This 1982 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Turbodiesel was originally sold in Missouri in 1982 and by 1986 showed 41k miles on the odometer. The next reported odometer reading was registered in 2002 at 318k and by the time the selling dealer acquired the car in 2022 the odometer reads 427k original miles. Finished in Champagne Metallic (473) over a Palomino MB-Tex (134) interior, power comes from a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-five paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a painted mechanical sliding sunroof, automatic climate control, an original head unit, power windows, locks, and power antenna, and functioning SLS. In 2001 the engine and transmission were replaced and recent maintenance includes a Dieselmeken injection pump, new accumulators in 2022, new brakes including hoses, and a fresh oil change. This S123 shows 427k miles and is offered with factory literature, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean North Carolina title.
The car is finished in Champagne Metallic (473) and features chrome-accented domestic-spec bumpers and trim, glass headlamps, a painted mechanical sliding sunroof, and an electrically adjustable radio antenna. The trim, bumpers, and door handles are reportedly original to the car along with brightwork shown in the photos. The wagon received a repaint under previous ownership and shows good clear coat. Multiple rust spots can be seen bubbling through under the rear passenger and front driver’s doors. Detailed photos of the exterior are viewable in the gallery.
Factory Bundt 14″ alloy wheels powder coated in gold are equipped and wear Michelin Defender tires measuring 195/70 on all four corners with 2017 date codes. Braking is handled by rotors on all four corners.
The cabin features seats upholstered in Palomino MB-Tex (134) with matching beige door panels, carpets, head liner, and lower dashboard. Calico Cocomats have been installed for the front and rear footwells and the front seats display wool seat covers in Beige. The steering wheel and upper dashboard are trimmed in Black along with the shift knob and center console trim. Zebrano wood trim accents the dashboard and center console with fading shown and cracks visible along multiple panels. Equipment includes automatic climate control with R134 converted air conditioning, power windows, an original Becker head unit, and an aftermarket boost gauge mounted under the dashboard. The seller notes the AC will need recharged. The interior shows regular wear including discoloration and stains in carpets, cracks in the armrest, and cracks in the dashboard. The seats are reportedly in good condition with no cracks.
Instrumentation includes a 125-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock. Additional auxiliary gauges include coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level which all function properly. The six-digit odometer shows just under 427k miles.
The 3.0-liter OM617 turbo-diesel inline-five features a single Garrett turbocharger and Bosch fuel injection from the factory. Power was factory rated at 123 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque and is sent to the rear wheels via a 722.3 four-speed automatic transmission. In 2001 the engine and transmission were replaced and recent maintenance includes a Dieselmeken injection pump, new accumulators in 2022, new brakes including hoses, and a fresh oil change. The previous owner stated current horsepower is now estimated to be over 200hp. Documentation showing regular maintenance will be included in the sale along with the original injection pump. Additional underbody photos can be seen in the gallery below.

@Razi thank you! I'd be happy to add some photos of the seats, tomorrow. This car was not equipped with the 3rd row seat but instead, has the extra storage compartment.
The wagon looks great! Do you mind adding pictures of the driver and passenger seat without the covers on them? It would be nice to see the condition of them. Also, does this s123 have the trunk rear facing seats?

@avemaria I have uploaded a few photos of the battery tray that should be showing in the post some time today. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to see. Thanks -Stone
@Penny Hey thank you for the compliments! So there should be documentation photos uploading today to show the work that has been performed. Along with the Engine and Transmission being replaced, the rear differential, CV axels, and all rubber was also replaced. As far as the AC goes, I have not done any diagnosis nor has the owner. During my drive back, it seemed to work a little but I think it needs a recharge. That is all the information I know at this time. Hope this helps. Thanks and feel free to comment or message me with any further questions! - Stone
Beautiful wagon and great videos... is there documentation on the engine/transmission replacement? And anything you can add about the AC? (ie, is it blowing? any compressor, or other checks or service done?) Thank you!
@avemaria I'd be happy to take a photo tomorrow! Any other specific photos you'd like to see?
Nice looking wagon! Rust look minimal and the car has been taken care of. If you have a chance show us a pic of under the battery
I just wanted to say hello to all of the bidders and give a little extra personal insight on this car. I am friends with the owner and have looked over/driven this car quite a bit. He and his father spent around a decade maintaining, restoring, and loving this car just as much as the owners before them. It has lived in a beautiful climate controlled garage during his entire ownership and whenever it needed something, no expense was spared. I drove it from Raleigh, North Carolina up to its current Richmond location and the car didn't miss a beat. It is extremely capable in traffic, a head turner, and still lives up to that 0M617 infamous fuel economy (when I manage to keep my foot out of it, of course). I hope y'all enjoy the pictures and videos and I look forward to meeting the winner of this super cool and clean wagon! - Stone
@iamthejd77 Thank you very much! Trust me, it was just as fun to make this video as it is to watch it. The was a "drag race" between my personal 1982 300TD and this the Dieselmeken wagon. I still can't believe the power difference between the two cars. That is a lot of the reason that we had to make this video from a bird's eye point of view.
Absolutely my new FAVORITE video on Youtube. may have already watched several times today.
