This 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL550 shows one owner from new with registration reported in California and 90k miles on the odometer. Finished in Storm Red Metallic (541) over Stone Beige Nappa Leather (251), power is provided by a 5.5-liter V8 mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a power-folding hardtop, Bi-Xenon headlamps, Keyless-Go, heated and ventilated multicontour seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 6-disc CD changer and a Bose audio system. Recent maintenance included new front lower control arms and ball joints along with a new radiator and upper radiator hose. The original window sticker is included showing an MSRP of over $100k. This 2007 SL550 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the original owner with the original window sticker, manufacturer's literature, a Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The body is finished in Storm Red Metallic (541) and features a power-folding hardtop which folds into the trunk. Exterior features include automatic Bi-Xenon headlamps, corner-illuminating front fog lamps, a mesh wind deflector, power door mirrors and Keyless-Go. The Carfax lists damage in 2013 and 2016 to the front and rear of the car with the seller noting only minor paint chips and scratches currently visible in the paint.
The 18” 10-spoke alloy wheels are fitted with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport All Season tires which measure 255/40 front and 285/35 rear with date codes reading 2019 and 2023 respectively. Signs of curb rash are present on the wheels. The Active Body Control suspension provides driver-selectable ride height and stiffness with records showing a front accumulator being replaced in 2021.
The cabin is trimmed in Stone Beige Nappa Leather (541) with matching beige floor mats and carpets while Chestnut wood trim lines the center console, steering wheel and door panels. Both seats are heated and ventilated with multicontour adjustment and position memory. Additional interior amenities include a dash-mounted digital clock, a COMAND infotainment system with DVD navigation, a 6-disc CD changer, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start and an 8-speaker Bose audio system.
The wood leather steering wheel fronts analog instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital instrumentation shows the current odometer at 90k miles, all of which have been added by the original owner.
This R230 is powered by a 32-valve 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 which is rated for 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. Maintenance was performed by a Mercedes-Benz dealer through 2016 with later service performed by the selling dealer. The included records show the replacement of the transmission valve body, a new starter, new front lower control arms, a new radiator, a recent oil change and more. Recent service records are viewable in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows one owner from new with registration reported in California along with linear mileage updates. This 2007 SL550 is now offered by the selling dealer on behalf of the original owner with the original window sticker and a clean California title in the original owner’s name.
It doesn’t get much more iconic than a Mercedes-Benz SL with the top down. Through the ages we’ve watched the 300SL, the Pagoda, the R107, and R129, all steal the show in their own rights from silver screen stardom to pop culture flash. We like to think SL550’s like this Storm Red example have identified a way to capture the SL’s legacy through unique styling cues, soft lines, and classic color combinations. Owned and cared for by its original owner, this SL550 shows an exceptional condition and comes with nearly seven years of detailed maintenance addressing any and all issues throughout its life. Given its California pedigree and unique color combination, this R230 is sure to provide many more years of joyous top-down driving.

@RDM7533 Thank you for the Interest! According to our records, rear pads & sensor were replaced at approximately 76k. I don't see anything regarding front brakes, but neither need replacement for the foreseeable future. With minimal time remaining in this auction, & a shop full of customer cars awaiting repairs, I doubt I'll be able to get any underside photos. Rest assured, our reputation means the world to us especially being a 30 year old Mercedes-Benz repair facility. This vehicle shows no signs of rust & is extremely clean/dry.
Would it be possible to provide any undercarriage photos? When were brakes and rotors last done? Thank you and good luck.

This is the very nice SL, enjoying of the service of Clifton Mercedes many years, all the service what they made to my cars were fully professional , they totally ledjet
@JohnSW we do see convertible issues from time to time and it's usually the leaking latch hydraulic rams. We replace them with factory parts, but I've heard from many other enthusiasts that there is a company (in Oregon I believe) that actually sells refurbished hydraulic rams at a fraction of the cost & they have had great success with them. Myself, I've personally owned five r230 chassis SL cars and only had to replace a leaking front latch. You hear more "horror stories" from the people who buy the cars that have not been loved over the years unfortunately. My best recommendation is to find a knowledgeable "indy" in your area whom you can have at the ready if anything is needed down the road. I actually see way more new Mercedes models pass through the shop needing tremendous amounts of repairs, versus the older Mercedes models. If you do end up with the winning bid, we do not have any additional fees. What you bid is what you pay. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
Thank you for your candid response. My remaining concern is with the top. If I win the bidding (and I surpass the reserve), I'll fly there and return the car to Oregon. That makes it unlikely I could turn to you if I have a problem with the top. Perhaps you can advise me if my concerns have merit or have I been reading too many "MB Forum Horror" stories. I assume the largest number of top issues have to do with leaking cylinders? Most advise to replace (refurbish) all cylinders together? Is this a common repair for your shop? The system seems quite complex, is it difficult to identify the area of breakdown or does it require someone knowledgeable to determine the "best" fix? I'm guessing a MB Independent in my area (or even dealers) see fewer of these breakdowns than you or other California, Texas and Florida shops. Is the top addressed sufficiently by your diagnostic tools, that other shops might use, as well? Oh, and if I win and fly there are there additional State or dealer fees that I am responsible for, if I pick the car up? Thank You
@JohnSW Thank you so much for the very kind words of praise! All of our team strives for complete customer satisfaction & treats each vehicle as if it were their own. Plus it helps when all of our team is extremely detail oriented. This car has not required many variotop repairs. We did fluid servicing on the system, replaced the pair of trunk support struts, & did a trunk latch replacement. We went to electronic records in 2016 & we may have something in the hard files from a year or two earlier. Other than that it may have had some roof repairs at the MB dealership. I've operated the top multiple times over the past month when I've taken the vehicle out, & it operates quiet / smoothly.
First allow me to commend you on your professional reputation. 5 Stars on Yelp is almost impossible for anyone in the "car business". The reviews don't just extoll your workmanship, but your sense of being in the customers shoes..... Anyway, I confess I didn't go through every repair order, but for me the two major concerns are ABC and Roof systems. You've addressed the ABC. Is the top fluid clear and clean? Have any of the cylinders or sensors been replaced or examined for need of attention.
@Bencolem the pulsation damper, tandem hydraulic pump, suspension filters, both accumulators have been replaced by us. Previous work done by Mercedes Benz we do not have records of.
Have any of the struts been replaced yet and has any work been done on the ABC system?
@bzcat They were low speed impacts & more cosmetic than anything. If you didn't review the carfax it would be hard to tell any repairs were ever done.
@scscarborough thank you for the Interest!
Do you have any information on the 2 damage reports noted in carfax?
Great looking 2007 SL550. I'll be watching with interest. GLWTA, @socaltires. ✌️
