The cabin is trimmed in original Parchment Leather (205) and matching carpet is noted throughout. Burl wood veneer accents the dashboard, center console, and door cards. Notable interior features include electrically adjustable front seats with three position memory settings, an original Becker head unit, and automatic climate control. Original floor mats are included in the trunk with aftermarket matching carpet mats on all four corners of the car. The seller replaced the A/C compressor, dryer, and recharged the system. A new blower motor regulator was also installed. A new headliner was taken care of in preparation for the sale along with a new power window and power mirror switch assembly. The burl walnut shows in great condition with little UV damage or discoloration.
The 3.2L M104 in-line six was factory rated for 217 horsepower and 232lb-ft of torque when new. It’s paired to a 722.3 four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. 1996 was the only year to offer the M104 engine in the W210 which won Motor Trend’s Import Car of the Year award. These cars did not have biodegradable wiring harness issues. The seller completed a thorough mechanical refresh in preparation for the sale including:
The car was serviced by RBM of Atlanta by the original owner up until 2023. The dealer had replaced the steering rack, brake light switch, water pump, cylinder head and head gasket, spark plugs, window regulators, and regularly serviced the vehicle. The seller shows no current head gasket leaks or issues in the underside video. Most of the dealer service is documented in the VMI report included in the gallery.
The included Carfax report shows two owners from new, no accident history, and 23 service records which were mainly at Atlanta’s historic Mercedes-Benz dealership. This 1996 E320 is offered on behalf of the seller with one key plus a disassembled second key, original window sticker, recent service records, factory literature, spare wheel, first aid kit, a VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) report, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
An underside inspection, walkaround, and driving video is included by the seller:

@Stuttgart_Steel (489) Thanks for quick response. With na hour and a half left, just wanted to point out some key points on this car: - Brand new Michelin Defender 2 tires - Engine and transmission mounts - Brake service - Two owners from new - Special order Royal Indigo paint - Original window sticker - New headliner - Books and manuals - Very original car and a first year W210 which is uncommon We dialed this one in as if it was our own car and the work was open checkbook. I should mention we also popped in a new Genuine Mercedes-Benz oil level sender with a new o-ring since we noticed it was a little wet. We had the car up in the air yesterday to do a wellness check and a once over since a few bidders have reached out about road tripping the car back home and it's ready to go. We're super happy with this car and I can't wait to talk to the new owner later this afternoon. This is a NO RESERVE auction and is selling today! Good luck!@floman Head gasket has been inspected and it's bone dry! It was the first thing I looked for when I looked the car over in the owner's garage and then got it up on the lift. I've done a few and it is not a scary job at all. Any independent Mercedes shop can do it with their eyes closed.@Stuttgart_Steel You mention that head gasket leaks are a common problem on these engines. Can you give me a rough idea of how big a job it is to perform a replacement? Has the head gasket on this car been replaced recently? Thank you.@DJBmbusa - Hood pad is in great shape. You can inspect in in picture #297 - A/C blows cold. Per the copy and records we just performed a huge overhaul on the system including the expensive blower motor regulator too along with a new compressor. Defoggers work - That amount of head gaskets is not that uncommon on these engines. M104 and M103s (even the M102) really like to leak externally. - Per photo #211 the sunroof vent is photographed as open. I think our headliner guy cracked the vents and he covered them up. I didn't notice until I was shooting the video and you can hear my confusion. You can still find vents on eBay for cheap luckily if you wanted to convert it. - I have the books and manuals! Uploading a picture now to add to the gallery.Beautiful car! - what’s the hood pad condition? - a/c blows cold? Front and rear defogger working? - the records indicate (3) head gaskets to-date, is this normal? - does the sunroof work in the vent position? The air vents appear to have been closed/sealed with the headliner repair - do you have all books and manuals? Thank you. GLWA!$6,500 bid placed by @samwell_1

@Stan_Lution It does have a OBD port!@Stuttgart_Steel thanks; I thought early w210s were also susceptible. Lovely colorway.@Stuttgart_Steel does this have a OBD2 port for diagnostics? Thanks, I appreciate the additional info. She looks like a winner, good luck with the auction. The seller enthusiasm is appreciated. Great presentation.@skarthur The answer is kinda both. It was replaced by the dealer in 2001 at 60k miles (right when originals pop). Newer gaskets have revised strengthening at the rear left near the oil passage that usually fails and creates an external leak. It even looks like the dealer replaced the cylinder head in conjunction with the gasket. I’ve also posted pictures and did a video inspection for the rear left corner of the motor where the oil leaks from the head.Such a fun color combo. Question regarding the "updated head gasket". Does that just mean the head gasket was replaced, or is this somehow a better head gasket than the known to fail original? Thanks!@Jsachs71 Biodegradable harnesses were remedied by the W210. LH ignition cars were the ones with the issues (1993-1995).Do you know if the wiring harness has been replaced?$3,000 bid placed by @samwell_1

This paint color is otherworldly and so cool!@Boatymcboatface Nice spec on your S210! Very pretty car. These have definitely bottomed out on the depreciation curve and we're starting to see special examples trade for decent money. I've been chanting how good these are for years at this point and it's only time before people realize how darn good they are to own, service, and drive. The three I currently own are a 300k mile '99 E300, 240k '02 E55, and a 92k '99 E320 wagon I'm getting ready for The MB Market. I know @blakleyleonard are W210 zealots in the sphere. Just majestic cars. @edand You can always truck out there ;)Fantastic colour combo, and presented very well. On the wrong side of the continent for me, but I hope it goes to a great home!Absolutely beautiful example. We have a wagon in Aspen Green over Palomino with very low miles and it is exceptional. I've heard these called the German Camry, but they run circles around Camrys. I think they are very undervalued and the time is now to buy the good ones like this.@ostigac Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words! This is a really cool car. No idea what it will bring but we will see. It's such an elegant and pretty spec.$250 bid placed by @mmday55
@Stuttgart_Steel your listings are always the most fun to follow! Love the level of detail and passion for each machine. Curious where this one will land!Okay so I like weird colors on Mercedes. If you follow me on Instagram you'll see I've owned and own some weird ones. I am also a huge W210 fan (I currently own three). So being reached out to help sell this Royal Indigo first year E320 with a M104 in it, I was beyond excited. I've actually never interacted with a first year W210, so I was curious. Let me tell you I love the way these drive. If you've ever interacted with 1996-1997 W210s they feel different from later model cars. There is a lot of W124 DNA in them, especially since this engine is carried over. I am obsessed with the color though. It was a hard photoset to get the paint to pop as you see it with your eyes, but I think I accurately portrayed it on the gallery. It's so pretty and so so rare. The interior is also really nice and I love all of the early W210 touches inside. They feel fantastic compared to the mid-cycle cars. This was an open checkbook "make it nice for the next owner" kind of deal, so we went through it as if it was our own car and dialed this E320 in. I'm really proud and happy with the end product on such a rare W210. Let me know if you need anything on my end. I'm open for appointments and showings and phone calls or Facetime if needed. I want this to be as transparent as possible. Happy bidding!
