This 1974 Mercedes-Benz 240D 4-speed project is finished in Papyrus White (717) over Black MB-Tex and was ordered new by the current owner’s grandfather in 1973. Factory 14″ steel wheels with Papyrus White hubcaps are equipped and wear Advanta tires measuring 195/70 on all four corners. The tires show 2021 date codes and the hubcaps show some wear.
The cabin features seats upholstered in Black MB-Tex with matching door panels, carpets, and dash. The front seats wear black sheepskin covers and the dashboard shows some cracks and fading. The 2.4-liter OM616 diesel inline-four was factory rated at 64 horsepower and 101 lb-ft of torque and is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission. The car is noted to run and drive.

The W115 cars have become increasingly rare and while this example leaves something to be desired in the cosmetics department, it’s a good driver with a great history and all the patina the modern enthusiast could hope for.
