The car is finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) with paint-matched lower cladding and was fully repainted approximately 5 years ago with photo documentation. Features include an AMG-style body kit consisting of side skirts, front spoiler, rear skirt, and trunk spoiler. The side skirts still have their original AMG stamps. The trunk spoiler shows a crack along the top on the driver rear corner. Euro-market bumpers remain mounted along with European-market headlamps and a metal sunroof with tilt function. Remanufactured AMG-style exhaust tips are visible at the rear.
A video below shows the car running on a dyno with a recorded top speed of 297km/h.

I am one of the buyer from Johan’s collection and the one bought is W109 280 SEL 4.5 (V8). Once I visited his garage in south of Spain, I was also offered for the W126 AMG and loved the car following my inspection on exterior and interior but not able to check the engine. I checked the VIN number with MB manufacturing database and the records was matching as 500 SEL AMG as per my friend who owns private MB workshop in Turkiye. I am happy to share that the classic I bought was also chasis of restored probably by the same garage in Poland and the wotkmanship on body, paint, interior and mechanics was extensively manhour spend amd the rnd result was nearly perfect. There were minor impacts I noticed like the speedometer sometimes does not work. I am taking the car for spin around at some weekends weather permit and enjoying the wibe a lot. Also, a couple of words for Johan, I found him quite responsive, helpfull and postive approach on special needs addressed to him for international transport and registration on different Country. I respected him a lot and we become friends although we haven’t met each other in person. I realized some negative comments shared here in which I did not have such experience before, during and after the closure of the sale with him. Happy bidding to all VrlI am jumping in here because I sold this car to Johan. I believed the engine to be stock, but pulled harder than any other w126 5.0 motor car I have owned. I sold it to him as rust free, which I truly believed it to be, but Johan's body guy did find some minimal rust in the trunk which I believe they corrected. The car was sold to Johan with the original AMG wheels, side skirts and rear AMG bumper (not the one currently on the car). It did not have an AMG front lip. I do not know why. The car was purchased from someone who was given it by his unlce in who I believe lived in California when he bought this car, and then moved to Arizona, which explains why the car had no rust but paint faded on top. I have had too many MB cars for a long time and somehow encountered Johan, and he was only interested in rust free cars. We started the deal with this car, and added a 199 (blue black) 1985 500sl which I believe he said he gave to his mechanic for the work he did on all his other cars. I don't know anything about these cars after they left the US, but it is clear that Johan has put a LOT of work into them. I also know that the story of the white r107 500sl AMG, previously owned by a friend of mine here in the US who sold the car to someone in Europe who apparently did some terrible work on that car before selling it to Johan. Johan was furious about the purchase, and we all felt bad for him. I think that is the car that had the AMG cams they reproduced. I believe I also supplied the AMG penta wheels for that white 500sl. I know the paint job was not good when I sold them to the US owner of that car, but I believe my friend had them refinished after I sold them to him because the clearcoat had gone yellow. The wheels were not the complaint about that car as I understand it. I really know nothing of that car first hand, but it sure seems like the person here is pretty frustrated with that car too, just like Johan was. If I was to ask one question, it would be about the dyno video. I will admit that I don't know or understand dyno tests well. Why does the HP only reach 128 hp? That car was the strongest running w126 I ever owned, running 0-60 faster than the MB claim when I owned it. Did the engine work not make the engine more powerful? Or am I missing something in those dyno tests? Thanks, mknmike aka fonzi from benzworld@GoBoGo Hi, and thanks for the constructive comment. The front seats are new Recaros, the original MB seats come with the car too. The white might be upholstery under the leather and it showed up after I had the curtains installed. I believe it is easy corrected. Also thanks for the good luck wishes.Front seats look brand new but the back seat looks a bit odd--curious what I'm seeing in photo 67 where the seats back up to the 'platform' under the window--what's the white that I'm seeing at the edge? Also in 76 they seem like they are sagging or something. Any idea what's going on back there? Regardless, a lovely W126! (I think that one guy is fussy that there is no link to the prior auction--people typically prefer to look at the prior auction to review comments and pricing to get an idea about what to ask and/or offer on the present auction). I love this though; good luck! Bo@StuttgartClassix Hi, - First: I understand you are not interested in buying this car, as you haven't noticed we posted