This 2006 Mercedes-Benz E500 4Matic Wagon is finished in Obsidian Black Metallic (197) over a Anthracite MB-Tex (831) interior and powered by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission featuring SpeedShift. This S211 wagon was originally delivered to Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich, Connecticut where it existed with the original owner until 2016 when it moved out West to live in Washington state where it currently remains out of Seattle. Equipment on this example includes a factory Airmatic suspension, power-adjustable heated seats, four-zone automatic climate control, through-loading feature, left & right rear door sunblinds, an electric/tilt sunroof, CD changer, power cargo cover, retractable cargo net/dog barrier, power rear liftgate, and a rear-facing third-row bench seat. The seller acquired this wagon in 2019 and has added just around 14k miles during their ownership. Thorough service records have been kept for the last seven years including lots of Airmatic work and a rear main seal. The most recent service stated by the seller was engine mounts, oil change, a rear air strut, and valve cover gaskets. The E500 Wagon comes with cross bars and a rare Lorinser exhaust. The car shows just under 108k miles from new and is now offered with a clean Carfax report, service records, two keys, and a clean Washington title.
The exterior is finished in Obsidian Black Metallic (197) and features projector lens headlamps, fog lights, a glass sunroof, roof side rails, cross bars, and a rear wiper. Minor rock chips are documented on the front bumper and hood along with a scuff on the rear passenger wheel arch. The rear spoiler shows some signs of clear coat failure and the rear wiper bezel shows corrosion. A rare Lorinser exhaust and x-pipe are the lone modifications. The Carfax shows no accident history. New hatch struts were replaced in 2020.
The car shows original 17” five-spoke wheels measuring 17x8 at all four corners. Tires shown are Toyo Ultra 900 with 2018 date codes. One wheel shows two inches of curb rash. The car is equipped with an Adaptive Damping System and a self-leveling Airmatic suspension which can be raised or lowered 2+ inches from inside the cabin. Both rear shock absorbers were replaced in 2018 at 80k miles. In 2019 at 94k miles, new Arnott air struts were done on the front axles along with front driver CV joint, front passenger axle shaft, propeller shaft for the rear axle, flex disks, driveshaft support bearing, brake fluid flush, differential fluid flush, and transfer case flush. The seller states they replaced one rear air strut under their ownership. Front brake pads and rotors were replaced in 2021 at 97k miles.
The interior is trimmed in Anthracite MB-Tex (831) with burl wood accents on the dashboard, center console, and doors. Interior amenities include power-adjustable heated seats with memory, through-loading feature, left & right rear door sunblinds, CD changer, heated screen washer system, bluetooth handsfree module in the center console, heated rear glass, automatic/power-operated cargo cover, retractable cargo net/dog barrier, power rear liftgate, a rear-facing third-row bench seat and four-zone automatic climate control. Four original Mercedes-Benz black floor mats are present. The front driver inner door handle has delaminating chrome and the surround for the headlight switch has gone sticky. The cargo area includes the through-loading feature and can be accessed via a power tailgate and contains an automatic/power-operated cargo cover, retractable cargo net/pet barrier, and hideaway rear-facing third row seats with cup holder and headrests. The seller notes the navigation function is inoperable.
The multi-function black leather wrapped steering wheel fronts factory instrumentation including an analog clock, a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and digital gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The dashboard houses the climate controls, an infotainment screen, a CD changer, a pop-out storage cubby, and a lockable glove box. The digital odometer shows approximately 108k miles since new.
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 is paired to a 722.6 five-speed automatic transmission with SpeedShift as well as 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Power was rated at 302 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque when new. Thorough service records have been kept for the last seven years. The most recent service is an oil change at 105k miles. An exhaust invoice is shown in the gallery. The seller states they performed an engine mount service during their ownership. In 2020 at 96k miles a transmission service was performed in tandem with a new rear main seal. Both batteries have been recently replaced.
The included clean Carfax report shows linear mileage updates since new and is offered for sale by the current owner. The car includes service records, two keys, cross bars, and a clean Washington title.
The seller has included the following videos:
To make the wagon variant of the W211 pass the crash tests and for added chassis strength, Mercedes-Benz essentially welded a steel I-beam into the trunk of these cars which added a lot of extra weight to the rear end. This in effect made the wagons drive so much better than the sedan versions and they truly have the road holding and weighty feel of a S124 wagon. Mercedes-Benz was back in business with the S211. Paired with the 722.6 transmission and the invincible 5.0-liter M113, these were powerful and had the torque to make them drive almost like S-Class estates, especially with the Airmatic suspension which added smoothness and essentially deleted road noise. If you’re looking to get into a long roof Mercedes-Benz that oozes quality and good engineering, the S211 is your car. This example touts Obsidian Black Metallic paint over Anthracite MB-Tex. Black/black station wagons from Mercedes-Benz tend to fetch premiums and hold value long term. This car sports COMAND and heated seats too making this a perfect daily driver that would be mind- blowing on a road trip during any season.

@PJonaPJ It’s been in the garage since Covid. I’ve never taken it to the mountains or snow, but I believe the previous owner did.
How do you store it? How much snow does it see?
@GGG005 Hello - These were added to the gallery, but I don’t have a lift so those are the best I could do. Let me know if you need a specific picture taken.
Hello. Can I have a undercarriage picture?
@Wfr817 I commuted in one, mixed city and highway in Birmingham Alabama. The best I got out of it was 16 MPG. The moment you get on the hammer though you would see 13 avg.

I’m curious what gas milage numbers these e500’s get in the real world. I know what the EPA says but would love to hear from drivers… Beautiful car!
@Seth211 Thank you! I believe the buyer takes care of the shipping via their preferred method. I am not sure as this is my first auction. Perhaps someone else could chime in?
Beautiful car! How does shipping work? I'm very interested in bidding but I live in NC so... it's a bit far away to pick up!
@Dragon_Lady No issues that I recall. Is there a specific area of concern?
Any problems w/the 4matic since you’ve had the wagon? Thanks.

@scorpuzj appreciate the response. What a wagon!
@fschura Yes, but I’m not sure if it was done when the Lorinser was initially installed or when I came back to get it buttoned-up. I recall returning a couple times because there was some rubbing at idle. There’s still a little rub at times.
Pic 157 (underneath the vehicle) shows what looks like a piece of rebar connecting the 2 exhaust pipes. Was this done at the same time as when the exhaust tips were installed? I’m presuming that was done to brace/stabilize the 2 exhausts? Do you remember this work being done?

@speeder_prince Yes, you’re correct. My mechanic did the best he could to install it. I didn’t mind it much.

@scorpuzj looking at picture 10, the driver side exhaust tip looks to favor much more to the left and not straight like the passenger side. Maybe it's the angle at which the picture was taken but can you confirm? Thanks!
@kitzbuhel I didn’t have to get one in WA. I can’t say for other states though.
Will it pass a smog?
These are great cars. Surprising power, big torque ready to pull when you want it, all planted while offering tons of room. Great greenhouse, too (tho this has tint).

Photos of the underside have been added to the gallery.
Thanks.
@p2p2p2 Hello - I took pics, but waiting on how to upload. I don’t have access to a lift or jack so the pics aren’t the greatest. Happy to take specific pics if needed.
@fschura Hello - I purchased the car towards the end of 2019. The previous owner stated he didn't drive it often, but I have no other info other than that.
The carfax shows that the mileage went down about 5000 miles between 2014 and 2016. can you shed any light on this mileage inconsistency?
Being a NE car please include some under carriage photos. Thank you.
