This 2001 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG was sold new by Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville, TN and shows registration in Florida, California and Idaho under two owners with 156k miles on the odometer. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over Charcoal Nappa Leather (521), power is provided by a hand-built 5.4-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, Xenon headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, heated multicontour front seats, Bose audio and a trunk-mounted CD changer. A service including a complete flush of all fluids was performed in April 2023. This 2001 E55 AMG is now offered for sale by the current owner with the original manufacturer’s literature, tool kit, a recent Carfax report, and a clean Idaho title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) and features AMG body styling including a sculpted front air dam, rear apron and side skirts along with chrome AMG dual exhaust pipes. Exterior features include Xenon headlamps with fog lamps front and rear, heated headlamp and windshield washers, rain-sensing wipers, remote central locking, a garage door opener and power adjustable door mirrors with an auto-dimming driver side. A trailer hitch has been mounted to the rear of the car and the seller notes a slight indentation across the lower portion of the passender side door and front fender. Stone chips and scratches are visible on the bumpers and mirror covers along with a crack in the front bumper and a cracked antenna housing. The Carfax shows a minor damage report in February 2023 due to the car being keyed which required a respray of the passenger side. The seller reports that no rust is present on the body.
18” AMG Monoblock wheels come fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires measuring 245/40 front and 275/35 rear with date codes from 2020. Some signs of curb rash are visible on the wheels. Ventilated discs are mounted on all four corners with four-piston calipers mounted at the front.
The cabin is trimmed in Charcoal Nappa Leather (521) with black rubber floor mats and Black Bird’s Eye Maple wood trim lining the center console, dashboard and door panels. Both front seats are heated and offer multicontour adjustment with three-position memory for both passenger and driver. Interior amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a power-adjustable steering column, a power rear sunshade, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a trunk-mounted CD changer, Bose audio and a Blaupunkt Bremen radio. The front seats are covered with sheepskin covers and there are no tears in the leather.
The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel frames gray AMG gauges including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, fuel level and coolant temperature. A configurable digital display is mounted in the speedometer along with a digital outside temperature sensor, a digital clock and a digital odometer which shows 156k miles with 40k miles added by the current owner in the past ten years.
This W210 is powered by a hand-built AMG 5.4-liter V8 which is rated for 349 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The seller reports that a full fluid change was performed in April 2023 with partial service history included with the car.
The Carfax shows registration in Florida, California and Idaho under two owners with linear mileage updates and regular service visits from new. The aforementioned minor damage report is shown in February 2023 with no accidents appearing on the Carfax. This E55 AMG is now offered for sale by the current owner in Merced, California with the original manufacturer’s literature, spare tire, tool kit and a clean Idaho title in the seller’s name.
After being acquired by Mercedes-Benz in the late 90s, AMG began fitting tuned versions of the M113 V8 into various Mercedes models. The last AMG to be assembled by AMG in Affalterbach, the W210 E55 was fitted with a 5.5-liter M113 V8 which produced nearly 400 lb-ft of torque accelerating the mid-size sedan to 60 in just 5.4 seconds. On top of the performance modifications, the car received AMG body styling, Monoblock wheels and an AMG Nappa Leather interior. The cars came well equipped as standard including multicontour heated front seats and Xenon headlamps. Given its combination of luxury, performance and history, the W210 E55 has begun to catch the eye of collectors in recent years. This example comes finished in a classic silver over black color combination and shows just two owners from new. The M113 and 722.6 powertrain is known for exceptional reliability along with the high standards of construction for the W210 chassis as a whole. For a collector looking to acquire a piece of AMG history, this E55 AMG is sure to provide many years of excellent performance and superb styling and comfort.

Thank you all for your interest. These cars deservedly have a cult following. Just not enough paying attention here. I will try again in the future as values go up
Too bad there wasn't more interest. This thing is really nice - I wouldn't have let it go for $11k either.
RNM….bummer.

