This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300GE Cabriolet was ordered new in Wuppertal, Germany and has been enjoyed by the seller for the past five years in Belgium with a clean Belgian title. Painted in Anthracite Gray Metallic (172) over black leather, power is provided by a 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder gasoline engine sending power to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Features include lockable differentials, climate control, a Blaupunkt head, bluetooth, power windows, spare wheel with carrier, removable hardtop, and removable black soft top. Now showing 252k kilometers (~156k miles), this G-wagen cabrio is offered for sale by the seller with a clean Belgian title and the seller is willing to assist buyers with shipping needs. For U.S. and Canadian buyers, the seller is willing to include shipping in the purchase price.
The exterior wears Anthracite Gray Metallic (172) paint with satin black bumpers and factory optioned enlarged fenders with an original stainless steel brush guard. The seller notes the paint to be original along with each body panel. Fog lights are recessed in the satin bumper below glass headlights with an optioned washer system. Clear front side markers sit atop the fenders and this G-Wagen includes a trailer hitch, mudflaps, black fabric soft top, removable hardtop, and aftermarket dual tip side exit exhaust.
The 15” five-spoke alloy wheels sport 255/75 Michelin 4X4 Aplin tires at the front and Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires on the rear. A 5th full size spare wheel is included in the spare carrier on the rear hatch. ABS brakes are equipped with a cabin toggle to switch them off when driving off terrain.
The cabin is upholstered in black leather draped on the door cards and manually adjustable seats with Burl Walnut trim running across the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Features includes a wood gear shifter for the 5-speed manual transmission, emergency brake handle, toggles for the locking differentials, climate control levers, headlight cleaning toggle, power passenger side mirror, Parrot Bluetooth device, and an aftermarket Blaupunkt head unit. A new driver side window regulator was installed in the summer of 2023. The rear tailgate folds down for access to the cargo area and rear forward-facing seats can be accessed with the front seats folded forward. A factory removable hardtop is included along with a folding soft top.
The four-spoke wooden Momo steering wheel frames the instrumentation pod complete with a 180-kph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, coolant temperature gauge, fuel level needle, analog clock, and oil pressure gauge. The exterior light assembly is just above the blinker stalk in close proximity to the left hand. The six-digit odometer reads 252k kilometers (~156k miles).
This Geländewagen is powered by a silky 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder M103 gasoline engine which is factory rated at 170 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The M103 engine sounds smooth in the provided running video. Engine bay photos provide mechanical insight on how this example has been maintained. Without maintenance records, the photos show newer radiator hoses with correct worm clamps, updated windshield washer fluid reservoir with cap, supple ignition wires, breather hoses, clean clutch fluid reservoir, non-yellowed vacuum lines, non-oxidized aluminum radiator, and corrosion free magnesium valve cover.
The undercarriage shows well on this 300GE. Metal surfaces demonstrate no rust or surface corrosion on any of the metal components. The rear differential appears to have no leaks or weeping of differential fluid. The rubber seals are also plump and healthy. This 1991 300GE Cabriolet is now offered for sale in Belgium with a clean Belgian title. The seller is willing to assist buyers with shipping/import needs and will personally deliver the truck to the shipper if needed. For U.S. and Canadian buyers, the seller is willing to include shipping in the purchase price.
This two-door cabriolet W463 is the German variation of a Land Rover Defender D90, but does everything better than its British counterpart because of its mix of style, timelessness, dependability, and reliable ancillaries. Manufactured in the Steyr-Daimler-Puch factory in Austria, this compact Geländewagen packs an off-road wallop with the locking differentials and short wheelbase. We’re confident this G would lick up a rocky overlanding trail like a greased weasel. The powerful and dependable 3.0-liter M103 engine not only gives this rig good power to pavement driving, but would add a livability factor to this otherwise primitive vehicle. These engines when wrung out in high RPMs are so smooth you can hardly tell you’re running them out close to redline other than the whisper quiet turbine-like woosh they make at highway speeds. This particular example has a tidy engine bay and clean underbody which is imperative for longevity. With the ultra rare hardtop that will be affixed to the car upon delivery to the new owner, the utterly handsome Anthracite Gray paint, and three pedals, this would make a killer datenight truck. Or if you’re like us, just daily the thing. Nothing’s built as tough as a Geländewagen for daily duties. So whether it’s hardtop on, soft top up, or topless, this G Cabrio won’t be getting any cheaper as time goes on. If you're in the U.S. or Canada, this is even more tempting as shipping will be included for the fortunate new owner!

@abel great, feel free to email me at [email protected] - I will be in Europe for most of the month of July, and would love to come see the car. Will you be in Belgium on 29, 30 June?
@benwcrawford yes i am.
@abel sorry, maybe I misunderstood, are you the seller?
@Abel Interesting. Would it be possible to connect directly? I am interested in the car. Where are you located?
@benwcrawford Hi, it was not sold as the reserve price hasn't been met. I still have it, though it's not advertised anywhere... i might relist it here soon.
I can’t quite tell…was the car sold? @Rocsteel did you take delivery? It the car still for sale?

Also: recommend sticking with the stock 15s or maybe 16" Atiks or the rarer 16" Ashtaroths. 18s and larger lead to a brutal ride experience.
Had a federalized version of this exact rig in Ruby Metallic. These are terrific, albeit underpowered compared to the subsequent G320. GLWYA.
@biturbius , hello, the VAT is non deductible.
$37,000 bid placed by @4wheelclctr
@Abel Hi, is it possible to get a VAT refund on the sales prices in case of an export outside of the EU (Switzerland)? This would greatly help to compensate for the costs arising for shipping, importing and technical examining. Thanks
The fiberglass hardtop (smooth finish in body color, inside finished in black felt), with heated rear window and wiper, will be put on the car for shipping purposes. The softtop will be removed and all components will be labeled, and a video with the steps will be made. If a buyer does not want the hardtop, i will refund an agreed amount.
FYI, toolkit and jack are under the passenger seat, tool for the front softtop locks and a tool to flip or remove the brushguard along with the manual are in the glovebox.
@MercedesDad Great point of view, thank you for the kind words.

I concur with @MikeOscarZebra; the prevalence of "AMG'd" or "overland" modifications on many early G's has made it increasingly uncommon to come across pristine, unaltered specimens such as this one.
@MikeOscarZebra thank you. It’s a survivor, knowing it’s 1 of 266 produced. As for the clutch, it has been replaced at the dealership along with the master and slave cylinder.
@seller this is really good looking- refreshing to see one that isn't mock-AMG. Any idea if the clutch is original?
