@GoBoGoThank you, I appreciate that. Yes, a good wheel refinishing shop should be able to refinish them in silver or even do a two-tone setup with a silver lip/barrel and darker face/insert, depending on the buyer’s preference. Since they are two-piece forged wheels, there is definitely room to change the finish if someone wanted a more period-correct AMG-style look with a little more contrast or shine.
As we enter the final stages of the auction, I just wanted to thank everyone for the interest, comments, and questions so far. I also wanted to mention that I forgot to upload a photo of the owner’s manual, but the car does include the original owner’s manual as well. Please feel free to ask any last questions before the auction closes. I’m happy to provide any additional details needed.
@mikelacaTo my knowledge, the 2006 W220/S55 with the U.S.-spec DVD-based COMAND system was not equipped with a factory AUX-in jack in the glove box or armrest. Mercedes used different audio/COMAND configurations across the W220 years and markets, so some earlier or non-U.S. setups may differ, but this particular car does not have a factory AUX input.
@mikelaca Yes, the car has an MR12Volt Bluetooth adapter installed while retaining the original factory head unit. It allows Bluetooth audio streaming through the factory Bose surround sound system, which sounds great. The installation was done cleanly and professionally without cutting or altering the factory wiring, so the original system remains fully functional. You can also change songs using the steering wheel buttons. Please refer to photos 308 and 385.
@ostigacThank you very much for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I’ve tried to be as transparent as possible with the car and provide as much information as I can. It has been very well cared for, and I agree, whoever ends up with it will be getting a very special S55 and many, many worry free miles!!
@mikelacaThe car is lowered approximately 1 inch in the front and 0.75 inch in the rear for a cleaner stance while retaining the ABC suspension. The lowering links are fully adjustable, so the ride height can be adjusted to the next owner’s preference. I also have the factory stock ride-height links, which will be included with the sale. Please refer to photo 392 for the lowering link invoice. The car has original paint all around, including both bumpers. Paint meter readings were taken on every panel for transparency and can be seen in photos 313–340. I hope the listing description and photos help answer any additional questions, but please feel free to ask if anything else is needed.
@mikelacaThank you for the question. The car is currently fitted with a brand new custom 19” two-piece forged wheel set. The original wheels had cracks on the inner barrels, and although wheel repairs are possible, I personally did not feel comfortable continuing to use repaired wheels on a car like this. Because of that, I replaced them with a new forged set built to the same OEM sizing/specs, so the car would retain the proper ride quality, fitment, and overall AMG-style appearance. The wheels have a two-tone finish with a gloss black barrel/lip and satin black face, which gives them a nice contrast. The car also has a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and new TPMS sensors installed.
