This 1994 Mercedes-Benz E420 was first sold in New York where it remained until 2021 when it was relocated to California. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Grey Leather (268), power comes from a 4.2-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, a sunroof, heated power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, burl wood trim, and a factory cassette stereo. Service performed in preparation for the sale by the seller includes a new crankshaft sensor, fuel pressure regulator, O2 sensor, vacuum hose kit, Bosch alternator, two ignition caps and coils, throttle actuator, and mass air flow sensor along with a cleaning of the valves and injectors. This W124 E420 shows 163k miles and is now offered with a recent smog inspection, partial service records, a clean Carfax report and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) with matching lower cladding and features chrome trim around the belt line and grille. Equipment includes a single windshield wiper as well as headlight wipers and washers. Additional features include a sunroof with tilt function and updated LED tail lights. The OEM tail lights will also come with the car. The seller notes a small area of rust on the front passenger fender and all paint is believed to be original. Detailed photos of the exterior are provided in the gallery.
Eight-hole 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with 195/65 Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires with 2012 date codes. Equipment includes four-wheel disc brakes and Acceleration Slip Regulation.
The seats are upholstered in Grey Leather (268), while burl wood veneer accents the center console, dashboard, and doors. Additional equipment includes cruise control, heated and power-adjustable front seats, driver’s position memory, automatic climate control, and a cassette stereo. Normal wear is noted on the center armrest and some sagging can be seen on the headliner.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer along with an analog clock, an external temperature readout, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 163k miles.
The 4.2-liter M119 V8 was factory rated at 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque when new. Recent service includes a new crankshaft sensor, fuel pressure regulator, O2 sensor, vacuum hose kit, Bosch alternator, two ignition caps and coils, throttle actuator, and mass air flow sensor along with a cleaning of the valves and injectors. Receipts will be provided for the work performed.
The Carfax report indicates no accidents or other damage and shows history in New York and California. This W124 E420 is now offered with a recent smog inspection, partial service records, a clean Carfax report and a clean California title
The W124 is a bonafide classic in enthusiast circles but the V8-powered E420 has been consistently underrated next to its Porsche-built big brother the 500E. These 8-cylinder sedans provide power, comfort and legendary reliability while sporting a sacco-designed suit that fits the bill. This particular example appears to be very well kept and benefits from a healthy list of recent services. The 1994 and 1995 model years are generally the most desirable to own. When compared to the far more expensive 5.0L versions, the value proposition is huge for the E420.

I wonder what the reserve was. I thought it would be sold at the last bid considering mileage. Oh well
for a sec there I thought the Beryl Bid (all 8's) was going to get it! LOL!

@Incaico Thank you! Im glad your enjoying the 500E, it went to a great home!
I have a '92 400E and I can tell you that these cars are happiest when they are moving way past the legal limits of our highways. I have personally seen this car as seller and I share the same master MBZ mechanic that keeps my W124s humming. The car's interior is in excellent shape, rear seat looks like no one ever sat on them. Picture does not do justice to this car. By the way, I purchased seller's beautifully maintained '92 500E and could not be happier. Been looking for a reason to buy this car to add to collection...oh yeah...I've been cut off...

@Static50 In the pictures there is a picture of the right fender, if you zoom into where the fender and bumper meet you will see a very small bubble, its almost not noticable.
@araikoh Can you comment or post picture of the rust that you referenced? I can’t see it!
@AMG5pt4 Obviously that is a guess, it looks like it been replaced because it looks new compared to the miles on the car and its not causing any problems.
"looks like it has been replaced" - is that a definitive yes or a guess?
$250 bid placed by @alykozmo
@araikoh great, thanks!
@gbouton Yes, that was actually one of the first things we looked at and it looks like it has been replaced. And im assuming it was replaced at a Mercedes Benz dealership becuase carfax is showing 30 service records which most is from a Mercedes Benz dealership.
Obligatory question about the status of the upper and lower biodegradable wiring harnesses....any indication if they have been replaced yet?
@gsxr I’ve owned the car for almost 2 years and put about 5k miles on it.
@araikoh, how long have you owned the car (years/miles)?