A LOT of additional photos, including detailles of the extensive restoration, compared to last year. - Next, about the announcement: Last years posting of thembmarket was excellent, so there was no need in changing except for additional photos, so I don't understand what your "mess" referred to. Sadly enough we didn't get to reserve even though it was close. So we waited about one year to announce again, reaching out to new possible bidders. Understand that I am not in need of money, I am over 70, I have too many cars in collection as my children are with other interests and therefore selling. The reserve price is a lot lower than my investment, so a good deal for the buyer anyway, but reserve is reserve. - As to my replies: I am a collector and I drive my collection. I know the good and the bad of my cars and if I provide technical detailles, it is because my restorer, whom I trust 100%, has shared them with me. I am collector, not mechanic. - As to your comment to thembmarket, I am convinced most people agree they are doing a great job, considering it is still a young business.$10,000 bid placed by @OnlyGerman
@blakelyleonard @mbmarket what are we doing here... this auction is a mess. why are you just reposting last years auction with out any updates to the car. Looks like we are getting the same NOn and vague answers from the seller and even worse it seems. This is making your auction site not look very good. you guys should have the best MB sales site...instead Bat and demuro are selling lesser cars higher@Johan you lie lie and more lie .. you told me that CAMS are 100% amg then when i check there were NOT . you cant be trusted and people need to know . i have picure "before " shipment and when i actually got the car . DAY AND NIGHT . i dont want people to get RIPPED OFF like i did !Hello everyone, It is not my intention to go in detail about this sad event, as this is not the location. But to clear all doubts: the Polish workshop referred to is NOT my restorer but a Polish guy from whom I bought a REAL (not a tribute) and expensive "restored" R107 500SL. It turned out to be badly restored. I invested a lot in the technical improvement on top of the expensive buying price. After the refund, the buyer of the 500SL AMG acquired it very cheap with plenty of space to improve the also poorly done body restoration. I am sorry he is revengeful after so many years, I did more in return than what is proper. About this 500SEL AMG tribute: it is decently restored by my long time restorer and it is truly a gem. I am sure the photos show more than enough. Thank you for reading.Hello everyone, I wanted to share a cautionary tale about my experience with Johan Volders to save you from a similar ordeal. A few years ago, I purchased an R107 from him, and the condition of the car in the pictures was vastly different from what I actually received. It took numerous emails and threats to get some money back. The body shop he used in Poland was not the best to say the least ; they painted the car without first removing the rust. I had to send the car to bodyshop to have it completely redone. Please stay away from Johan Volders to avoid getting screwed over like I did. NONE OF THE AMG PARTS ARE LEGIT AS WELL . he lies about everything .. EVERY "amg" part that was advertised as real end up to be FAKE .$250 bid placed by @russian007am

NONE OF THE AMG PARTS ARE LEGIT AS WELL .@KRH1 Let me correct you on one point: I have owned this Mercedes for several years and last time we didn't get to reserve price, that by itself doesn't come close to investment. My loss your gain. As for the technical detailles, those came from my restorer after retro fitting and upgrading. the 500SEL. I am not a mechanic but as a long time collector, I have had several W126 500 in my collection over the years and this one is not comparable in speed nor in handling to any of the others I had. Also thanks for the compliments, yes it is a great car.Nice build project and what a cool car as the end result for those Sunday cruises Miami Vice style. However i have my head scratching on those dyno results!!! Peak power ATW 128hp & 4,648rpm (assume in 2nd gear) with no torque readout, so that needs some explaining for sure. AMG work on the Gen1 5litre engine to get the power up besides swapping in higher comp pistons, cams, exhuast, tune etc required the heads worked (larger intake valves which were back-cut on the stems, lightened followers aka rockers, port work to the throat, bowls, intake, exhaust ports enlarged) Intake manifold was modified (runners enlarged and port matched to the heads). When MB released the Euro 10:1comp Gen2 500 they simply bolted on the 560 heads that had all these mods already done in factory production except the intake valve stems were not back-cut (which AMG did to increase flow). MB also swapped in the 300hp Fuel head (FD) to the 500 & Tri-Ys and hotter cams etc to get the power/torque up from factory. Anyway it is still an awesome SEL that you acquired 1 yr ago on this platform and for some reason now moving it on, so good luck with the auctionhow does one interpret that dyno, I see 125 whp so maybe 160 motor? that doesnt make sense can u link the previous auction like the other guys doWhat a cool car. A lot of work went into this build. Great to see the images.