@RBBrooke Thank you for your prompt reply. Sorry to hear that this happened during the shoot while you were not there. The car looks great....I dont think you need to go to all that trouble...but it is appreciated. Thank you again.
@Rockster80 The car was perfect except for some sand and road rash on the front bumper and hood...tiny little pits until....the photo shoot. I noticed in the photos that little crease on the right side. I am in Hawaii. The car is in Calif so I have not been able to inspect it post photo shoot. A few people that i asked to look at is said the crease was barely noticeable but it had to have happened during the photo shoot. No one else has been in the car. I had it delivered this morning to the body shop that resprayed the right side for the key incident. They are going to fix the crease, the rear bumper smudge, sand, prime and respray the front hood and bumper so the car will bel clean from front to back. There is no bondo on the car. No accidents.
@RBBrooke (2) What caused the crease along the RF fender and passenger door? Why was it not repaired during the replay for the vandalism (keying)?

@mlewis207 I should have some undercarriage shots by tomorrow.
@mlewis207 I do not have any undercarriage shots but I can assure you it is clean. The springs have never come up on the service reviews. I have usedhttps://www.mercedes-werks.com/bmw-mercedes-service-repair/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwnMWkBhDLARIsAHBOftrBNpFT76h33eLXQde1gKuRiPFN0xRfGD_ENAi43j8WYJ4o9_nyHY0aAr5iEALw_wcB andhttps://www.google.com/search?q=seigfried+Europeon+Fresno&oq=seigfried+Europeon+Fresno&aqs=chrome..69i57j33i10i160l2.23335j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#rlimm=18060085477250694405 for all the work. Whenever I take it in, I ask them to drive it intensely and propose repairs as if it was their own. It rides solid and smooth on smooth pavement. It does not prefer rough pavement triggers a few interior rattles
Any undercarriage shots ? And how are the spring perches holding up ?

This is a great machine. I was the 2nd owner of Artemus (my oldest daughter named it after the Greek goddess). I purchased Artemus from the original owners--a retired couple in their early 70's who lived in Naples, Florida that bought it new in Tennessee. I believe they did maintenance at MB dealerships. it was impeccable when I purchased it, and before finding it I looked at dozens of E55's prior to finding this in Naples, Florida. Drove it 3,000 miles back to my home in Silicon Valley, which was a blast of a road trip in that vehicle. I kept it several years and did every and all maintenance needed, and then for family reasons needed to sell it, and did so to Richard who has been a long-term friend. Knowing that I'd get first dibs on it if he ever sold it again made it easier to part with. If I didn't already have two SUV's and two motorcycles (and a trailer), then I would absolutely be buying this back; alas, five vehicles for a single guy is already too much. This is my all time favorite sedan that I've ever owned, and for context in the past have had various Lexus, BMW at least a half dozen Mercedes Benzes. This is a great performance sedan, looks beautiful, reasonable to maintain, and very reliable.
Thank you for viewing my E55. I have owned it for about 10 years and 50,000 miles in Coeur d Alene, Idaho and mostly Carmel, Calif. I am 68. I have owned dozens of cars. This is the flatest cornering, fastest and quietest sedan I have ever owned. The acceleration stuns people. It was the fastest production sedan in the world when introduced. Contrary to the faster 2003-2006 E55s, the 1999-2002's are hand built and solid as a rock. If you research the common repairs of these hand built units vs the supercharged later versions the differences in what keeps failing in the newer ones is staggering....from fuel systems to fuel tanks, electronics, interiors, brakes and suspension. in 10 years, all I have had to do is basic wear items and maintenance....about $2,000 a year. The tires are 2021's and have about 5,000 miles on them. The sheep skin covers have been on for 10 years. The leather seats are in great shape...no tears. The Blaupunkt is new and bluetooth enabled. I added the small hitch but never used it. Motor mounts, trans mount, serpentine, valve cover seals and the most common wear parts and are all relatively new. I live on the small island of Lanai in Hawaii now....speed limit 35 mph and only 20 miles of paved roads. It is our permanent and last home. It is time for the E55 to find a loving home. It is stored in Merced, Calif
