Very nice. I have a 1999 CL600 and a S and SL600. The coupe is such a joy to drive and perfectly balanced. Really wonderful vehicles. I just can’t say enough about how enjoyable they are especially the C140. Question for Seller- What’s it like driving around Germany in one of these? Do “young” people like them or is it frowned upon because of some environmental nonsense or them being luxury object ?
Very surprised.
@Whester Thanks please post pictures of any service records, the other rims, as well as keys. Do you have the original head unit? Underside pictures would also help.
@seller Nice work overall. I have been looking for one of these. Are the rims in pic 40 available? Are the original rear axle hydrulic components included? Any documented service history?
This looks like an excellent example and very well presented.
These are really cool my neighbor has same colors/year. I though this one sold on that site owned by the two-t-shirt guy. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3zMOgE5A/2013-mercedes-benz-ml63-amg
Nice final bid off to Ebay?
These M156 V8's make awesome noises. Very useable and enjoyable emerging classic right here.
@Bankrep40 you would look great in this one!
Peak S65 here that any connoisseur of German V12 bliss needs to experience at least a few times. So many S65's are used hard and a bit unloved, but this one appears to be top of the market. That warrantee is almost as rare as the car itself and worth every penny! Pay well up front for any 65, keep it flawless and the long-term reward is there for these collectable V12's. It's a shame these represent the final era of what Mercedes did best. Buy the good ones while you can.
SL600/pano owner here. These offer such a versatile semi-exotic experience. This one appears to be very nice overall with great options. With such a rare interior, correct rims, top and keys I wouldn't be afraid to have any mechanical items fully sorted. Long-term this one is a real gem.
This is such a rare opportunity to own one of the last "The Best or Nothing" Mercedes-Benz automobiles in Bruno Saccos favorite color. These big V12 coupes need to be experienced by any true Mercedes collector at one point in their lifetime and this one is very collectable and useable. The history of care, keys, solid VMI and long-term one-owner/use history are a major value. Also, the lack of broken/worn items are absent on this example and let me say as a three-M120 owner those little items are harder and harder to fix, so pay well up-front for a complete package. I'd bid, but already have a 1999 CL600, S600 and SL600 so all stocked up!
Well bought overall. Title status probably scared some. These are really impressive and the last of the best when Mercedes truly lived up to "The Best or Nothing" motto.
I've been enjoying a 2004 57 similar to this and own a 1997 S600 and the similarities are there, but the W240 amplified the greatness of the W140 600 into one of the most powerful and silent motorcars I've ever driven stunning stopping power. Fit-finish is better than a Phantom and these are still very serviceable overall. Parts are RR/B Ferrari cost and they need a master mechanic to look after them yet a brilliant and stealth luxury machine. This color is really stunning and while we are lacking actual documentation of many items I have had serviced this is still an excellent driver example that appears very useable and very enjoyable while a few items are tended too. Hope the new owner can find the Maybach umbrella and other items it was delivered with!
Seller very nice example - do you have a full service file or VMI? Have the breaks/rotors/pads and motor or transmission mounts been serviced? Are paint meter readings available?
Looks like a project, but would be worth it. Still a strong final bid for what it looks like.
These are very nice and super-rare. They really look good on the C140.
Seller did a great job representing a wonderful example that did well. Most new Mercedes are so odd and I foresee little collectability as their tech lacks redundancy and i'm sure MB will not support any new cars after 6 years. This 1990's era was the best and the V12 Coupe represents peak Bruno/M120 greatness.
That final bid is about market-correct. I've paid between that and 3K for refinished and closer to $1,000 for rims that need refinishing, but these are hard to find.
Why is one lug nut missing from each wheel?
Very nice who did the restoration?
Thank you seller. Thanks for the reminder about the Sultan of Brunei. He was the main customer of many firms such as AMG and other coachbuilders throughout the 1990's providing them with a massive amount income for what would have been a researcher and development budget for a larger company pursing his automotive dreams. I'm sure there are several old engineers that know of some wild stories, but are still contractually unable to speak of the wild creations sent to the Sultan as much was done in secrecy for he by many firms - especially Rolls-Royce/Bentley and their coachbuilders. I believe Brunei is were the largest treasure trove of M120 modified cars reside, yet in possibly poor condition if cared for correctly. Hope to see a massive auction their someday!
This is a really fascinating and rare C140 with great comments by the seller. Very well-presented and good to have a real history. I'd really like to know more about the AMG ECU tune. I have a SL600, S600 and CL 600 (97,97,99) and they could use some more power and better breaks. I believe many M120 AMG products went to the middle-east and more will be emerging. Too-bad AMG never kept good records what were they thinking? Hope this goes to a good home.
Would a throttle-body upgrade be needed for these to really work as they were designed? My 2009 E63 Wagon needs some more go-go.
Nice to see a real 99' for sale. A worthy project to enjoy and restore as needed. I own a 1999 CL600 and just finished a some light body work and full paint-job as well as some other light repairs. Monoblocs with Michelins next week. These are really special cars and worth saving.
It sure is tempting. Great colors and history. It would be an upgrade from my 2009 E63 Wagon (S211), but a much more complicated beast.
So cool in blue and very rare, but a detail sure would help. Super-rare rims and roof gear. If someone buys it and does not want the carrier, ect i'll buy it. So hard to find anyways. My E63 S211 has some bad panel gaps and no accidents.
Tremendous value! The ADS is so impressive I wish more V8's were optioned with it. This is the only one I've ever seen. This was a no-sale on BAT awhile back at 21k. Very good deal.
