Final 10 minutes of the auction are now here! If anyone has any last minute questions in regards to the car please feel free to ask them in the comments below. If anyone else needs other shipping quotes, please feel free to also contact us via the 'contact seller' button.
Ladies and gentlemen we were able to transfer the images of the undercarriage of the car to this auction thanks to @thembmarket If there are any other questions, please let me know! Already offered a shipping quote to some individuals that would like to calculate it. Feel free to message through the contact seller button.
@JLKMBI do not have a way to demonstrate the car at the moment since it is in storage. The video that I made involves sound from two parts. One part is the exhaust with the microphone attached to it, making it sound that way and the other audio that lets you hear the keys and some wind noise from the inside is from the actual camera. I had two sources of audio in the video that I blended together. The car runs on all cylinders smoothly.
@Michr001Do you mind emphasizing the number of the image? I can't seem to pick up on anything other than surface rust anywhere on the vehicle. Nothing visible that is cancerous on the car.
@MiltonMintyThank you very much for the compliment. I like to present cars in a way that it leaves no questions in the air as far as the presentation is concerned. FOR ALL PARTIES INTERESTED This car was previously listed here, but reserve was not meant so we're running it again at no reserve. Since then, the car has been maintained in climate controlled storage with Hagerty garage in West Palm beach with the owner currently enjoying the green coupe I sold him and this car being started periodically and appropriately without having to be taken out. The previous listing that you can find here has some questions that have been answered that you or any other interested party might have in addition to extra 50 or so images of the underside in the gallery. ALL windows work, all switches work, even the buzzing for the seatbelt works as well. AC blows healthily and cold for a car of this vintage (In my personal preference, I would tint the windows with clear ceramic tint to have the cabin even cooler while maintaining that classic look) to where it can be driven during the day and it won't be uncomfortable. I'll have @thembmarket add the images from that collection to this one to avoid having to go back and forth, in the meantime feel free to visit this link; https://thembmarket.com/1972-mercedes-benz-280sel-4-5-1
@nptmbmThe exhaust was replaced and what you're hearing is the microphone being placed too close to the actual tips of the exhaust causing the mic to record more of a putter than the tone. It also is a naturally quiet engine. As far as alignment is concerned the car is in need of one after addressing the tie rods.
@Jim_RosenthalIn reference to the rust repairs done to the car, by the rear quarters there was minor bubbling underneath the aluminum trim. The trim was removed and all rust present was grinded down, repaired, appropriately matched and covered in new trim with the original aluminum trim included in the sale of the vehicle as well as various other parts seen in the gallery.
Welcome back ladies and gentlemen, we are pleased to bring this car back to the platform at NO RESERVE! This is a great example of classic Mercedes luxury and power. Having had recent services and strong bones, this is a car that is excellent for a date night or nice stroll into town. Having served its current owner (whom we are representing) as a reliable and enjoyable Sunday cruiser/Golf day commuter, this Benz is now ready to be enjoyed by its next Mercedes Benz enthusiast!
No worries! We'll find a good home soon. See you on the next one!
Good bidding war going on!
Here we are at the final 30 minutes of the auction, reserve has been lowered and we're looking forward to finding a new home and new adventures for this awesome G wagen!
For those who asked about AC. Update on the AC; the system would need new evap, condenser, and blower to make it work. Whoever buys this can choose to upgrade the unit that is in the car or fully redo it with something else and use the OEM vents in the dash for a cleaner install. The car also just got the transfer case fluid swapped out as of yesterday when we shot the undercarriage.
Welcome to the closing day ladies and gentlemen! Should any of you have any further questions in regards to the car, please feel free to contact us. We've spoken to quite a few interested parties and we are looking forward to seeing this go to a new home!
Happy hump day ladies and gentlemen! Pictures of the undercarriage of the car are being added shortly. All part numbers that I was able to reach were shot including the frame stampings. The car looks as solid underneath as it does on the exterior with no signs of leaks. We are currently diagnosing the AC and seeing what it needs exactly to be in working order.
@kfine I’m going to reach out to G Mercedes once more to see if they can help clarify some questions since they’re the ones that brought it in and everything the owner has on the car records/info wise is what’s in the listing.
@rhoskinsI’m going to take it to the shop to shoot underneath the vehicle to have some pictures for the auction. While there, I will ask to see what it is about the AC unit that isn’t working. It’s an aftermarket one that can be removed should someone wish to not have it in the cabin and redo the AC using factory vents.
@ajxkno the original steel wheels were corroded. Date codes on the tires are 2016 with healthy tread and not showing any signs of dry rotting.
Welcome welcome! Today we start the auction of this awesome military G wagon that has been upgraded to make it more enjoyable while still retaining its classic ruggedness. This G is for someone looking for a retired military G that needs that extra spouse/family approval. The nice vinyl seats, arm padding in the rear, headliner and extra sound deadening makes the drive much more enjoyable. Starting up every time without fail, this G will take you anywhere you’d like! Underbody images coming later this week when a lift frees up. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact us. Happy bidding!
@raffihappy holidays. Feel free to send us an email. It’s [email protected]
@widebodyamgadd @gmail to our user and send us an email! We'd love to get in touch.
@trilldizzleluckily it could be had for much less than that! Hoping to find this beauty a new home soon.
I will say between @Rado and @HHintown this has been incredibly fun. I am confident we'll get this car a new home!
New player joined!
@124guyArguably more useful too.
@JonasThanks for the kind words. I think it literally is the only RENNtech SL74 on the market...also, Pagani sound for an 8th of the price? Sign me up!
Almost there! Dropping reserve.
Final hour ladies and gents! Whoever puts the highest bid now logically has to make it a number ending in 420...
Happy Tuesday ladies and gentlemen. Today someone is going to be getting themselves a new toy just in time for the holidays! If there are any questions in regards to the car, please feel free to reach out.
