This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC shows first recorded registration in Washington state with subsequent registrations noted in Oregon, and California. The car is finished in Black (040) over Black Leather (261) and powered by a fuel-injected 5.5-liter V8 paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes fog lights, a power sunroof, cruise control, automatic climate control, and power-adjustable and heated front seats w/memory. Additionally this example benefits from the following modifications performed by Carobu Engineering; a rebuilt engine including new Internals, Headers, Exhaust, Springs, & Sway Bars. The engine rebuild occurred in 2024 along with a fluid service. Records will be included in the sale. The included Carfax notes the title shows TMU and the odometer reads 153k. This C126 is offered by the current owner with two keys, the original owner’s manual, tool roll, a Carfax report, and a clean New Mexico title.
The body is finished in Black (040) with grey lower cladding and bumpers. Exterior features include an electric metal sunroof with tilt function, fog lights, chrome trim, a power antenna, body-colored mirrors, and headlight washers. Light wear on the bumpers and rock chips along the front. The seller notes the body and paint to be original.
Chrome Gullideckel wheels are wrapped in Michelin tires measuring 225/60 on all four corners. The tires show 2006 date codes. In 2024 the suspension was rebuilt and factory springs were replaced with H&R lowering springs and paired with thicker sway bars.
The cabin features Black Leather (261) across the seats, door cards, armrest, and headrests. The matching dashboard and center console are accented with Burl Walnut veneer which shows some light cracking and fading. Amenities include heated and power-adjustable front seats, a dual-tone horn, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a power rollerblind. Detailed photos of the interior show the leather, dash, and wood. The seller notes the A/C to be inoperable and a small oil seep from the bottom of the engine.
The wood and leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a combination gauge for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and fuel economy. The six-digit odometer shows 153k miles from new and TMU noted on the title.
The 5.5-liter M117 V8 received a rebuild in 2024. Additionally the car received a custom, larger diameter exhaust, custom headers, and upgraded electronic fuel injection. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes a battery kill switch has been installed and shoulud be used when the car sits for 2 weeks or more due to a small parasitic battery drain.
The Carfax report lists linear mileage updates and no accidents or damage since new along with 50 service history records. This C126 recently passed California smog and is offered by the selling dealer with two keys, the original owner’s manual, tool roll, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Mexico title.

@allmack no, but I do know that happens a lot with New Mexico titles on older vehicles.
Any more detail on the TMU/Carfax mileage red flag?
@Weavermt yes all the above work with the exception of the radio. The radio may just need a factory code to work.
@seller do all the electrical options work, seats, windows, sunroof, and seat belt butler? Do all the dash switches, gauges, radio and mirrors operate as intended?
@zmayne thats what I was thinking...
@trashpanda911 not sure, but I don’t think it was built with California emissions in mind..
will this smog in ca?
Unless I’m missing something, this would be “well bought” at 2x the current bid
@zmayne any update on uploading the dyno sheet with HP and torque results you offered?

@6thinline9 Definitely no weird smells in the interior. The leather on the seating surfaces is very soft and in great condition. Everything appears to be in working condition and has not been altered from original. Regarding the gap between left and right rear tires, it does not appear to be different. Carobu fitted a set of their lowering springs, so I'm not sure why there would be a disparity in side to side ride height.

@zmayne any weird interior smells? Besides the a/c, does everything function properly? Is the rear passenger side gap (between the tire and fender) bigger than the driver side gap?

@Weavermt I can't seem to find the private message link on this site. Email me at [email protected].
@zmayne I have sent two messages for contact details. Are they getting through? Thanks.
@zmayne Thank you.
@StuttgartClassix Thanks, I'm trying. A lack of time has been the main problem.
If anyone would like the contact info for the two owners of Carobu send me a private message and I will get you the info. The are the best people to talk to answer more involved questions. I was also informed by one of the owners of Carobu that that the bottom end of the engine was not rebuilt, just the top end.
you need to make some more videos. they were good
@StuttgartClassix This is not the same car that is in the video, which I made several years ago.
@Weavermt I looked under the car and the oil is definitely coming from the oil pan, which thankfully on this engine is not too difficult to do. The area between the engine and transmission is dry, so it's not the rear main seal.
Throw some pentas on this and I bet it's a fantastic driver!

@seller Could youy upload pics of the workorders indicating what work was performed, in more detail, by Carobu? As other have stated the source of the oil leak? Thank you.

is this their test car from the video reviews here?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQXVBOzJbe4&pp=ygUbY2Fyb2J1IGVuZ2luZWVyaW5nIG1lcmNlZGVz Whats with the wrong size over sized tires that are 20 yrs old. Parasitic drain? From what? that should be sorted if its coming from a well respected shop What are the details of the rebuild.... Parts list etc?

@zmayne Photos 40 through 46... engine is up to temp but idling at 1200rpm indicating a high idle. Also please confirm if the cruise control is operational.
@Ecceblack There is no rust showing around the body. I will get some photos of the rockers and underside. I tried to this evening but it was too dark to get any good photos. Not sure what you are referring to with the high idle? The engine runs great and has a normal idle. I will be uploading a video of it running and driving before the end of the auction.

@eccblack. I will see if I can get an idea of where the oil leak is coming from. I don't believe it's from the rear main seal. I am assisting Carobu (owner of the vehicle) with the sale of the vehicle, and am not the owner. I photographed it and was asked to help sell it. I will be uploading a driving video as well as a walk around video before the auction is over. I will also be uploading a dyno sheet with HP and torque results that were taken from Carobu's engine dyno. Another thing that was pointed out to me by one of Carobu's owners is that the car's suspension was modified with lowering springs and Koni shocks at the front but the swaybars are stock and not upgraded.

Seller, ad states an oil leak. Is this at the main seal or elsewhere since motor rebuild has been done. Thanks

Such a cool car! Seller can you fill us in on if there’s any rust showing around the body? Near the trunk line? Undercarriage? Also any info on the high idle? Thank you.
