Thanks everyone for bidding! I wanted to apologize and say my phone died while I was out and about in Chicago on vacation and had no way to interact with bidders. I’ve reached out to the winner and to answer one question, yes they hold air!
@amgnut A quick Google search provided me with information that a W140 S600 has a wheel offset of ET 46. In the photo gallery provided, these have an offset of ET 38. That said, I'd reference this thread here to see what people fitting on their cars: https://www.benzworld.org/threads/w140-wheels-rims-tires-fitment.1497096/
@Braxxton401On the generous side, I'd safely budget $150 per wheel for shipping.
@IlovebigtoysI’d correspond sizes with this old Benz World stickied thread: https://www.benzworld.org/threads/r129-wheel-sizes-with-ets.1449768/ I’m inclined to say they will fit after a little bit of reading.
Welcome everyone to the auction! I'm helping auction my brother's Ronal-Lorinser wheels that came off a W210 1997 E420 with a Brabus appearance package that he's had in his garage for the past year. Being an AMG specialty technician, he's collected a fair amount of rare, esoteric parts over the years and is just clearing space. They need a little love and he just wants them to go to an enthusiast home. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll get back to you. Thanks everyone!
Thanks for the bids everyone and the good questions! @RENNtech6 seems super excited to get into his first classic Mercedes and I'm excited for him to get into one of the best chassis Mercedes-Benz has built. I'm super passionate about these cars that are not the cleanest examples but deserve love and restoration which is why I made this secondary account to find these things and get them out to enthusiasts. Thanks for watching the auction!
As far as the miles reflecting the milage, based off of how supportive the seats are it honestly could be accurate. The car did a lot of sitting resulting in some fuzzy aluminum in the engine bay and the cracked dash is indicative of it seeing sun. It's hard to tell with this car.
@clonskiOdometer functions as per the video. The owner told me it has always functioned during his 12 years of ownership. We unfortunately don't know the accuracy previous to that. I don't remember seeing any rust on the hinges or I would have photographed it. Sorry for the late responses, I got tied up at work for an emergency.
@clonskiThanks for the questions! 1: The SLS does have fluid and I spotted no leaks in the system. The accumulators have a rubber diaphragm in them that degrade and burst over time resulting in a harsh ride over bumps in the rear. Those accumulators have failed. Super easy job to tackle for the home mechanic and parts are available. Part No. 1233200215. About $95 each (need two) from FCP Euro plus SLS fluid. 2: A/C does not blow cold. Will probably need a flush and a recharge with PAG 150 oil and R134a refrigerant. 3: Floor pans are good. I see what you’re talking about in the photos. I think that was surface damage from a floor jack in the undercoating when I zoom in on the picture. I was relieved to find no chassis rust on the car when I had my head under there with a flashlight. I’ll see if I can get better existing pictures up of the door sills. Let me know if you have anything else troubling you!
I have the walk-around and driving video uploaded for your viewing please along with service records.
@Motor275Mixed is about 24 MPG with a 19 gallon fuel tank. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 - 450 miles on a tank.
@Thefrenchman I'll have MBM upload my rather long winded driving video of the car tonight or tomorrow where I cover everything in a first drive impression. I've owned several concours condition 123s in the past, so I'm able to use my experience to tell what was wrong with this one which I thoroughly covered in the video. From my memory, rear accumulators need to be tended to. Locks do not work and will need to have a MittyVac and some patience to fix. Suspension felt tight otherwise. Auto Benz went through it. Service records will be uploaded tonight hopefully. Windows all work. Rear left is a little slow. I shot all the rust issues in the photos -- notable by the antenna and surface corrosion on the door sills. The undercarriage looked super clean upon inspection.
I welcome everyone to the auction of this 1982 Mercedes-Benz 300TDT! Please let me know if you have any questions about the vehicle. I'm brokering the sale for a friend on my secondary MBM account since I'm embedded in the Mercedes-Benz community more so than the current owner and am more than happy to find a new steward for the S123 since these are important cars to me. Just want to add a correction to the listing and say it does come with two keys not one. After a long conversation with the owner, he wanted to buy this car ages ago off a family friend. When it was time to let it go, they contacted him to see if he wanted to buy it per his request years ago. So it found a new home in Kennesaw, Georgia where Auto Benz pumped some money into it and the owner, using many Kent Bergsma videos and writeups, fixed it up slowly over time and was driven occasionally. He's now moving and just wants to find the right home for the car, which is why I said auctioning it off on The MB Market guarantees a responsible buyer for an old car.
