This 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Silver Arrow was sold new by Helms Bros. Mercedes in New York and again as a Certified Pre-Owned example before relocating to Florida in 2005. Finished in Silver Arrow Metallic (777) over Black Nappa Leather (231) interior, power is provided by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. This R129 is 1 of 1,550 Silver Arrow editions offered for the North American market across all year models. Features include an electric folding soft-top, removable matching hardtop, Xenon headlights, electrically adjustable and heated seats, and illuminated door sills. Factory 18” Silver Arrow alloy wheels made by BBS are wrapped in Nexen N'Fera SU1 tires and measure 245/40 in the front and 275/35 in the rear. The Silver Arrow editions feature factory-drilled brake rotors and silver painted calipers.
The cabin is trimmed in two-tone Black and Silver (231) Nappa leather across the seats, door cards, head rests, shift knob, and steering wheel. Birdseye Maple wood accents adorn the door cards and center console. Additional features include automatic climate control, power adjustable and heated seats, and original silver leather trimmed floor mats. Unique Silver Arrow features include a brushed aluminum instrument cluster, aluminum trim on the shift gate and pedals, and illuminated door sills.
The two-tone, Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel frames instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer shows 25,293 miles. The gauges are trimmed with chrome rings and polished aluminum trim exclusive to the Silver Arrow.
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 engine was factory rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The included Carfax report shows 17 service history records.

The R129 is certainly poised as a proper modern classic especially when you consider it’s long tenure in the Mercedes lineup throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s. Combining the sharp Sacco-designed lines with the “Silver Arrow” nameplate and a limited production run was a definitive recipe for success, but moreover, designers found a way to bring the heritage and look of the 1930’s to the R129. The aluminium work surely stood out from the pack considering the parts it replaced were primarily black plastic and the paint, if you’ve ever seen it in person, is brighter than any other silver Mercedes offered. Essentially, the Silver Arrow found a way to bring the romance of the GT roadster full circle by combining modern functionality and timeless craftsmanship. This example is extra special as it has only 25k miles from new and presents as such. The next owner will have a premium Silver Arrow that doubles as a safe investment. If history has taught us anything, it's that limited production numbers combined and exclusive trim combined with the legendary lineage of the SL is surely a winning combination.

@bleek the first 15 pictures in the gallery show correct hood fitment very well on both sides. Probably during my video "production" I didn't close it properly after shooting the engine. The Silver Arrow paint is very difficult (if not close to impossible) to replicate paining one panel only, due to its pearlescent effect which it consistent all around the car, including the hard top as well. All gaps are straight and even throughout the whole car as well.Can you post some shots of the car from straight front and back. Can you comment on the hood fit. @Germanic Top's hydraulic system has been periodically serviced at the dealer according to the report and the manufacture's requirements. Adequate service and low miles don't warrant overhaul of components, as servicing requires correcting any functionality defects.
