This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC has been single-family owned since 1999. Finished in Signal Red (586) over Palomino Leather (274), power is provided by a 5.5-liter V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Equipment includes automatic climate control, a power sliding sunroof, heated front seats with power adjustment and memory, cruise control and an adjustable power steering column. The car has been primarily stored and driven sparingly since 1999. The fuel tank was drained and new fuel pumps installed in preparation for the sale. This 560SEC is now offered for sale by the current owner in Grand Rapids, Michigan with both keys, a spare set of original gullideckel wheels with tires, the original tool kit, original manufacturer’s literature, a Carfax report and a clean Michigan title.
The exterior is finished in Signal Red (586) with contrasting gray lower body cladding. Chrome trim is found along the beltline as well as both front and rear bumpers. Exterior equipment includes headlight wiper/washers, a heated rear window, front fog lamps and a power sliding sunroof. The seller notes the antenna is currently inoperative. No major blemishes are noted and no rust anywhere on the body.
Five-spoke 18” Borbet wheels wear Michelin MXX3 tires measuring 245/40 on all four corners. The 560SEC features four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes along with a self-leveling rear suspension system. A spare tire and tool kit are included in the trunk. The original gullideckel wheels and tires are also included in the sale.
The cabin is trimmed in Palomino Leather (274) and features Burl Walnut wood trim which can be found on the center console, dashboard and door panels. The front seats are heated and power adjustable with two-position memory. Interior features include automatic climate control, cruise control, a power telescoping steering column and an original Becker Grand Prix radio. The seller states the driver seat belt extender is currently inoperable and the headliner has begun to sag. The radio turns on but no sound comes from the speakers. The A/C has not been recharged since 1999 and does not blow cold.
The leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, fuel economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer currently reads just under 108k miles with true mileage unknown.
This pillarless coupe is powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 which is factory rated at 238 horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Recent maintenance performed in preparation for the sale includes a draining of the fuel tank and new fuel pumps. The car is reported to start up with no hesitation and has smooth shifts. Upon inspection, the engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and hydraulic fluid all appear clean and coolant is full in the reservoir.
The car was purchased by the current owning family in 1999 and title transferred into the spouses name in 2020. The Carfax report shows a first entry in 1996 and true mileage is listed as unknown. This 560SEC is now offered with both keys, a spare set of original gullideckel wheels with tires, the original tool kit, original manufacturer’s literature, a Carfax report and a clean Michigan title.
A video below shows a walk around and interior view of the car.

Anyone can clarify why there are holes/body panel gaps at the rear wheel arches picture 38 and 44? Is that something common or what?

As an owner of a '81 SE, '82 SE, '89 SEL, '90 SEC, and '95 E320, I figured I'd input my two cents to add to the sale of this car. I would be bidding, but in the process of buying a house. This car seems to have been stored the past 20 years and was clearly not driven due to the absence of rust especially being a Michigan car. Paint job and wheels alone make this car ready for a full season of cars and coffee. The minor things don't really matter as long as the timing system and fuel system are up to par, which the owner has least addressed the fuel system. I woke up my '90 SEC after sitting for 18 years and it's the best driving car I own. The mileage absolutely makes sense, maybe providing the speedometer serial number would help us dig a little further to verify. GLWTA!

