@amge63swagon Do you still have the mounting hardware and the hard case and chrome ring? If so, is the case painted the same as the truck and the ring in good shape?
Where's the spare?
@Benz919wagonI'm definitely going to miss seeing this baby from the moment it's gone. I may have to arrange for periodic visitation, maybe in Asheville?
And a huge hats off to Ben, Blakely and everyone else who've put so much time, effort and care into getting this website up and running. It has been a true pleasure to work with Ben to get my car ready and up for auction. I strongly recommend these guys and am so glad I went this route rather than BaT, as these guys are true MB enthusiasts with a truly personal touch.
That was great fun, and I really appreciate all the interest and all the bids! @Benz919wagon will be getting the only known Mars Red E500 4Matic RENNtech wagon that exists on planet Earth!
@BlueridgeMBAnd very much appreciated! It will be bittersweet to see her go...
Thanks for all the bids and all the inquiries, so far. I'm available to answer any last-minute questions and looking forward to finding out where this beautiful beast goes to live next!
@Tad5444 Also, there was no "accident". There was the very slowest of pulling too closely to a curb that was too high. There was also a whole lot of cussing upon realizing what had just happened...
@LincolnAMG Close-ups of all four wheels will be posted soon. I assume the "curbing" comment was referring to the right front wheel.
@Tad5444 I'm not sure what you're seeing, but nothing about the grill alignment has changed since my purchase in 2016. If anything looks off, it may be due to the aftermarket bumper assembly.
@Hardrivn The rear brakes are stock and the pads replaced recently, so didn't think to have those photographed/measured.
@Hardrivn Please see photos added of the big RENNtech-branded Brembo brakes.
@Hardrivn All work that's been done is reflected in the records. I can check with my shop (Revolution) about the size of rotors and pads, and hopefully let you know first thing Monday morning.
@Arbasica Absolutely. I'll be back in town late on Sunday and can show it on Monday. I'm not sure how to communicate privately/directly, but let's figure it out and make the arrangements.
@LincolnAMG No, I don't have any documentation from RENNtech, but not for lack of trying. I and others have contacted RENNtech directly in an effort to get documentation from them, but due to a purported change in their record-keeping process and/or because they don't have anything from as far back as 2005, we're told the records cannot be retrieved.
In addition to the original window sticker, I also have all owner's manuals, both keys, and MB-branded key chain from Brumos in Jacksonville that was presumably provided to the original owner at delivery.
Walk-around and driving videos will be added soon.
@Boatymcboatface I bought the car from the second owner who was the shop foreman at a MB dealership in Ft. Myers. He bought it from the original owner who told him that immediately after buying it new he had it painted red and had all of the RENNtech modifications done. I understand that he really wanted a red, 4matic AMG wagon, but there's never been such a thing so he had it created just for him. Sounds crazy, but apparently resulted in the only Mars Red RENNtech E500 wagon, ever. The owner and RENNtech were both in Florida at the time. I wish I knew where he had it painted, because they did an amazing job. Everything about the paint job looks absolutely original, and the only way to know that it's not the original color is by looking at the data card. The paint job is really that perfect.
@CJCMB I don't currently have any such pictures but will look into getting those for you. I'd need to find out what's involved in removing the airbox, as I have no business trying to figure that out on my own.
Seller here. Thanks for the bids, so far! I'm monitoring the auction and am available to answer questions or provide additional information. Also hoping to have a driving video added soon. It's hard to hear the wonderful, low growl in the photos...
