This 1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK230 Kompressor Cabriolet 5-Speed Manual shows an original 960 kilometers (556 miles) from new and presents as a collector-grade example. This specific car was ordered via the Schwäbisch Gmünd Mercedes-Benz retail branch and was delivered to the first owner in October of 1998. The owner initially parked the car in the garage of a family home where it sat forgotten until the home was to be sold. The owner, upon realizing the home would be sold, discovered the car had been sold without his consent to a dealer who then sold the CLK to Daimler AG. As the car was with Daimler, it received a complete service and new tires to ensure it was healthy. It was recovered by the original owner with the help of the original owner’s attorney with letters from that attorney included in the sale to corroborate the background. In 2018 the car made its way through a museum collection and to the renowned Mechatronik in Pleidelsheim, Germany where it was initially offered for sale. It then sold on The MB Market in July of 2025 to a Mercedes-Benz collector out of Atlanta, Georgia and was shipped stateside. This CLK is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over a rare Green & Anthracite Cloth (036). Power comes from the 2.3-liter supercharged 4-cylinder paired to a 5-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. This CLK is well-optioned with the Sport Package, heated front seats, Becker CD player, dual-zone climate control, a black power soft top, and a deployable roll bar that doubles as retractable rear head rests. In 2023 it received a comprehensive service including oil and filter, brake fluid and filter, a coolant flush, new spark plugs, a new air filter, and a new cabin filter. In the beginning of 2026, it was serviced again by a Mercedes-Benz independent in Marietta, Georgia with new engine oil and transmission fluid flush since the owner had finally broken in the engine and transmission 29 years later along with new Michelin tires. This rare CLK230 Kompressor is offered with collector-grade mileage on consignment by the selling dealer in Marietta, Georgia with supporting historic documents, the original datacard, factory literature, two keys, wind deflector, and a clean Georgia title.

It’s not often when you can buy a new-in-wrapper 28 year old Mercedes-Benz. If you ever wanted to know what A208 felt like fresh off the factory floor, now is one of your only chances to find out. This sub 1,000 km CLK230 Kompressor is something we never got here in the United States with the CLK320 being the smallest engine option available to us. We also only got the 722.6 five-speed automotive transmission and just a few leather interior color options. This is fascinatingly Euro-spec and for us Yanks, forbidden fruit. The five-speed manual transmission truly wakes the car up and is the perfect pairing with the M111K engine (one of our favorites from Mercedes-Benz) as you get to wring out the DOHC supercharged powerplant. With it having just 971 km the shifter also feels like new – much like the rest of the car. The patterned cloth interior is pure late ‘90s Frutiger Aero that makes driving it feel like you’re a hip German from the late ‘90s is your sports cabriolet. We’ve actually logged some kilometers on this car and we couldn’t stop smiling. We’ve owned all variants of the W208 CLK and this example is by far our favorite to drive.

This is another we've been VERY excited to bring back to market. A long-time client of ours bought the car here some months back with the absolute desire to experience a like-new CLK with a manual. Several hundreds of miles later, he has it back to us and back on the market. This time, however, it's in the U.S. and has been mechanically-assured by our friends with Stuttgart Steel. Please enjoy the fantastic photo shoot for this example, the thorough video, and let us know if any questions arise. We'll do our very best to answer in a timely manner. To those already thinking about bringing it home, GAS Motorcars has been in business for nearly 30 years. We're proud to say that our team of enthusiasts has been helping rehome cars like this regularly. We will be happy to keep the car stored inside for up to 2 weeks after the auction closes. We do provide a 45-day temporary tag for the buyer and can help ship by way of making introductions to several logistics companies. Good luck to all!Seriously impressive offering. Wish they made more of these with a 5-speed and green cloth interiors!
