This 1999 Mercedes-Benz CL600 is being offered following a 2022 auction on The MB Market where the reserve was not met. Finished in Glacier White (143) over Mushroom Leather (515) interior, this final-year flagship is reportedly one of as few as 15 and as many as 44 units produced for the 1999 model year. This C140 was purchased new through Mercedes-Benz of Chattanooga, Tennessee in May 1998 and now shows four owners on the included Carfax report. The fourth and current owner purchased the car in July 2020 and it now shows 105k miles. This final-year coupe is powered by a 6.0L M120 V12 paired to a five-speed automatic transmission. Features include Adaptive Damping System active suspension, heated multi-contour front seats, automatic climate control with rear-cabin controls, a Bose sound system with a six-disc CD changer, and xenon headlamps. Recent services include an oil change, new radiator and accompanying hoses, a new battery, both rear suspension accumulators, and more service noted below. This CL600 is now offered by the seller with recent service, one key, factory literature, a recent Carfax report, and a rebuilt Pennsylvania title.
The exterior is finished in Glacier White (143) and features color-matched lower body cladding. Additional exterior features include xenon headlamps, lower fog lamps, headlight wipers, a sunroof, a power antenna, and power-folding mirrors. The driver’s side mirror shows self-tinting failure and can be seen in the gallery below. This CL shows a rebuilt title from non-collision damage incurred in early 2013. Detailed photos of the exterior can be seen in the gallery.
Optional OEM 18″ Eltanin alloy wheels wear Continental tires measuring 255/45 and showing 2007 date codes. The wheels appear free of major curb rash or other defects. The car is equipped with Mercedes-Benz’s Adaptive Damping System active suspension and sits level in the included photos. The front left sway bar link was recently replaced.
The interior is trimmed in two-tome Mushroom Leather (515) seats featuring Beige leather inserts, matching door panels, and carpets. Burled wood veneer accents the dashboard, center console, shift knob, steering wheel, and door panels. The CL600 features a double stitched leather dash, door cards, and steering wheel. Additional amenities include front automatic dual-zone climate control, heated multi-contour front seats, rear power headrests, an electric sunroof, a Bose sound system with a six-disc CD changer, a console-mounted cellular phone, and a rear window shade. Original carpeted floor mats are missing and the left door soft close is reportedly inactive.
The leather and wood-trimmed steering wheel frames an instrument cluster that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a digital odometer that shows 105k miles.
The 6.0L V12 was factory rated at 389 horsepower which is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. This example includes a Carfax showing 42 various service records since new with recent work including an oil change, new radiator and accompanying hoses, a new battery, both rear suspension accumulators, a front left sway bar link, a new antenna motor, transmission shifter bushing, left front door latch assembly, an engine hood release cable, new ignition coils, an intake manifold gasket, oil level sender, oil pan, a valve cover gasket, oil pan, intake pipe housing, cylinder head front covers, a new water pump, new O2 sensors, a right catalytic converter, a transmission pilot bushing, and a new third brake light.
The included Carfax report shows linear mileage reports since new and a rebuilt title status due to non-collision damage that incurred in early 2013. This CL600 is now offered by the current owner and seller with recent service, one key, factory literature, a recent Carfax report, and a rebuilt Pennsylvania title.
On the brink of the auto industry migrating away from high displacement and naturally aspirated power plants, the M120 V12-powered Mercedes from the 90’s remain flagships against even the newest iteration of the S-Class and other modern luxury options. We’re marginally accustomed to seeing late model V12 C140’s but 1999 models are few and far between. There's general debate over production numbers with sources stating between 15 and 44 examples for the U.S. market and while this example does show a rebuilt title, there's no debating the rarity of this car and increasingly tough opportunity to replicate it. For those looking at driver-quality specs, this deserves attention.

I have a 124 built in 1990 but registered I’m 1994 in Japan and shows 1994 go figure Long way from Germany to Japan
@albanianbenz That's what I thought. Probably it's because delays in logistics. They had to ship all 600s from Europe.
@Sergey yes that’s right. My 1999 s600 was already on the road in march of 1998😂
@albanianbenz Thank you. I wonder if they actually were unsold leftovers and MB simply sold them as next year models?
@Vlad600sel I’m in Dallas Fort Worth, find me on insta @albanianbenz
@Sergey all 1999 models were built in 1998.
@Drkkrkn Yup, if you be there you may tag me here. There will be definitely many car events this summer, sometimes it's like multiple events during the same day. Normally I prefer going to car shows because they have more cars but it depends. I'd like to visit a Mercedes car meet, but not sure if there are any around me. Never heard about it...
@Sergey oh nice ! Had no idea what’s happening right by me :) thank you so much for the info ! I’ll try to make it as well , depends on the other cruise events etc.
@Drkkrkn On demo days they pick few cars from their museum, do a lecture about them or about some events or races where they raced and then they start them and do few laps on their improvised raced track and then they park them, open hoods, trunks, doors so everyone can have a close look. This week on 28th there will be another demo day where they bring 55' 300SL. Next week will be dedicated to making of Ford GT. There will be some nice vintage Ford GT cars there. On June 4th there will be "Birth of the Ford GT" event. I'll be there on June 4th, not sure about this saturday.
@albanianbenz where are you located I have a few 2
@Sergey that’s not that far from me at all either , I’ll try to be there. What do they do on demo days ? I’ve been to their lot (for meets) but never walked in to building :) I love benzes , what I can say I’m glutton for punishment :)

