This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300E shows New Jersey registration from new under three owners with 71k miles on the odometer. Finished in Teal Blue Metallic (888) over Beige Leather (265), power is provided by a 3.0-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a power sliding sunroof, headlamp wiper/washers, power adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control and a Becker Mexico radio. Extensive service history from 2013 is included with an AC conversion recently undertaken by the seller. This 300E is now offered for sale by the current owner with the original manufacturer’s literature, a spare tire and tool kit, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Teal Blue Metallic (888) with contrasting lower body cladding separated by chrome trim. Exterior features include a power sliding sunroof, headlamp wiper washers, heated door mirrors with a power-adjustable passenger side, an automatic antenna, heat insulating glass and a heated rear window. A damage report can be seen on the Carfax in 2016 at the rear passenger-side of the car with damage noted as minor. Cracked paint and minor blemishes can be seen on the front bumper with no signs of damage or corrosion present on the body.
The factory 15” Gullideckel wheels wear Bridgestone Ecopia tires measuring 195/65 on all four corners with date codes from 2010. The wheels show no signs of damage or corrosion. A full-size spare tire is mounted below the trunk floor along with the factory jack and original tool kit.
The cabin is trimmed in Beige Leather (265) with matching beige headliner, all-weather floor mats and Zebrano wood trim which lines the center console, dashboard and door panels. Minor cracks and a chip are present in the wood trim on the center console. Both front seats are power adjustable with two-position memory for the driver side. Additional interior appointments include an electrically-adjustable steering column, automatic climate control, cruise control, a Becker Mexico radio, a trunk-mounted 10-disc CD changer and a 10-speaker 100 watt high-performance audio system. The seller notes that the AC system recently received a refrigerant conversion.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames analog instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. A digital outside temperature sensor is mounted centrally at the bottom of the cluster. The six-digit odometer currently shows just 71k miles from new.
This W124 sedan is powered by a 3.0-liter M103 inline-six which is rated for 177 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Service records dating back to 2013 are included with the car.
The Carfax report shows New Jersey registration from new along with linear mileage updates. The aforementioned minor damage report is shown in 2016 with no other damage reports or accidents appearing on the Carfax. This 1991 300E is now offered with the original manufacturer’s literature, the factory tool kit and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
The W124 Mercedes is undeniably one of the most reliable and well-built Sacco-era cars to roll off the assembly line. The sharp lines and analog feel made this an enthusiast favorite since day one and moreover, these cars were built strong enough to withstand decades of abuse and stand the test of time to outlast any new car rolling off assembly lines today. This pre-facelift W124 comes with the early style front end and grille which is more reminiscent of the W126 design language and features the iconic Sacco-era lower body cladding. This example comes finished in a unique and desirable Teal Blue Metallic paint finish and shows just 71k original miles.
