This 2007 Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG is finished in Alpine Rain Metallic (349) over Ash Nappa Leather (508) and powered by a hand-built 6.2-liter V8 engine mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels. Equipment includes a panorama sunroof, Parktronic with a rearview camera, Distronic cruise control, heated multicontour sport seats, three-zone climate control, Keyless-Go, Airmatic air suspension and an AMG sports exhaust system. Service history from new comes with the sale, and recent maintenance included a new cam adjuster seal, new radiator, four new air springs, rear shocks and a new battery. Now showing 144k miles on the odometer, this R63 AMG is offered for sale by the current owner with an OEM roof rack and cargo box, an additional set of factory 20" AMG wheels, a clean Carfax report and a clean California title.
The exterior is finished in Alpine Rain Metallic (349) and features AMG aerodynamic bodywork including sculpted front and rear bumpers, and side skirts. The front fenders feature factory-placed 6.3 badges with quad chrome-plated AMG exhaust tips featured at the rear. Exterior equipment includes a panorama glass sunroof, Bi-Xenon headlamps with active curve illumination, front fog lamps, headlamp washers, Distronic cruise control, Parktronic with a rearview camera, Keyless-Go and a power tailgate. The seller notes that the power tailgate does not fully close without assistance and that the left front parking sensor tends to malfunction. Previous paintwork includes a repainted front bumper and right rear quarter panel to correct scratches. The exterior is in good condition and shows no signs of rust or body damage with only minor scratches shown on the bumpers.
Custom 20” wheels inspired by the W100 Grosser wear a matching blue finish with weighted Mercedes center caps and come wrapped in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport All Season tires. The tires measure 255/45 on all four corners and show date codes from 2022. The stock 20” five-spoke AMG wheels are included with the sale and have been photographed by the seller. The standard Airmatic and Adaptive Damping Suspension allows for adjustability of both ride height and stiffness. Lowering links have been installed by the seller with the stock links included with the car.
The cabin is trimmed in Ash Nappa Leather (508) and features matching gray carpets and Burl Walnut wood trim which lines the center console, dashboard and door panels. The front sport seats are heated and power adjustable and feature multicontour with massage along with alcantara accents on the shoulders. Interior equipment includes three-zone automatic climate control, COMAND with DVD navigation, Harman Kardon Logic7 surround sound, and dual sun shade visors. The second row includes climate controls mounted along with the rear audio controls as well as a center console and rear pop-out windows. The third row folds flat providing additional space for loading. The seller has installed aftermarket floor mats from Coco Mats with the original carpeted and all-weather floor mats included with the sale.
The AMG performance steering wheel frames a 200-mph speedometer along with an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and a fuel level gauge along with a configurable digital display. The digital odometer currently reads 144k miles with 12k miles added by the current owner in the past 4 years.
This AMG minivan is powered by a hand-built 6.2-liter M156 V8 which is factory rated at 503 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission using a 4Matic permanent four-wheel drive system.
The Carfax report shows five owners with registration reported in Washington, Wisconsin, Texas and California. Linear mileage updates and regular service visits are shown with no accidents or damage reports present. Included with the car is the OEM roof rails, an additional set of factory 20" AMG wheels, cargo box, cargo net and cargo cover. This 2007 R63 AMG is now offered for sale by the current owner in Irvine, California with full service history, a clean Carfax report and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Earning a reputation for shoe-horning large engines where large engines don’t belong, AMG did what they do best when presented with a Mercedes-built minivan and fitted it with a modest 6.2-liter V8 engine. For the 2007 model year alone, customers were able to purchase a seven-seater minivan with a full AMG treatment including powertrain, body styling and interior as well as all of the hair-raising acceleration that is to be expected with any AMG product. Unsurprisingly, the overlap between AMG and R-class customers was rather small and reportedly only 108 units made it to the American market making it one of AMG’s rarest cars produced after the merger. This example sports a phenomenal specification with a nearly full build sheet and includes tasteful modifications while retaining all the factory equipment as well as extra factory accessories. With a clean Carfax report and full service history, bidders can be confident in this car’s ability to provide many more years of sleeper-AMG fun.

