The reserve in this auction is reasonable to an early German Pre-Merger as the car represents and @AMG5pt4 's expertise confirmed, as well as the very kind DM's received from other potential bidders. Having cams could potentially bring the price up as well which is great. I have not been able to have our tech come by and open a perfectly running, not leaking, serviced 41 year old car. @sirmathrocks The aerokit dates to 1983-1984 when the stamps where on the outside (see picture #40 for reference). After 1985 all stamps are on the inside on AMG body parts. This car remained in Europe for 10 years until 1993. Aerokit production numbers were very low at the beginning, making it unlikely to have been fitted after leaving Europe. Paint quality and age is also consistent all around the body with the aerokit. To me, paper is the strongest material in the Universe, it holds anything, I rather look at the material evidence on the car.

This is a very interesting early AMG SEL, the body kit’s front spoiler shows the AMG part number stamp on the outside, which was present only on very early AMG equipment, until they realized that the stamps should go on the inside for esthetic purposes in 1985. I think this adds to the conclusion that this car was built in Europe. Correct outside stamps are an extreme rare sight, and a fascinating feature in this SEL

@6thinline9 This car drives great, didn’t notice any rattles or noises while driving. Goes up to speed very quickly and you can let go the steering wheel on the expressway at speed. In the case of this car that is on its way to its new home, the harnesses have been replaced sometime and PPI by the buyer reflected correct functionality. @MBFahrer I just ordered a set (upper and lower) from a supplier in Europe for an R129, not OEM but very high standards and it is our duty to keep these cars alive for years to come. I will be happy to share the supplier if you are interested. @gsxr I agree with you. If the harnesses have been replaced, say midlife in the car, and the car has not been subject to a large amount if miles, or extreme heat after that, they should be still good; its just a matter of checking continuity and proper functionality. As you state, I haven't seen failure on a replaced set so far, unless the car has been owned by a medieval viking. Blueridge is a great option for repair/rebuild, they are true experts. I have a supplier in Europe that manufactures these with OEM quality standards, which is usually a better option to repairing.
@MBFahrer Harness seems to have been replaced sometime in the past. Car functions without electric or electronic issues at the time of this auction . Your statement of the harnesses being NLA is inaccurate as we have recently replaced M120 harnesses from several MB cars in the collection recently and have a harness set (top and bottom) for a rare M119 6.0 AMG on order and due to ship very soon. I suggest you check your supply chain (if any) again for ordering and availability. You are welcome to PPI this car before the auction ends at a local MB dealer or MB specialist repair facility at your cost.

If you pay attention to the detail and observe how the door panels and rear side panels are built, you can tell that this car has a lot more potential than what meets the eye and that a true effort has been invested in it. This is a car for the one that wants to have a fun, interesting project that will result in a very cool Pullman style Benz, to go out with some friends, to pick up conversations at car meets and even for a celebration. @TheAMGKit just sent the pictures of the back of the wheels to be uploaded. Centers have a serial number and are stamped made in Japan. I read about them in the MB forums and other source and due to the increased demand for AMG wheels in Japan in the 80's and 90's these wheels were built there with high quality alloys and more aggressive fitments and lips than the Germany supplied wheels.
@kokolomoush in my opinion the LWB has a stunning look when lowered, with an aerokit and proper wheels. you also benefit with added options like the reclining rear seats and better highway ride.
@TheAMGKit will look into it. They are not the Chinese Performas as the wheels on this car are multi piece with proper hardware. I’ll send some pics to MBM to upload in the coming days
@DW168 it does have tons of potential, the look and the stance is all there indeed. I am torn about the flares because they were such a popular period add on in the early 80's. Add yellow fog lamps to match the headlights and a paint job (I would keep the two tone) in this great 1980's theme.
Saw this car in person. It is all there like on day one when it was delivered new. A true time capsule. Will be following this sale very closely
@bleek the first 15 pictures in the gallery show correct hood fitment very well on both sides. Probably during my video "production" I didn't close it properly after shooting the engine. The Silver Arrow paint is very difficult (if not close to impossible) to replicate paining one panel only, due to its pearlescent effect which it consistent all around the car, including the hard top as well. All gaps are straight and even throughout the whole car as well.

@Bpower98 this car has zero rust. Was put away for winter every season. It will be ver hard for anyone to find a 140 chassis this clean and unmolested. It spent a lot of time in climate controlled storage and babied. I will prepare some undercarriage photos to upload.
@Germanic Top's hydraulic system has been periodically serviced at the dealer according to the report and the manufacture's requirements. Adequate service and low miles don't warrant overhaul of components, as servicing requires correcting any functionality defects. Soft top is operational without any issues as well as the releases of the hard top locks, please refer to the video as well. thank you

Regarding your questions: 1) Harness seems to be in perfect functioning condition as it is beyond the date range for this precise model. The way the engine idles and runs, shows that the harness is unmolested and in proper factory specification. 2) Radio function is also to par with specs, and considering this car's history and condition, I expect the installation to be professionally done with the highest standards. I have not removed the radio and honestly don't want to risk damaging the interior, to see how it was installed, if it's working well. 3) Video coming soon. @bleek the first 15 pictures in the gallery show correct hood fitment very well on both sides. Probably during my video "production" I didn't close it properly after shooting the engine. The Silver Arrow paint is very difficult (if not close to impossible) to replicate paining one panel only, due to its pearlescent effect which it consistent all around the car, including the hard top as well. Adequate service and low miles don't warrant overhaul of components, as servicing requires correcting any functionality defects. Regarding your questions: 1) Harness seems to be in perfect functioning condition as it is beyond the date range for this precise model. The way the engine idles and runs, shows that the harness is unmolested and in proper factory specification. 2) Radio function is also to par with specs, and considering this car's history and condition, I expect the installation to be professionally done with the highest standards. I have not removed the radio and honestly don't want to risk damaging the interior, to see how it was installed, if it's working well. 3) Video coming soon.
