I believe whole heartedly this is a genuine, original PRE-Merger AMG 6.0 car from AMG Japan. I purchased this car without a stroke test being done from another collector in Canada. I wish everyone the best and feel confident the next owner will be over the moon with their purchase, there is nothing else like it on the market.
Sorry I’ve been absent. Goodluck to all the bidders. One of these, in this colour combo will likely never come up again. Don’t miss. No-reserve, bid now or forever hold your peace!
@jnasty I agree! 15 years ago, faking definitely wasn't ROI positive. If you google the vin of this car, you'll find this thread from 16 years when the car first came to Canada. Note, all the original AMG parts and pieces were in place way back then! Except it had the SL70 AMG BBS wheels instead of the OZ racing three piece wheels it currently sits on.
If any serious buyers would like to schedule a PPI send me a private message and we’ll see what we can do. I’ll see what I can do about performing a measurement of the stroke length. I actually find the sticker comments offside, you couldn’t find half of the genuine stickers on this car let alone patina on everything and the AMG japan vin plaque. This is a genuine Pre-merger AMG modified car, there is no doubting that.
Hi guys, I went looking last night for a block stamp but didn’t find anything. I bought it as a 6L car as the door jamb vin plaque was enough for me. I only ever saw vin plaques like that from AMG japan denoting the 6.0-4V on real cars. I understand that may not be enough for some people! I’ll also be posting a driving video soon. Standby!
Hey everyone! Welcome to the auction for my Pre-merger AMG! Really special car, coolest thing on the road. I get the most thumbs up in this car than anything else. Its got such amazing curb appeal and presence with the boxiness and colour matched wheels. Cool fact, this is a very similar spec to the Ex-Sultan of Brunei's pre-merger car. Take a look at that one here: https://www.classicinsider.com/product-page/ex-brunei-mercedes-r129-500sl-6-0-amg Personally, I like the Palomino though! In respect to the soft top hydraulics, no shops locally to me were able to do this in house they'd have to ship them to the US first, so I figured it would be easier for someone to buy it and I’ll reimburse you the re-seal cost up to $2,500 USD (assuming the lucky winner is US based). This car is also EPA and DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old, so zero import troubles! As for the stamping on the block, when I was in there before I couldn’t see anything but I’ll take another look. and @ammaraj24 this is a Japanese vin so it doesn’t decode on Carfax.com or .ca
