Hello to you all and welcome to an auction for a extremely rare 1997 E60 AMG. This rare and unique vehicle offers a chance to own a piece of pre-merger Mercedes/AMG history. In 1998, AMG became a majority-owned division of Mercedes-Benz. However, prior to that, in 1996, AMG produced the E50, a model similar to the well-known 1999-2002 E55 AMG. The E50 featured an AMG 5.0L M119 engine and was built at AMG's shop in Germany, with only 2,780 units produced between 1996 and 1997, none of which were available in North America. As a special option, buyers could choose an E60 package that included a 6.0L version of the M119 engine, paired with a 5-speed transmission. With a conservative rating of 381 horsepower (reportedly closer to 420) and nearly 450 lb-ft of torque, the E60 could accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. The E60 was available only through special order at dealerships or from authorized AMG tuning shops. This particular vehicle, E60 AMG number #39, was hand-built in Affalterbach, Germany, and ordered by Braunschweig Mercedes-Benz. Fewer than 200 units were produced over two years world wide and they were never offered to the North American market. Ownership History: Imported from Japan to Canada in 2012. Current owner since September 2015. When purchased, the car had 138,823 km. It now has 149, xxx km (approx. 92,500 miles), meaning only about 10500 km were added during 11 years of ownership. I did appraisal of the vehicle in 2015 when I purchased it and it was appraised at $60000. Used exclusively as a summer vehicle, never driven in snow or rain and for four years was parked in heated garage not registered. Previous owner spent over $5,000 on maintenance, including replacing ignition coils, refinishing rims, and installing new tires. Receipts are available. Recent Maintenance and Upgrades: Paint lost its shine and on the couple of spots a clear coat was pilling. Custom paint job completed in June 2024; car had no rust prior to painting. New tires installed in September 2024 with wheel alignment. New battery installed in October 2024, along with new LED headlight bulbs. Rebuilt ABS pump in July 2024 no further ABS and ESP error codes. New relay for the fuel pump installed in July 2024 along with an oil and filter change. AC full recharge July 2026. Before that only oil and filters where changed regularly, didn't require any maintenance. Front brakes at 40% and rear brakes at 80%. Specifications: Euro spec, hand-built in Affalterbach, Germany. Flared rear and front fenders. White-face AMG 0-300 km/h speedometer. 2-piece AMG wheels by BBS 18x8.5 fronts, 18x10 rears Factory MB daytime running lights module. Mileage: 149, xxx km. Registered and insured in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with no liens. Features (from Data Card): VIN: WDB2100721A340779 (1997 Mercedes-Benz E60 AMG). Special Order Vehicle. Parktronic System (PTS), electric tilt/slide sunroof, rain sensor, electronic stability program (ESP). Memory package for driver seat, steering column, and mirrors. Xenon headlights, headlamp cleaning equipment, and electric rear sunshade. Sports chassis with AMG styling package (front spoiler, side skirts). Leather interior in black (Condor) with seat heaters for both front and rear. Finished in Polar White (paint code 149). This vehicle represents an iconic piece of automotive engineering from a time when AMG was still an independent tuner, producing exclusive and high-performance cars. It has been meticulously maintained, with a recent custom paint job, regular service, and several upgrades, making it an exceptional example of a rare classic. There is small crack on the windshield and couple of cracks on the dash. Thank you for your interest and good luck bidding!
