the car is powered by a 5.0-liter M117 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a sunroof, heated front seats, power windows, and air conditioning. Recent work completed in 2025 included replacing the exhaust system, distributor cap, spark plugs, battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel tank. Now showing 81k kilometers (~50k miles), this C126 is offered with manufacturer’s literature, spare lights, a premerger AMG trunk badge, recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The car was finished from the factory in Classic White (737) with monochromatic trim by AMG. The body is fitted with a full authentic AMG body kit with appropriate stampings. Additional exterior details include Euro-spec bumpers, fog lights, a power sunroof, and a power antenna. New amber front corner lights and OEM tail lights were recently installed and the spare sets will be included in the sale. The seller states the hood and trunk lid were repainted around 2010. More recently in 2024 the bumper covers and trunk lid were refinished. Detailed photographs of the exterior finish and trim are shown in the gallery below. A paint-matched premerger AMG trunk badge is also included and pictured in the gallery.
Geniune 16″ AMG Penta wheels feature paint-matched white centers with polished lips and are fitted with newer Radar Dimax tires that were mounted in 2025. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs with ABS. A brake fluid flush was performed in 2025.
The seating surfaces are upholstered in Blue leather (252) with a matching blue dashboard, door cards, and carpets. Amenities include power windows, an electrically adjustable passenger side mirror, heated front seats, and air conditioning which has been converted to utilize R134a refrigerant. The seller notes the Kenwood radio, clock, and cruise control to be inoperative.
The four-spoke AMG steering wheel by Italvolanti frames AMG-branded instrumentation including a 300-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for instant fuel economy, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The fuel level gauge is noted to be inoperative. The six-digit odometer shows 81k kilometers (~50k miles).
The Euro-spec 5.0-liter M117 V8 was rated at 228 horsepower and 299 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Recent service in 2025 includes the installation of a replacement exhaust system, along with a new distributor cap, spark plugs, battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel tank.
The Carfax report shows first entry in November 2006 and lists no accident or damage history. This 500SEC comes with manufacturer’s literature, spare lights, a premerger AMG trunk badge, recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title.

This car is a diamond in the rough. Takes a trained eye to recognize it but this is the perfect period-correct SEC AMG to drive and enjoy. If I didn't already have two SEC's (one which is white over blue like this) I would be all over this!A question was asked about the timing chain, transmission and trim. WE checked the timing chain, it was good. WE checked and serviced the transmission, redlines all gears smooth shifts, no vibration bakes or drive line . The monochromatic trim is correct on this car. the glass had to be removed and reinstalled, the side and chrome molding's as well. It is very expensive to disassemble a cars trim, put the monochromatic trim back on. The only ones that would do this in the 80's was AMG. The trim work is excellent.$18,000 bid placed by @MBLOVER0320

There were different variations of the AMG gauges depending on when, where, and who built the car. This appears to be an authentic cluster from what I'm seeing. It also seems to be properly aged with the car which is also another telltale sign.A question was asked does it have the AMG badge on the trunk? It was not installed when the trunk was refinished but it is painted in white and will be with the car when sold.thank you@neil it’s similar but different. Note the font lack of shift points and styling between the two.Good Morning, Barry Taylor saw this car he was friend of mine, he said it was done at AMG but without documentation it is difficult to prove. . He bought out the inventory of AMG North America and his collection was eventually sold on the Bonhams sale https://www.bonhams.com/press_release/38397/. It is interesting to note that the instrument cluster is similar to the newly listed 5.0 AMG on this site.$13,000 bid placed by @Jaspare

Good morning, I had a question about drivability. The car starts up goes thru its cold start as normal. Acceleration is smooth and transmission shift points are correct. Under full acceleration since being a European version it pulls stronger than a 560SEC. Brakes are excellent, tires are new and no pulsations or vibration. No smoke on startup etc.@DrAMG Well, in my experience it is hard to be so definite about such details with amg stuff of this period, especially on EU cars. But I'm not a doctor. Sometimes it might be better to keep your diagnoses to yourself.@MrJagger I would not point out for a correction if I was not sure. There are few things off with the speedo, besides the very skinny font, original AMG speedometers do not have shift points. This is not intended to put down the car, rather than being accurate with the description. The car does look stunning and all the other main AMG parts seen look authentic. The way the car presents itself, I do not see any problems having interested bidders competing for it.What a nice car. The claim that the cluster is fake seems a bit of a reach to me, when you look at the rest of the car, the matched blue steering wheel etc. Would someone really go to the trouble to fake a cluster on a car with no engine work? Seems off to me. But not as off as dunking on peoples sales post with something so vague. Good luck with the sale!$10,000 bid placed by @pillestein
All 80's Benzes need Penta wheels. Emphasis on need.@MastersFan the size and style font used on the dial. There are other fine details of the dial that’s off. I’ve seen many original dials over the years. Take a look at close ups of dials on previous sales here of original cars and you’ll start to see the difference. I’m fairly sure this dial was made by an enthusiast in Oregon who has sold many replica ones on eBay.Very interesting and nice car. Does anyone have the part number or the pattern for the Mercedes Benz OEM Exhaust Hanger Transmission Bracket Mount seen in the pictures here please? @neil or @DrAMG would appreciate, I found this part number but not sure if it will do the job 201 492 4941cocaine, drug dealer, miami vice ok its been said . timevalve exhaust?@DrAMG I would agree this car is definitely a looker! The white is fantastic on it. What makes you think cluster is a replica? Thanks for the comment. The mileage is correct. There’s something about a white SEC in AMG trim. Looks great with the snowy white backdrop! I would like to however point out that the speedometer is not an authentic AMG unit as it’s being described. Since the speedometer plate is a replica, is the mileage accurate or TMU?$5,250 bid placed by @BD450SL
