While true a few of the special features of this car may need attention I think its important to put everything in perspective. The former owner, an elderly women gave up the car as she stopped driving and had moved to assistant living. Her husband, who had bought the car new passed away almost 10 tears ago. Its fair to say they were well past the enthusiast stage of ownership. However it is evident by the service records listed in detail on the car fax , that they did everything necessary to maintain the cars performance. I set my reserve at a very competitive level. So while some may take issue that its not a perfect car , many others will see opportunity.
@Jonnycomelately I owe you a cocktail if your ever in the San Diego area. I followed your instructions and now the Soft Close option is working on all 4 doors. Thank you !
@LWB250 I just checked both seats operation for that feature; referenced in the owners manual as Multicontour Backrest. There are 5 different adjustment operators. All seems to work fine with the following exceptions: On both seats the "side bolster adjustment" does not appear to work. On the drivers seat the "center" position seemed to work slowly, weaker than the others. I will submit a photo to the gallery of the owners manual page explaining its operation with a diagram..
@s600man It was just brought to me attention yesterday that the S600 had the soft close doors as standard equipment. (My usual focus is 1970's and older European classics) It appears it is not working on my car on any of the doors and never has while in my possession. However they shut fine, like a Bank Vault as typical for Mercedes. The truck soft close works fine. The rear privacy shade does not go up, you just hear a click when pressing the button. The windows, sunroof, A/C, power seats, and Factory radio are all in working order. There are no noises from the car. As previously mentioned the center console cup holder does not retract in; this causes difficulty in getting the upper console open to access the Factory phone, which of course is non-op from obsolescence. In addition the small dash board glove box does not open. Bill
@floman There are no signs of repair to the core support and inner fenders, Several photos are in the gallery. The underside looks undisturbed. What ever happened back at that time is not evident today.
Thank you for all the interest in my auction. Please reach out if you have any specific questions, or to arrange to have you or a representative view the car before the end of the auction. I also have extensive experience in shipping cars both domestically and overseas. Bill (619) 540-4637
@PCM1 I had contacted a Mercedes Corporate Product Specialist who told me there were just 139 sold in North America in 1999. Hope this helps. Bill
@FXRcR1 Thanks; will be posting some additional photos including a few of the underside along with a video of the engine running. Bill
