Having owned a CLK320, CLK430, and a CLK55 Cabrio, this example of the w208 CLK55 is just about as close to a museum piece as you can get. The smell is correct, interior materials feel as they should, and the car drives super healthy. Bid with confidence on this car and good luck to everyone today!
@Vivek The transmission used is the same 5-speed 722.6 that is used in the W211 E55 AMG with the Supercharged M113K. They are known to be very robust and over built. I performed an ATF fluid change on this car prior to the engine modifications. The fluid was still reddish in color and did not exhibit any signs of excessive wear. The largest reliability concern with modifying these engines is heat soak which has been addressed on this R170 with the coolant separation kit and coolant additive. I prefer a more stock look to an MB engine bay, so I chose to go with a better flowing factory intake off of an SL55 for my own personal Kleemann K3 packaged C32 AMG.
@Vivek I was supplied with a new crankshaft bolt for the new pulley. A Mercedes crankshaft holder was used to reach the proper torque specification. I am located in Kennesaw, GA if any further modifications are desired. NeedsWings has a LONG list of modifications for this platform. The biggest restriction on the M112K would be the OEM intake/airbox. I would recommend their dual intake as the next step to take performance further. That being said, the car is in a really sweet spot right now. Perfectly composed and subtle as a daily driver but manic once you put your foot down. The owner has kept a binder documenting any work that was done by myself or others.
@BlueDevilBill I installed NeedsWings' Crankshaft Overdrive Kit, Intercooler Fluid Isolation Kit, and DEI Chill Charger coolant additive along with a supercharger oil flush on November 7th 2021 for this particular SLK32 AMG: https://www.needswings.com/asp-178mm-kit-psk178 https://www.needswings.com/needswings-intercooler-fluid-isolation-kit-c32 https://www.needswings.com/dei-chill-charger The only other "modification" I did for the owner would be Stoptech Drilled and Slotted front rotors and ceramic pads were done within the past 5k miles. I remember the car being the cleanest R170 I have worked on.