@Drkkrkn Thanks! I just scrolled down - I see you have a nice collection of Benzes there. I have few Benzes too, but not as much as you do. And Aldan is about 45-50 mins from where I live in Delaware. I'll be in Simeone museum which near PHL airport on June 4 - on that day they will be doing another demo day there. I highly recommend visiting that place. I you ever go there on demo days it would be nice to have a quick chat about Benzes and cars in general.
@Sergey not sure about the production dates but you’re right could be made in 1998 as well. Didn’t check the door sticker for production date
Any W140/C140 actually made in 1999 or they all made in 1998? Car looks nice. I guess paint gauge could provide more light but it's too late. I have 97 (actually made in 96) S600 with the same interior color as this one and I'd like to have a center armrest from later models like this one.
@R129apprentice hi, so I actually have 2 1999’s myself. One being CL600, and the other an S600. The exact number of units for 1999 model year is not know, but for sure is very low. So I’ve compiled a list of all 1999 CL600’s, S600,s on VINwiki, and so far I have documented 18 coupes, and 31 sedans all by vin, for the 1999 model year. This one that’s for sale was just added today.
@DABSaigon unfortunately I purchased the vehicle back in 2020. According to CARFAX it turns out to be total loss without any other info. There’s no sign of flood damage on the vehicle and it hasn’t given me any electronic or wiring issues. I know not helping but all I can say is ‘I’m not really sure’ :)
Why is there no detail of the total loss report in 02-2013? If we knew what the total loss was we could bid more confidently. Insurance companies don’t just write cars off for no reason! Thank you in anticipation of more clarity.
Good morning to all from a fellow 90s benz enthusiast...I wanted to chime in and express my love of the m120, w140, cl600! I feel privileged every time I grab the steering wheel. There are many m120, w140s... but NOT the coupe! 1 of 15 I had been schooled on, and half of them being 500s... apparently mercedes used the parts they had left through the production and approximately 15 cl500/cl600 coupes were sent to North America. I must say that I have only seen or heard of less than 3! Alot of people get this Unicorn mixed up with the other chassis and have no idea of the value of this vessel! There is no comparison to the w220 or w215. Your basically sent into another dimension behind the grip of pure genius! (Not to mention, sound proof tank with double pane glass! Cmon, 10gs can't get you a Honda with under 100k in today's world...smh... gets alot better gas mileage than you may think!
Good morning to all.... I figured I'd comment since I do own one of these very few examples of the CL 600 along with

@TWWOKC thank you much for the input ! Definitely, everybody that I feel/hear on the vehicle have been addressed
I use the Carfax report as a guide, not the gospel. This looks like a great chance to own a rare and enjoyable Benz
@Drkkrkn Could you please provide a video of the ADS in action?

@pilotbrother2003 exactly ! Lol anytime ! According to CARFAX out of nowhere it’s listed as total loss back in 2013, I haven’t seen anything like that either :)
@BlueDevilBill I’m planning to put my 88 560SL and 93 300CE (with a ‘fake Amg’ kit and monoblock wheels) so nothing special but the 300CE looks pretty awesome :) Also currently own ; 06 S65 06 SL65 06 CL65 87 560SEC 96 S600 88 560SL 93 300CE And in the process of getting 13 ML63
@Drkkrkn Thank you. Any other interesting Benz's coming to auction? :-)
@Drkkrkn Sounds like a "collision" to me! LOL. THANK YOU for the prompt response. I'm assuming there was no airbag deployment?
@pilotbrother2003 according to seller, it was hit a deer. I had to replace the passenger side headlight along with front bumper cover.
@BlueDevilBill I know I will regret my decision for my whole life, but own eight more benzes I don’t get to drive much. It’s in great condition, someone can definitely enjoy it
Looks like the owner has done some good recent repairs and replacements. Why are you selling?
What was the nature of “non-collision” damage? The only thing that comes to mind is some sort of water/flooding damage.