Awesome spec. Too bad unknown damage and in UAE. Door latch painted on drivers rear as well come on now..
Well bought and love the colors. Real AMG Monobloc Aero II's silver with polished-lip would look better.
Thats a lot of Bruno Sacco greatness for under 10k.
166 came to USA total. I have a color interior/exterior breakdown. 11 white ones listing "650 Arctic White" as only white, but looks the same as this and perhaps just a different name for different market as MB has done many times -confusing everyone. Out of the 11 white wagons 4 with black and 7 with brown/tan interior 07-09'. I have a 09" in white with tan/brown interior. Fun car and so useful. Little kids love the third-row.
Very impressive these M156 long-roofs are. I have an Alpine White 09' with tan interior. Great cars and hope there is a way to bring in to USA. It's a shame their are so many nonsensical importation hurdles for so many cars. It should be easy for anything over 10 yrs old, but our legislator have better things to like starting wars and deficit spending.
This really is a pretty car. A color that looks better in person and with all of the new jelly-bean cars these are really standing out and looking better every day.
@TheAMGkit this is the perfect project for Patina.
I just put my Panoramic top on my SL600 for the first time in a few years and its so much fun in the winter here in SC. I lube the seals first and the bows for the tops before it drops and no wind noise. If you have a later R129 and live in a place you can use in the winter its awesome, but once its 70 degrees outside really heats up the cabin. I've been tempted to put a UV refracting film on the inside, but not sure if that would harm anything.
Chop, Chop, Chop, Chop on them blades when we ride.... Perfect for a W/C140 if you can handle the attention.
Rare and impressive offering from Germany! More history would be amazing, but most pre-merger MB/AMG don't have much. The extra wood inside is such a special touch as well as factory Navigation and two-piece rims. I wonder what AMG did to the M120? These are going to be so collectable sooner than later and as the economy of Germany/EU overall changes I'd imagine we see more of them come out of hiding.
This is a 2010 price. Wow.
I've been looking for some for my CL600, but the black is a no-go with Smoke Silver.
It's about time one of these is painted in something other than black. Very pretty.
Gosh when are you going to have some nice cars on here... wow
One of the most collectable, useable and gorgeous Mercedes of the modern era. I enjoy my Alpine White 09' Wagon daily as do our little kids in the 3rd row!
Really a great spec and a rare desirable exterior color. Those rims are a perfect touch and the 4.2 is adequate. Hope to see more of these coming over.
Very rare indeed. Four-place seating and red is just amazing. The market rewards originality, so anything attached that was not when it was delivered new is best removed.
Very well-sold. I purchased one 10 years ago for $1000 they were giving them away.
These seem to be a perfect car for most applications. Almost too practical!
Impressive auto and great to see all that work done. Why the intake and valve covers were not powder coated while they were pains me on such a beautiful example. Should do well.
Big number, but a great car. Glad it did well here. This site is really doing a great job.
This is such a perfect specimen of a E55 and the seller is perhaps the most particular and committed Mercedes-Benz enthusiast i’ve ever met. He only buys the best and just makes them better under his meticulous ownership.
Probably. Call him up.
Send it to Karl with a blank check.
Very nice. I own of the 2009 Wagons/estate. Its a blast and the M156 is a perfect match for this chassis. White/tan third-row seat.
One of the nicest Anniversary Editions I've ever seen.
Great auction @600SEC_AMG. A market moment for a early C140 V12. Also, a great day for MB Market.
Such a pristine example. I have read through this auction, and I am so thoroughly impressed with the amount of effort put in this vehicle - whoever purchases it will obtain perhaps one of the best examples in existence. At this point most W/C140 V12’s need a lot of what the seller has done here except for perhaps paint work. Beware of the garage queens with no maintenance history! This 600SEC is better than new after all of this documenter work done resolving all know issues with early C140 M120’s. Even most later examples have sat for a long time and may look good, but many gremlins lurking beneath due to lack of use and preventative maintenance. I've looked at a few and they need all of what was done here, but the owners think they are worth current bid. Nope. This 600SEC is a big deal and at current bid. I already own a 97 S600 and SL600 and have been tempted to acquire this but really do not need any more vehicles in my life! When these are properly sorted they are incredible highway touring machines. I’m sure the seller will provide ongoing technical support for anything that may arise and that service after the sale is a major buying point. Better than new.
What a beautiful example of an appreciating classic. I own a 2009 in white/tan. Great vehicles that one can use during all seasons in life and if maintained enjoyable for many years. Head bolt failures do occur, yet happen slowly giving owners plenty of notice and the whole head gasket/updated bolt job is relatively reasonable for an exotic car and straightforward. Also, once addressed may never be an issue again. Should not prevent any prospects from bidding. Theses are tremendous values and this one in exceptional condition.
The listing, pics and vehicle are just stunning. What a perfect example of a high-speed touring coupe. These are a big "BUY" while you can get still the good ones.
Would be a wonderful daily driver. Apparently one of only 886 US market 1999 320LWB. Great color same as my S600. I’m not too excited about these rims but if anybody’s interested I have the correct rims with good Michelin tires. I got the ultimate score of some grand edition AMG Monoblocs for mine last year.
So the car was repainted Mars red - any documentation of where?

The listing, pics and vehicle are just stunning. What a perfect example of a high-speed touring coupe. These are a big "BUY" while you can get still the good ones.

Would be a wonderful daily driver. Apparently one of only 886 US market 1999 320LWB. Great color same as my S600. I’m not too excited about these rims but if anybody’s interested I have the correct rims with good Michelin tires. I got the ultimate score of some grand edition AMG Monoblocs for mine last year.
