This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL is finished in Black (040) over Grey Leather (278), and power is provided by a 5.5-liter V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The car shows Maryland registrations up until 2022 when the vehicle relocated to Alabama where it currently resides with the seller. Equipment includes heated and power-adjustable front seats, heated rear bench seats, power windows, an Alpine head unit, automatic climate control with air conditioning, and self-leveling rear suspension. In preparation for the sale, a full A/C service was performed which included the installation of a new Denso compressor and blower motor. Additionally, the car received an oil service, new engine mounts, EHA valve, fuel filter, fuel distributor, and spark plugs earlier this year. This 560SEL now shows 68k miles and is offered for sale with service records during the seller's ownership, one key, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Alabama title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) and features grey lower body cladding and chrome trim lining the beltline and bumpers. Exterior equipment includes heat insulating glass with an electrically-heated rear window, headlamp wiper/washers, and a power adjustable passenger-side door mirror. The seller has included photos of the body and notes paint and clear coat fading, a patch covering the antenna area, and paint issues along the edges of the trunk lid. The rear driver side door shows paint cracking along prior body work inside the door jamb. Various scrapes are visible on the bumpers and other imperfections are detailed in the gallery.
Original silver painted 15” Gullideckel wheels are mounted and wear Vredestein Quatrac tires measuring 205/65 on all four corners. The wheels show some rash and wear. The car features rear self-leveling suspension and the system is reportedly in working order. In 2022 the car received new front and rear brake lines, pads, calipers and hardware along with a full exhaust system. Additionally, new control arm bushings, ball joints, subframe bushings, two shocks, and tie rods were installed.
The cabin is trimmed in Grey Leather (278) and features Burl Walnut wood trim lining the center console, dashboard and door panels. Both front seats are heated and power adjustable. The rear bench seat is also heated and features an electric reclining function. Additional interior equipment includes an Apline head unit, automatic climate control and rear footrests. The seller notes cracks in the wood veneer around the shifter bezel and missing seat controls on the passenger front door for the seat. The leather shows well with no rips or tears and the dash has no cracks.
The instrument cluster features a 170-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, fuel economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The mechanical odometer currently reads 68k miles.
This W126 is powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 which is factory rated at 238hp and 287 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Service records under the seller's care since 2022 are included in the sale and pictured in the gallery. In preparation for the sale, a full A/C service was performed which included the installation of a new Denso compressor, blower motor resistor, blower motor, and R134 refrigerant. Additionally, the car received an oil service, new engine mounts, engine vibration damper, EHA valve, fuel filter, fuel distributor, and spark plugs earlier this year, along with a full exhaust system from the headers back including a new catalyic converter. Prior service in 2022 included new control arm bushings, ball joints, subframe bushings, two shocks, tie rods, steering damper, transmission mount, transmission fluid flush, oil service, and all new radiator hoses.
The Carfax report first notes registration in Maryland starting in 1994 where it remained until relocating to Alabama in 2022. No accidents or damage is reported and linear mileage updates are shown.

Good Day, Thank you for your inquiry. Although the CarFax report shows no prior accidents or damage it does appear there has been some paintwork/bodywork in the trunk and driver’s side rear door area. I was unable to get any records from the original owner.$1,607 bid placed by @jpfrazier
Has this been repainted? The finish aside from the clear coat issues has more orange peel that what would have been from the factory. Also, some panel have serous fish eyeing in the paint surface.Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the auction of my ultra low mileage 1988 Mercedes 560 SEL. Please feel free to send any questions my way and I will be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. My goal is to provide a transparent auction that will help the buyer have the information needed to make a decision. Although I have provided a recent inspection from a brand expert shop I am open to serious bidders scheduling their own pre-purchase inspections at their own expense and at a mutually convenient time. Please note this is before making a commitment to buy and not after a winning bid has been submitted. Thank you & Happy Bidding.$1,357 bid placed by @Lfuselier
