Shift was factory ordered Note door hinges receive grease on a. Regular basis
Such an interesting car. I have memories of riding in my mom's as a very young child (1973 450SEL). One of the issues these cars had was the sunroof air disruption auditory discomfort at certain speeds. This example seems to have a tasteful aftermarket remedy installed. My SLC has the same engine and I can tell you that if this example has had the good fortune of having spent its life under the care of owners who maintained it as it appears to have had based on the description, the next owner will enjoy decades of reliable power as these engines truly are the equivalent gasser to the venerable OM616 diesel. While it is hard to beat the bamboo interior found on the W116, this red interior is pretty cool. Question: Was the shift on the column an option at some point for cars destined for the USA? I've only seen a few examples (online, never in person) on the W116. Interesting. Good luck with the auction. Someone is going to be very happy with a wonderful S-class next week.

@Tank24 @billapex Thank you both for the kind words! This car has been a joy to own and the color combo is very special on a W116.
Anything silver/grey with a red interior is always my favorite. Beauty of a classic Benz!

Super clean example! That color combo is perfection if I’ve ever seen it.
