This 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK32 AMG was sold new through Mercedes-Benz of Melbourne, Florida in December 2002. It remained with the original owner through 2011 under dealer service and regular maintenance. The current owner purchased the car this year from their father who has owned the SLK since 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over AMG Anthracite/Alpaca Gray Leather (888), this AMG Roadster is powered by a supercharged 3.2-liter M112 V6 paired to a five-speed automatic transmission with a pulley upgrade and tune from NeedsWings. The odometer currently shows 64k original miles and features include xenon headlamps, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a power folding hardtop, heated seats, an original Becker head unit, and an aftermarket head unit installed. The car is now being offered by the selling dealer on behalf of the current owner with a clean Carfax report showing regular service, the factory toolkit, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, a Mercedes-Benz picnic kit, and a clean Georgia title.
The exterior is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) and features AMG styling including sculpted bumpers, side skirts, and a lip spoiler on the decklid. Exterior features include a power folding hardtop, front fog lamps, and Xenon headlamps with integrated washers while the rear is finished with dual chrome AMG-stamped exhaust tips. A paint blemish is noted on the hood above the passenger headlamp and highlighted in the gallery below.
The factory staggered, dual-spoke 17” AMG wheels are fitted and wear Continental ExtremeContact tires measuring 17x7.5” in the front and 17x8.5” in the rear with 2019 date codes shown. The photos show curb rash and wear on the wheels and the dealer has agreed to have them refinished before the next owner takes delivery.
On the interior, the seats, steering wheel, shift knob, and door cards are upholstered in original AMG Anthracite and Alpaca two tone Leather (888) with an Anthracite upper dash and center console all accented by Alpaca deviated stitching. The center console shows some wear in the finish as normally seen on R170's around the rear of the console. Black Birdseye Maple veneer accents the center console, shift surround, and door cards with light fading visible on the portion around the shifter. The veneer shows no signs of cracks. Original SLK32 AMG floor mats showing the embroidered logo and foot pad are included in the sale and pictured in the gallery below.
The sculpted leather steering wheel frames a 180-mph analog speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and a digital odometer with trip function showing 64k miles. Additional gauges include fuel level and coolant temperature, along with a digital clock and temperature gauge. The digital LCD screens present as they should and show no signs of de-pixelation and no bulbs are out behind the cluster.
The AMG-tuned 3.2-liter M112 supercharged V6 was rated at 349 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired with a 722.6 automatic five-speed transmission. This example is fitted with an upgraded supercharger pulley and tune from NeedsWings for an estimated 395 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. The hand assembled power plant from Affalterbach features a twin-screw supercharger and dual intakes on either side of the engine. Approximately 562 SLK32 AMG’s were built for the 2003 model year.
The Carfax report lists no accidents or damage, linear mileage updates, and 16 service history records since new. This SLK32 AMG is now being offered with an included Carfax report, the factory toolkit, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, a Mercedes-Benz picnic kit, and a clean Georgia title.

@Vivek The transmission used is the same 5-speed 722.6 that is used in the W211 E55 AMG with the Supercharged M113K. They are known to be very robust and over built. I performed an ATF fluid change on this car prior to the engine modifications. The fluid was still reddish in color and did not exhibit any signs of excessive wear. The largest reliability concern with modifying these engines is heat soak which has been addressed on this R170 with the coolant separation kit and coolant additive. I prefer a more stock look to an MB engine bay, so I chose to go with a better flowing factory intake off of an SL55 for my own personal Kleemann K3 packaged C32 AMG.
@engineseugenio Thanks. My impression was also that the air intake would be the next “step up “. At some point I would be concerned about putting excessive power through the transmission. But, IDK.
@Vivek I was supplied with a new crankshaft bolt for the new pulley. A Mercedes crankshaft holder was used to reach the proper torque specification. I am located in Kennesaw, GA if any further modifications are desired. NeedsWings has a LONG list of modifications for this platform. The biggest restriction on the M112K would be the OEM intake/airbox. I would recommend their dual intake as the next step to take performance further. That being said, the car is in a really sweet spot right now. Perfectly composed and subtle as a daily driver but manic once you put your foot down. The owner has kept a binder documenting any work that was done by myself or others.

@engineseugenio Did you replace crank pulley bolts or reuse existing ones at install? Where are you based in case purchaser desires additional work? In looking at the NeedsWings site there appear to be other modifications that complement the work you did - do YOU have any specific recommendations for this car? @Gasmotorcars Any idea on cost of addressing the minor bodywork issue on the hood?
@EnginesEugenio Spot on and thanks for the help!
@BlueDevilBill I installed NeedsWings' Crankshaft Overdrive Kit, Intercooler Fluid Isolation Kit, and DEI Chill Charger coolant additive along with a supercharger oil flush on November 7th 2021 for this particular SLK32 AMG: https://www.needswings.com/asp-178mm-kit-psk178 https://www.needswings.com/needswings-intercooler-fluid-isolation-kit-c32 https://www.needswings.com/dei-chill-charger The only other "modification" I did for the owner would be Stoptech Drilled and Slotted front rotors and ceramic pads were done within the past 5k miles. I remember the car being the cleanest R170 I have worked on.

Hello. Can you tell me more about the NeedsWings tune and pulley? What size pulley? Stage 1 tune? When was that done? Any other mods? Also, has the Intercooler pump been replaced? Thanks.!
These cars are greatly underrated. Which is a good thing if you are looking for a two seater luxury/performance car. Prices are low, performance is high. The powertrain is solid – and – it can be driven as a convertible or hard top! I have owned one of these for the past two years, with no major expense and have enjoyed every mile.
@DelucaR It absolutely does wake up the car. It jumps off the line like an electric car and pulls like a savage all the way to redline. These engines are very impressive and incredibly slept on. Their time will definitely come.
Nice looking example, I seem to remember that tunes really wake these up.
