Thank you everyone, especially @VariousProjects and @Volvoguy87 for a very exciting auction!
Thank you everyone who has been interested in this unique wagon. I've thoroughly enjoyed answering your questions, and will be available over the next two hours to answer more. Good luck everyone!
I also want to clarify what is seen in the very last picture above, with the tailgate open, just before "The MB Market Insights" - it looks like dirt, or bubbling, or something worse next to the rubber gasket. That is actually 3M PPF that I had leftover, applied to the bumper area to keep it scratch free, but it's bubbling right next to the gasket. Its easy enough to remove PPF though.
I want to note that during a test drive with a potential bidder today, in bright sunlight we saw a slight crack in the center touchpad controller. I have pictures of it in bright sun, versus ordinary light, as well as a PDF of a technical service bulletin from Mercedes (again, this car is covered under CPO extended warranty until 2025) Crack in Sun: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12ZLJ4CgStGiOThqdQ2u0ZQKGe47wrdNm/view?usp=drive_link Normal view: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y3s-hAcY-PZdd7fP0l1wb_idb1qkJoLp/view?usp=drive_link PDF of Mercedes Service Bulletin: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vaCxYal2RG_MhPDcM7a-keXg032DqX7g/view?usp=drive_link I was not aware of this crack until today, when the full sun lit it up. Apparently it's something that shows up during hot temperatures, but I have not discussed with my local dealership. I saw one replacement guide here: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/2014+2015+2016+2017+2018+2019+2020+Mercedes-Benz+C-Class+W205+COMAND+Centre-Dial+Touchpad+Replacement/137292
@GoBoGoit is a deep green in bright light, but in overcast conditions it is darker. This photo shows it well though: https://thembmarket.com/2018-mercedes-benz-e400-wagon-1#close
@DropthehammerNo alignment issues. I happened to have a complete set of Continentals from another car in my fleet, and decided to move them over when I upgraded the other car's wheels and tires. I'm not a huge fan of run-flat/mobility tires, but I still have the original Goodyear "mobility" tires and they are in great condition. There would be no need for tire swapping if I hadn't had that other car and an opportunity to do so.
@cmyk553CPO Extended expires March 2025 and has unlimited miles
@UncleScrooge69Thank you. It's quite a striking color in bright sun! Checkout this collection of undercarriage photos I took when it was up on my lift. I think it's what you are looking for - just copy and past the link in a new browser tab - (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LCv0MM9PQFlyWXTNERjNO2auqY_iqSnU?usp=sharing)
We are having lots of rain here in Vermont, so the weather is not ideal for taking more pictures, but if anyone wants more detail about something, let me know, so that I can take advantage of sun when/if it appears.
@gboutonMy partner really wanted a BMW X5, so we ordered one, but it wasn't built to our order, and we rejected it. I found this lovely wagon a week later, and neither one of us talked about the X5 since. Now, if Mercedes would just make a pickup...
@gboutonI took off the left rear wheel, and made a video, and captured a few more photos for you and posted here (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LCv0MM9PQFlyWXTNERjNO2auqY_iqSnU?usp=sharing) The fender liner covers the end of the subframe nicely, and since I don't live on a dirt road, it's free of sand, gravel or mud. Hope that helps!
@gboutonWow - that video made me shudder! I have some photos that I took when I was preparing the car for sale, that you can see on a shared folder (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LCv0MM9PQFlyWXTNERjNO2auqY_iqSnU?usp=sharing) , but it looks like I might have to get the wheel off to see more detail. I don't recall what the subframe design is now on these models, and whether it has a big mud-trapping hole.
@sean_kelly@morgej See the very end of the gallery for the Monroney and the Mercedes Build sheet please.
@cm3esquirelong drives are so much easier, with the auto-steering and adaptive cruise, and the massaging seats engaged. I also like the "active" seats that provide a gentle squeeze around corners
The tires you see in one of the photos with the red covers are the 4 mounted Michelin snow tires on Mercedes wheels with TPMS. Very little use. Those are available, as are the 4 original very low mileage Goodyear runflats.
@gboutonNo apologies necessary. Absolutely has support for Apple Carplay, both wired, and wireless. I've also enjoyed the hotspot, when traveling, so that I can use the laptop while on the road. It's also easy to send an address to the car, through the phone app, so that you can just jump in and start navigating there.
@gboutonIt does include wiring. They have a clever magnet that clips the wires up out of the way. It is a 4 pin connector, with a cap that covers it and keeps it clean.
@morgejYes, I have window sticker from Moroney Labels, and a build sheet derived from the VIN from this site: https://www.mbdecoder.com/ - let me see if we can add to gallery.
Hello, I want to introduce myself as the seller. This is my first auction, but I'll do my best to answer all your questions. We are reluctantly selling this car, after a long search to acquire it, only because we are relocating, and need a truck. This car has absolutely set a standard in my mind for what a comfortable long trip car should be, with a great ride, smart and accurate adaptive cruise and lane keeping, and the best massaging seats I've ever experienced. I will likely miss the seats the most, followed by the incredibly capable headlight system. What has surprised me most is how astonished some people are at the amount of cargo room! I am happy to have someone visit and test drive the car, or have a technician check it out while it's for sale. I also want to note that I travel to Boston, Connecticut, and Florida frequently, so there may even be an option for delivery?
