This Euro-Spec 1984 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC was ordered new for the Spanish market and was reportedly exported to the United States in November of 1985 by a doctor in San Fransisco. It remained with the original importing owner in California until being acquired by the selling dealer in 2024, and is still on the original 1985 CA title. The SEC is finished in Classic White (737) over Black Leather (251), and power is provided by a Euro 5.0-liter V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with LSD. Equipment includes 17" AMG monoblock wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, original Becker head unit with integrated Bluetooth, and cruise control. Recent service within the last 100 miles includes replacement of the timing chain and tensioner, valve cover gaskets, shifter bushings, a new battery, an A/C recharge, complete exhaust system, front lower ball joints, four new Michelin tires, and an alignment. Now located in Waltham, Massachusetts with the selling dealer, this Euro C126 shows just under 80k miles and is offered with the original owner's manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Classic White (737) with grey lower cladding. Exterior features include U.S. headlamps, original European bumpers, lower fog lamps, a sunroof, and original glass. The seller notes the hood and top of the fenders have been previously repainted.
17" AMG monoblock wheels have been fitted with new Michelin Pilot AS4 tires measuring 215/50 on all four wheels showing 2024 date codes. Braking is handled by disc brakes at all four corners. A full-size bundt spare is located under the trunk floor along with the original tool roll and jack. The car recently received new front ball joints and an alignment when the new tires were installed.
The cabin is finished in Black Leather (251) and features original Burl Walnut trim on the center console, dash, and doors. Interior features include power windows, automatic climate control, courtesy lamps, power front seats, cruise control, and Euro headlamp adjustment switchgear. The original Becker head unit has been rebuilt and retrofitted with Bluetooth capability. The A/C was recharged upon the selling dealer's acquisition last year and is reportedly in working order.
The four-spoke original steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a combination gauge for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and instant fuel economy. The six-digit odometer shows just under 80k miles.
The unrestricted Euro 5.0-liter M117 V8 is equipped with Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 231 horsepower and 299 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed 722.3 automatic transmission. Recent service in 2024 includes replacement of the timing chain and tensioner, valve cover gaskets, shifter bushings, a new battery, complete exhaust system, and front lower ball joints for which receipts are provided in the gallery. In early 2024, the car reportedly had all fluids flushed. Underbody photos are provided in the gallery.
The included Carfax report shows first entry in August 2000 with no accidents or damage reported and registration history exclusively in California. The car remains titled under the original importing owner's name in California from 1985.

Were they the original headbolts? Were they all intact?
$10,750 bid placed by @Classicforever
@Lastkidpick2play We still have all the parts, so yes we could @Smcase There was no need to do the head bolts or remove the heads. I honestly don't hear a rattle from the car.

Were the headbolts replaced during timing chain and head work? I believe I hear something rattling at idol. Could just be the icy roads.
If won, possible to get all that was removed reinstalled for Ca emissions?

Ok thanks but be quick.
Under 2 hours! @quantumorbit we removed the air pump, the charcoal canister, and the EGR lines that were added to the car for the California emissions. None of that was original to the vehicle. We also replaced the timing chain and the chain tensioner. Yes the original title goes to the owner along with a Massachusetts Dealer reassignment form. We just went through that same process with a car we sold to the UAE. @DenisKolman78 I will look into a quote, have never shipped to Slovenia.
A cold start and driving video have been added to the listing.
@dpblues2000 Can you please elaborate on the engine bay modifications by EAS Vintage Service since the BAT auction, the smog air injection pump was removed and also the filter or cooler next to radiator in front of power steering reservoir. Looking to export the car, title isn't redeemed for a new title so would like confirmation the original title from 85 will be given to buyer. Thanks
Hi, Thanks for your reply, but I would like to ask if you could give me an approximate price for transportation and all the costs that will need to be paid, so that I can calculate how big a budget I can have. Thanks for your answer. Denis
Unfortunately, these way too big aftermarket wheels completely changed the otherwise perfect look of this car. They might look decent on a more modern MBZ, but completely out-of-place on this classic masterpiece created by Bruno Sacco. Nevertheless, it shouldn't be too complicated to find a set of OEM Bundt wheels with the appropriate tires.

Good morning everyone, today is the day we see where it goes! Had a few inquiries about the A/C. It has been converted to R134 and it works well. @Smcase22 Will have those videos up today. @DenisKolman78 We do have resources for that, happy to help coordinate it with you.
Is there a driving video and or a cold start video for this car?

Good morning, 3 more days until its new owner! Thank you for all the comments, inquiries, and bids so far. @Bimmerguy Yes the hood had some of that aluminum delamination going on. All the windows are working, will add a few pics of them all down. The gauge cluster was changed when it was federalized in 1985. That also included the door reinforcements. @Esplanade yes there are 2 keys @Ecceblack yes the lug nut had been replaced subsequent to the pictures. Will add a current pic. @6thinline9 Yes everything is working. No odd odors, just that slight older Mercedes-Benz smell you get from the old seat pads.
Was the hood and fenders painted for corrosion? Are all windows working including rear windows as in picture 10? Was the gauge cluster ever changed considering Spanish market (Euro) should have km/h not mph?
$5,500 bid placed by @Jetron24
Hello. Pix 20 shows what appears to be a missing lug nut? Do you have a correct one to replace with? Thanks
Two keys?
@dpblues2000 is there anything that doesn’t work on the car? Are there any weird interior smells? Thanks

Hello Everyone, thank you for all the bids and comments so far! This a fully sorted Euro spec. C126 that is set to go for many, many more enjoyable miles. @Vander Good pick up, I did not notice that. I do not have another matching Euro spec taillight assembly but I do a set of U.S. assemblies. Happy to make them match for the the new owner. @kokolomoush Thanks for the inquiry. Yes, cosmetically we wet sanded and buffed all the exterior paint and performed a paint correction. We pulled the seats to clean it and treat all the leather, which is all original. We cleaned the engine compartment and the undercarriage. The biggest improvement though was the 13K in mechanicals that it took to sort it out properly.
I love AMG monoblocks on a C126, so much better looking than the original wheels. It looks like it may have a U.S.-spec taillight on the passenger side?
Hello, what has changed other than the wheels cosmetically since the last sale of this vehicle on bat? Has there been paint correction performed?
