This example is now offered by the dealer in Atlanta, Georgia with 82,282 miles on the odometer, a dealer-installed battery tender, original factory literature, two Maybach-branded cell phones, two Maybach-specific keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
The 5.7-meter long body is finished in single tone Caspian Black Metallic (972) with standard chrome body accents. The exterior features bi-xenon headlamps with heated washers, front and rear fog lamps, rear view mirrors with integrated markers, and a glass sunroof. The recent Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage. Detailed photos are included in the gallery showing individual body panels and glass. Minor rock chips can be seen on the nose of the car.
Factory chrome 19″ Maybach-exclusive wheels wear Continental Premium Contact tires measuring 275/50 all around with 2013 date codes shown. The front brakes feature dual calipers.
The cabin is trimmed in Black Leather (531) across the dashboard, door cards, seats, armrests, center console, and steering wheel. Amboyna wood veneer was optioned to accent the cabin and shows across the dashboard, door cards, steering wheel, grab handles, dome light, gauge pods, and rear screen surrounds. Factory amenities include heated and ventilated dynamic seats in the front and rear, a heated steering wheel, rear seat entertainment, a power rear curtain, dual laminated glass, original COMAND with rear displays, ancillary gauge pods for rear passengers, vanity mirrors, two Maybach branded mobile phones, and Maybach branded headphones. Detailed photos of interior features can be seen in the gallery.
The Amboyna wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel frames a 160mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer with an analog inset clock, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and a digital readout. The six-digit odometer shows 82k miles.
The Maybach-specific M285 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V12 was rated at 543 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired to a 722.6 automatic five-speed transmission. A complete fluid flush has been performed in preparation for the sale and additional recent service includes a new battery, new alternator, and comprehensive inspection.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage along with linear mileage updates since new. This Maybach 57 is now offered in Atlanta, Georgia with 82k miles on the odometer, a dealer-installed battery tender, original factory literature, two Maybach-branded cell phones, two Maybach-specific keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
It’s often assumed the Maybach revival of the early 2000’s was built on the then-current S-Class chassis (W220) but there’s a very specific reason the chassis code for the Maybach was W240. When engineered, it was discovered the W220 platform wasn’t robust enough to carry the weight for the maybach and perform as intended so the older W140 chassis were modified and given a new life through the brand’s revival. While technology may have been somewhat interchangeable, the Maybach was rebuilt from the ground-up and featured all the usual accoutrements of the finest luxury automobiles from exclusive wood grains to hand stitched and brushed leathers. This exclusivity combined with timeless styling and hints of art-deco cues in the cabin made for a formidable land yacht and an instant future classic.

@Begodo It's definitely a positive when they receive a new one. The alternator seems to be the achilles heel for many aging Maybachs. As we approach the final hours of the auction let us know if there are any lingering questions!

I am still floored that the replacement of an alternator cost more than 1/3 of the current bid price. These are spectacular machines, no doubt, but dated electronics and spectacular maintenance costs are going to be table stakes for such a luxurious ride and an ongoing concern. That said, I would still love to own it.

@Mountainrd27 Not sure I'd agree. You're spot on with the historical significance of Maybach to both MB and the industry but this was absolutely on par with the Phantom of the time and a great solution for those looking to be just a little under the radar by comparison. Either way, @thembmarket nails it. These are still so cool for using the modified 140 chassis.
I never really warmed to this Brand of MB....I don't know why. The whole Maybach concept, while I appreciate its historical significance to MB...I dunno...it was kinda like Volkswagen trying to bring an upscale clientele to warm to its Phaeton...it just never made sense. If your going to go "upscale" from a Benz, your moving into Rolls territory anyway, so, just get a Rolls. Im thinking that is why is sort of disappeared for awhile. Good luck with this. Should be interesting.

I'm not particularly huge on these Maybach models, but owning Chris Tucker's 57 would be its own kind of cool.

All, we've uploaded the receipt from the dealer for the alternator. For those unfamiliar, this is not a light job. The bill was $13,635.
Amazing how many nooks and crannies they could cram into these cars. Champagne flutes not needed for a 57- get in and enjoy the very quiet drive!
$22,222 bid placed by @Slowrider
Nice looking example- seems the paint has held up well given the slightly higher than average miles. Funny, I grew up on the Rush Hour movies....definitely ups the cool factor!
@EuropeanC Thanks for asking- this car wasn't optioned with the rear tables. As for the flutes and umbrella, they're not with the car but in storage. We expect to have them in hand this week and will update with photos once they are. Window Sticker seems to have been misplaced along the way, a VIN decode may help with options. thanks!

Hello GasMotorcars I did not see any tables in the back? Did the car not have them? I am not seeing any silver champagne flutes either? Is the umbrella in the trunk missing? Do you have the window sticker by any chance? Thanks
Welcome to our 2004 Maybach 57 auction! As the header suggests this car is celebrity owned and has been since day one by Chris Tucker (For those of you unfamiliar, watch Rush Hour or Friday!) Under his ownership the selling dealer has maintained it as needed as it’s been sold from him personally to an LLC and moved (hence the Carfax showing a few owners). We’ve been familiar with this 57 for several years and can attest to not only the cleanliness of this example but also the functionality of various features highlighted by the Maybach brand. Please let us know if you have any questions or want to see something not shown in the gallery. Over the course of the auction we welcome any appointments in Marietta, GA to see the car in person. Thanks!
