@gsxrThat's the problem. If you cannot register the car due to US government regulations on imports, than you cannot get parts for it here since it cannot be registered as is. So many parts and systems have to be modified to make it pass US rules. Not worth the hassles. Better to wait until a car is 25+ years old and then can bring it in with no restrictions.
I would have bid on this unusual vehicle but being that it is originally from outside of North America, almost impossible to get it into US and meet EPA and USHTA rules. Even if you can do everything required the cost is prohibitive. I almost bought a super clean 2005 E55 AMG Wagon in Europe to bring to US. Did the research and probably would have spent more than the car would be worth even if successfully converted and certified. Can brin in the cars older than 25 years with no problems. Also the local Mercedes dealer told me that with the European Vin, they couldn't even sell me parts for it. Too bad. Very nice cars over there.
