This 2002 Mercedes-Benz S500 Pullman was built in November 2000 in Sindelfingen before being shipped to the States where it now shows just 35k original miles. Finished in Obsidian Black Metallic (197) over Anthracite Nappa Leather (231), power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The factory 18” six-spoke alloy wheels come fitted with Pirelli P Zero all-season tires measuring 255/45 on all four corners showing date codes from 2020. The multifunction steering wheel frames analog gauges including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, a fuel level indicator and coolant temperature. Digital instrumentation consists of an outside temperature sensor, a digital clock and a configurable center display which shows a digital odometer reading just below 35k miles.
This W220 limo is powered by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 which is factory rated for 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes that an engine oil and oil filter change was recently performed in preparation for the sale.
The Carfax report shows the car being imported into the US in February 2002 with first registration shown in Oregon and later registration reported in California. Linear mileage updates are provided from new with no accidents or damage reports shown on the Carfax. This W220 is a Mercedes-Benz factory built Pullman as noted by the datacard.

Derived from the surname of luxury railway coachbuilder George Mortimer Pullman, the Mercedes S-Class Pullman takes a standard long-wheelbase S-Class and stretches the chassis by 1 meter or 39 inches. This augmentation provides additional room for rear passengers and creates a canvas for interior opulence achieved through extended trims and an array of luxury gadgets and every comfort feature imaginable. For the W220 generation, Mercedes enlisted the help of their recently-acquired performance tuning division, AMG. The Affalterbach engineers oversaw the chassis modifications and used their expertise to ensure the best possible luxury experience while inside the cabin. The total number of authentic Mercedes-built W220 Pullmans in the United States is believed to be in the single digits putting it in rare air. The vast majority of quality limos built were done by aftermarket tuners which makes this Pullman very special. This example includes plenty of unique optional equipment including a built-in TV tuner, power-operated curtains and folding multimedia workstations which allowed the car to double as a mobile office for executives while on the road. Showing just 35k original miles, this S500 Pullman presents in highly original condition and exemplifies the pinnacle of luxury upon which Mercedes-Benz has built its brand.

Few last things when going over the car, the telescopic steering wheel goes in and out but not up or down and lastly the driver side turning signal shows a warning light could be a fuse or connection, the bulb is working. Let us know if you have any questions.
Hello W220 pullman expert here. I have followed this car from early on sold at this same dealership in CA the 45k range few years ago I had my agent go inspect the car at that time it is amazing. The wheels are not the factory 5 spoke the car had when originally listed and they must have been swapped in the last ownership. Fun facts about W220 Pullmans 224 total made including 74 S500 and 150 S600 pullman. Included in these figures are 4 known AMG engined cars. There is one S55 AMG Pullman black on black which belonged to Tina Turner which I currently own with 24k miles on the clock as 3rd owner. There are three S63 V12 Pullmans. 2 belonged to the CEO of Samsung 1 is black on black the other gold on tan both cars in Europe currently. Gold one was up for sale around 150k euros few months ago at Classic Sterne in Germany. The last S63 is a Grey car also in Europe and sold 4ish years ago by Auto Zitzmann who still own the black Samsung S63 (I made many offers for this car). Very special and underappreciated vehicles. They are rock solid. I drove my Tanzanite blue S500 pullman to Miami and back and My S55 pullman to North Carolina and back all functions including cruise control working after 20+ years. Rock solid engines even after running for 20+ hours with little to no rest. I think I might have to buy this one also 🤔

@ariotofmyown Could not have explained it better, thank you.
That "Not Built to US Standards" line appears on the Carfax for many "Euro Spec" cars when title is passed to a new owner, but only in certain states. Take a look at the Carfax for the 1989 260SE Euro Auction that sold on this site a few days ago. When that car was sold/titled in VA in 2012, the Carfax reports the "Not Built to US Standards" line because its a Euro-Spec car. When the car was later sold to Texas, that line was NOT reported. Irrespective of the designation by CARFAX, the car was legally titled/registered/driven in both states without issue or regard for the line on the Carfax. While the Pullman is not a "Euro Spec" car, it would - in my opinion - likely also qualify as not being built to US specifications due to the length, rear facing seats and various other specialty built and extravagant Pullman features that were not available on any other US spec W220 of the era. That is to say, it passed the rigorous FEDERAL US highway safety standards by the USDOT, but when it goes to the state, a box is ticked noting its status as a car that had not been originally built to US standards. If that were a problem, it would seem to me that the cars would not then get issued titles and registrations, but we can see where that happens on many imported cars that share the same Carfax reporting line. The car is presently titled in California and the State noted that its a non-US spec car when title passed (just like with the 1989 car in Virginia). However, its been declared federally road legal and road legal in the state of California as per the DOT forms and the issuance of a CA title. I cant speak to CA emissions b/c I'm not very familiar with that system, personally. Just my two cents....but it just seems like a disjoint/discord between the Federal and State bureaucratic reporting systems. Hope that helps.
Please give us your thoughts about what appear to be opposing statements in the CARFAX Imported into the US with a notation by the US Dept of Trasportation in LA " Vehicle declared to meet US highway safety specifications Bond released " AND Six Notations " Not built to US standards " Appears odd to me that meets US highway SAFETY specifications And in the rigid State of California and its Not built to US standards