No worries ladies and gentlemen. We will be looking forward to finding this car a new home soon!
Here we are at the final hour ladies and gentlemen. If there are any last minute questions, please do not feel shy to ask them. You can comment here on the auction or reach out via the contact seller button. Many good questions asked and great people met through that added feature!
@raffiprecisely. I have the camera recording inside on a suction cup with its own audio (hence you hear when I burned myself on the seat belt and windows actuating) then another external audio recorder in the trunk with microphone wired and taped to the outside of the car. It makes the presentation more professional and you’re able to hear what the car actually sounds like. Feel free to see the Renntech we have live at the moment on here so you can hear that V12 scream!
In the driving video, I had the exhaust being recorded with a microphone tucked under the bumper, above the exhaust tips. It helped capture the sound of the engine, but it may have been too close. This exhaust sounds great under load, while cruising this car likes to putter along comfortably however the proximity of the microphone captured more putter than growl in this case. The car pulls healthy with no strange idle or difficulty getting up to speed. As seen in the documents and invoices provided, it has had recent services to ensure it is ready to be driven and enjoyed. This is a car that can be taken out to dinner or coffee and can be a great starter for someone looking to get into a classic Benz.
@DriveClassicThanks!
@StevieboyI’m not a dealer. I represent vehicles at auction for private owners and individuals that want to sell their cars but don’t have the time to do it themselves, nor want to go via consignment route with a dealer.
@BlueridgeMBThanks for the love! A good friend of ours has told us great things about your facility.
@Jim_RosenthalAfter seeing what dry ice can do, I would do it to any car I plan on taking to concourses. We also try to make the purchasing experience as easy as it can be showing people as close to every inch as possible to make it seem like they're inspecting the car themselves.
Happy Hump Day! We are very honored to present this stunning and rare creation from the brilliant minds at RENNtech. This is one of the very few SL74s made, it truly is unbelievable to experience the way this car puts down power. Built in the 90s, this SL still competes with modern sports cars of today thanks to its insane horsepower and torque numbers after RENNtech's touch, while still being a delightful cruiser that is calm and collected as well. This is the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of the R129 platform and is bound to excite its next owner.
Howdy and welcome all! Happy Monday. We are very happy to present this 280SEL. This is a great example of classic Mercedes luxury and power. Having had recent services and strong bones, this is a car that is excellent for a date night or nice stroll into town. Upon sale the vehicle will be going back into service to get an alignment as the driving video was taken right after the job was completed to prepare it for sale. Undercarriage images and driving video are being uploaded and added shortly so stay tuned!
Congratulations @Johnrosserickson this is now YOUR 280GE! Great bidding war between the two gentlemen. Thanks again to @thembmarket for the great auction!
Reserve is off!
Nail biter over here! Who's going to end up with the Mule?
Let's find this car a new home! Bid confidently as this is known locally as "the Mule" because it NEVER left the owner or his wife stranded and served their family many memories and tons of utility.
Happy Friday ladies and gentlemen! Today we help find this 280GE a new home. For those that need to ask any last minute questions, feel free to hit the "contact seller" button, I've met some great individuals and collectors through here and am happy to meet more.
Next up, our 280GE...see you there!
Congratulations to @laxski32! Very pleased to see that this car has found a new home.
We are close!
Welcome to the final hours of the auction ladies and gentlemen! If you have any questions, feel free to hit the contact seller button. I've had excellent conversations with those that have inquired and met many fellow Benz fanatics. Looking forward to handing this car off to another enthusiast and building more relationships!
One day left ladies and gentlemen! If there are any questions in regards to this car, please feel free to hit the contact seller button. "Esmeralda" the green 280C is ready for its next owner to enjoy.
Happy Monday ladies and gentlemen, @gnarbie I am going to move the car into another storage so today while it is out, I'll be sure to record all the shifting mechanisms and get a video of the car operating at highway speeds.
@Kirillva Updated images have been added to the gallery going over all the maintenance with window sticker scanned/manuals/records to help give an idea of the maintenance it has gone through throughout its life.
Howdy Howdy! Auction number two of many more to come. We are super happy to represent this 280GE that is coming out of a local Mercedes Benz collector that has a huge passion for bringing cars up to speed and ensuring they are turn key at any given moment. This one which he called his "mule" was his wife's daily for the last 2 years and family errand car. Every aspect of this car is in great working order. No need to worry about the Miami heat or humidity as it has excellent AC which is an absolute necessity. He also updated the car with modern components in the steering and the ignition system with 1-2-3 Ignition that can be programmed via mobile phone! This car also has 3M ceramic tints all around the car preserving the classic OEM look while eliminating the heat in the cabin. Underside pictures are being uploaded as we speak along with a driving video with cold start of "The Mule". Bid confidently as this car can take whoever buys it, absolutely anywhere.
@KirillvaAll metal on the car is solid and strong with zero visible signs of rust. In the album of listing photos we also have the underbody shot. This car has had all typical service items addressed throughout its life with no need for any bushings or mechanical work needed at the moment. It is ready to drive with no rattles or creeks and all suspension components are in great shape.
Happy Monday ladies and gentlemen! We are very happy to present this 280C. This is owned by a very avid enthusiast and Benz collector who is absolutely obsessed with having his cars in perfect working order. This particular 280C was his own daily driver for a year and it never failed him with perfectly functioning AC (especially in the hot Miami climate and to ensure the comfort of his passengers). It was maintained by the best vintage Benz specialist in Miami with excellent, modern upgrades that only add to the experience. For anyone with questions feel free to hit the 'contact seller' button!
This car was an absolute blast to shoot with. Whoever ends up with this is getting an AMG legend with fantastic mileage and incredible condition!
