This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL first shows recorded ownership history in Bardstown, Kentucky along with subsequent registrations in North Carolina and South Carolina. It was acquired by the selling dealer approximately six months ago in Baltimore, Maryland with just under 49k miles on the odometer. This SL is finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) over Medium Red Leather (277) leather and powered by a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a removable paint-matched original hardtop, an aftermarket head unit, air conditioning with automatic climate control, a black soft top, original Medium Red carpets and floor mats, and the original airbag steering wheel. More than 30 years of service records are offered with this example and a complete fluid flush was performed in preparation for the sale. This example is offered by the selling dealer with 49k miles on the odometer, extensive service records, factory literature, an original data card, an original tool kit, two keys, both top keys, an included Carfax report, and a clean South Carolina title.
The body is finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) and reportedly features original body panels. Exterior features include a manually retractable black soft top with tonneau cover, chrome mirror caps, North American-spec headlamps and bumpers, chrome fender guards, and front fog lamps. The original paint-matched hardtop is included and features original glass with rear defrost. The Carfax report shows minor damage reported in 1998 as a result of an accident with another vehicle. The factory brightwork shines nicely and doesn’t appear to show pitting.
This 560SL wears silver-painted 15x7” Gullideckel wheels wrapped in Yokohama tires measuring 205/65 on all four corners. The tires show 2016 date codes and the wheels show original silver-painted center caps. Braking is handled by disc brakes at all four wheels.
The cabin is upholstered in Medium Red leather (277) across the seats, door cards, armrest, head rests, and lower dashboard. The dashboard features burl wood trim across the lower portion in addition to the center console and shift surround. The original Becker head unit has been replaced with an aftermarket unit featuring auxiliary input sound capabilities. Interior features include air conditioning with automatic climate control, a power antenna, and flip-down visors with vanity mirrors. The rear windows on the soft top are new and remain clear.
The odometer shows 49k original miles and instrumentation includes VDO gauges featuring a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and an analog odometer with trip function. Additional gauges include fuel level, oil pressure, fuel economy, and an analog clock. The gauges are trimmed with chrome rings and feature electronic warning lights along the base of the cluster, none of which are illuminated.
The 5.5-liter M117 V8 was rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired to a 722.3 automatic four-speed transmission. Underbody photos can be seen in the gallery below. The seller notes that a comprehensive fluid flush was performed in preparation for the sale and more than 30 years of records are included.
This example is offered by the selling dealer with 49k miles on the odometer, extensive service records, factory literature, an original data card, an original tool kit, two keys, both top keys, an included Carfax report showing linear mileage updates, and a clean South Carolina title.
Videos below have been included by the seller and show a walk around, driving functions, and central locking functions.
While the R107 continues to solidify its legendary status among a lineage of SL's, R107's in above average mechanical condition are becoming tougher to find than ever. The M117-powered 560SL's are leading the way from a collectibility and value standpoint. This example is exceptionally desirable in this rare color combination and with such low documented miles. Pair the strength of this example with the seller's reputation for clean, well-sorted examples and it should make any enthusiast a happy SL owner for many years to come.

@Coachmule , This car was never in AZ, always garaged in SC. Yes it was pick up at a sale. People tend to use the carfax as the life story of the car, however carfax is only reporting it from a single angel. Why Does carfax not show every single service that we have records of? They choose who they want to work with based on if you will pay them to list services performed to customers cars. As stated on the carfax MINOR DAMAGE in 1998 then under that it states that " Minor damage is usually cosmetic , including dents or scratches to the vehicles body". To us the paint shows to be all original. As I am sure you are aware all the bumper are heavy duty rubber and metal. It is possible that one of the rubber sections was replaced but I can not and will not comment on cosmetic damages that do not currently exists.