Congrats @Slocal!
The reserve is off, bid to win!
+1 @Oeuvre and @Typhoon2, this is the type of seller you want to buy your car from. car might need some preventive maintenance, but awesome car regardless. GL everyone.
Same here, which is why I asked the question about those M156 common failure points. I was super impressed with the seller's response - honest and fully transparent. Seems like a great guy, the kind you want to buy a car like this from as someone noted. Awesome vehicle if you invest in those preventatively. Was going to buy it and make those investments if it didn't shoot up so much last minute.
I am tempted, but, at this mileage, I would want to replace the camshaft adjusters/phasers with more robust parts from 63 Motorsports, upgrade the lifters, replace the camshaft adjuster solenoid/actuator magnets with the latest revision and install the harness adapters (a.k.a., the "sacrificial pigtails," which is something I've done on my own cars from that generation and later) to avoid the major problem with oil in the engine wiring harness (and pick up a replacement engine wiring harness and replacement ECU from the last remaining stock, which many R63 owners are doing right now, as they are ending production...), and refresh the entire rear tailgate (currently malfunctioning already, it seems...) components (not cheap) to avoid all of the problems that these faulty components can trigger down the line (from problems with closing to alarm to parasitic drain, etc...been there, done that). I'd also tear apart the vehicle interior and sunroof to check for water intrusion, as this is another problem that plagues this chassis. Oh, and also expect major transmission and transfer case issues in this generation of that 4MATIC drivetrain, if they haven't been addressed recently already. It will be an investment, but it might pay off for someone looking to turn this into a garage queen/collector/museum piece and hold onto it for a number of years. GLWTA

Checked out the car in person. This is a nice one! Super solid, very much as pictured and described. Serious stack of records, including a lot of recent work. Seller clearly is a real car guy and very up front, e.g. the kind of person from whom you want to buy a 16-year old German car (IME half of buying a car like this is about who the seller is).
Under 2 hours to go. Get your bids in!
These are very cool and classic collectibles. 😎

16 hours to go, good luck bidders! @liveedge @gkw123 @katbeh @shyk1965 @mrnick @amgdriver Hit me with any last minute questions.
@Typhoon2 No history of replacement of lifters, cams, cam adjusters, engine mounts, or trans mounts. The hydraulic engine mounts are visibly 50%-75% worn, but, for me, the vibration hasn't become bothersome enough to justify replacement yet.
@seller Hi, to what extent have the lifters, cams and cam adjusters been replaced? Also the engine and trans mounts?

@katbeh I have a thick binder full of receipts and records dating back to new, as well as the window sticker. Thanks to the MB Market team for uploading photos so quickly. Please send me a message if there's any specific service records you're seeking.
A photo of the service binder and window sticker have been uploaded to the gallery.
@seller, do you have any paperwork for previous work done on the car besides the VMI? how about the window sticker? Thanks!

Who manufactured those wheels @AstonFartin ? Very neat R Class
Cool combo w/ the wheels, I've run mine for nearly 40,000 miles in the same timeframe and it has been an absolute blast. Great for all the road trips with the 3 rows, kids and adults always enjoy it.
Do R63s have a dyno mode like the other mercedes' where traction control is completely off?

Wow. Seldom see these - I almost jumped a few years back (not that we needed a minivan) before they hit cult status. So crazy that I wish MB would still make them. Love the wheels! Xtras: rack, box, wheels add value - family ski HAULER. GLWA .
@ILLANOIZ Yes, the head bolts were addressed in 2013.
Beautiful example. Have the Headbolts been addressed?
Wow, now this is COOL. Love the wheels.
This is the only MB that can knock the M156 AMG wagon off their thrones. A fantastic example.