An additional cold start and engine idling video has been added to the listing, along with additional photos added to the gallery.
@DakotaB link to pictures/videos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/C365P1kXNkT5LuSg9 I acquired this vehicle from my uncles estate upon his passing in 2019. It has been in my garage, stored since. there was no documentation provided to me just a title and what my aunt could recall. I dont have information on the TMU aspect of this vehicle. When i acquired this car i had to title it from the owner that it was purchased from in 1999 as executor of the estate because he did not. i attribute this to his extensive collection that he realistically couldn't get to. this being said i was told the vehicle was driven to storage and started periodically. To answer you question about the mileage when purchased i would assume its about exactly as what it shows now as when he bought it. the odometer still runs. there is slight fogging in the left lower corner of the back window and very slight fogging on the right side corner. (adding pictures now). I spoke to someone that is well versed with these vehicles to answer your question. he advised me to check under the seal of the back window where the body lip meets the window for rust. there is zero rust along the entire bottom of the window. inside the trunk looking upwards at the steel panel with the holes there is absolutely no rust and it looks practically new. (adding pictures now). posting a cold start video now. all the lights work the wood paneling is intact. there are a few spots you can see by the doors where it is separating but over all in decent shape. i do not have any insight on why the radio is not working. it does turn on and illuminate but there is no sound. maybe due to the antenna? in the description its mentioned that the antenna does not extend. I have not tried a cassette seeing i do not own one. when i roll the fade knob in the center console i do hear static in the speakers. aside from whats mentioned in the description the heated seats work. the power seat adjusters work, power mirror and all windows work. sunroof moves well and fully opens and closes. as mentioned this vehicle has barely been driven since 1999. i have the license plate last registered in 00'. the car starts instantly seems to shift perfectly. the car brakes just fine. The exhaust smells rich upon start up. the only thing that was done to the vehicle when acquired was drain gas tank and replace fuel pumps with Bosch OEM parts for good measure as to not ingest possible tank sediment from sitting. I would not drive the vehicle as normal without a tuneup, obliviously as it has essentially sat for two decades. I have not driven the car more than 5 miles. There are no idiot lights or service lights illuminated on the instrument cluster other than windshield fluid which is empty. please let me know if you have any other questions.
@tcstraker sorry for the late response. yes we could make that happen. link to extra photos/videos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/C365P1kXNkT5LuSg9
@CarScribe do you have questions on the vehicle? sorry I am new to this style auction and have replied to the person below with my contact information earlier and have not heard back. adding pictures and responses now. I acquired this vehicle from my uncles passing in 2019 without any documentation just a title. link to extra photos/videos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/C365P1kXNkT5LuSg9
Lack of interaction on the seller's part is going to kill this auction.
Love this color combo!

@hogan4836 Thanks for getting back to me but you've only addressed half of my questions. Does the odometer still turn? Are there any service records? Any "fogging" or discolouration on the rear window? Typically in the bottom corners. Can you open the trunk and take pictures inside the trunk looking upward where the rear glass is? There are several round holes in the steel trunk panel. Its a common but hidden area where these cars can rust. Can you post a cold start video and photo of the sagging headliner? Any insight on why the radio/speakers aren't working? Anything else not working? Heated seats, passenger seat belt extender, power seat motors, power mirror, windows, sunroof, etc.
@Mountainrd27 I do not know anything in regards to over spray that you're seeing. If it was from the factory I do not know. the paint itself look great.
@DakotaB there is no rust on the vehicle. No accidents. The vehicle was purchased (1999) and sat mostly since, only barely driven. No car fax history because there was nothing to report. I do not know why there is a mileage discrepancy. Again this vehicle has mainly been in storage since 1999 and reflects that.
I noticed quite a bit of overspray on the undercarriage...any info with regards to this?

Hello, sorry in advanvce for the bombardment of questions but I have a lot to ask after reading through the description. Can you provide any insight on the TMU aspect? The only mileage recording is from 1996 showing 175,966 miles and no CarFax history between 1997 and 2020. Does the odometer still turn? Can you recall what the mileage was when it was purchased in 1999? Any service records or accidents? Any "fogging" or discolouration on the rear window? Typically in the bottom corners. Can you open the trunk and take pictures inside the trunk looking upward where the rear glass is? There are several round holes in the steel trunk panel. Its a common but hidden area where these cars can rust. Can you post a cold start video and photo of the sagging headliner? Any insight on why the radio/speakers aren't working? Will sound come through if a cassette is played? Anything else not working? Heated seats, passenger seat belt extender, power seat motors, power mirror, windows, sunroof, etc. Thank you
