This 2006 Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI is finished in Black (040) over Stone (135) MB-Tex upholstery, and powered by a 3.2-liter OM648 DOHC turbodiesel inline-six cylinder engine. Equipment includes the Premium Package, an electric sunroof, power-adjustable heated front seats with memory function, dual-zone automatic climate control, the elegance package, cruise control, auto-dimming mirrors, an electric rear roller blind, folding rear seats, and a COMAND infotainment system with navigation. The car was first delivered to Mercedes-Benz of Annapolis, Maryland where it was purchased new by the current owner in July 2006 for $55,075. Receipts totaling approximately $16,000 worth of mechanical service within the past five years are included with the sale and detailed below. This one-owner W211 has 172k miles and is offered on behalf of the seller’s mother with the original window sticker, original purchase order, all service records since new, factory literature, stamped service booklets, a Carfax report, and a clean Maryland title.
The bodywork is finished in Black (040) and features fog lamps, an electric sunroof, tinted glass and chrome accents. Close-up photographs of the finish, trim, and exterior lighting can be seen in the gallery below. The “minor damage” reported on the Carfax in 2014 was the result of the rear bumper being scratched by another vehicle at a stoplight. The scratch was touched up and is still visible in the gallery below. This CDI has had no paintwork other than the touch-up for rock chips and the aforementioned rear bumper scrape.
The 16″ five double-spoke wheels are mounted with 225/55 Continental ContiProContact tires installed by the dealer in 2019. The car was equipped from the factory with a four-link independent suspension with AntiDrive Geometry in the front and a 5-Arm MultiLink Independent suspension in the rear. This W211 also features four-wheel disc brakes, and speed-sensitive steering. Significant service in 2021 by Mercedes-Benz of Fairfield included the replacement of both front lower control arms, both thrust arms and new rear brakes and brake rotors at a cost of $3,285. New rear coil springs were installed by Mercedes-Benz of Annapolis in 2020 at a cost of over $660; with new front brake pads and rotors being replaced by the same dealer in 2018 for $813.
The cabin features seats trimmed in Stone (135) MB-Tex along with a matching dashboard, door panels, carpets, and burled walnut root accents. The fronts seats are heated and 10-way power-adjustable with 3 position memory, and other equipment includes a Harmon-Kardon Logic 7 surround sound stereo system with an in-dash CD changer, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, auto-dimming mirrors, a heated screen washing system, an electric rear sunshade, and a COMAND infotainment system with navigation. In addition to the Elegance package, this example was optioned with the split-loading rear seats feature which allows the rear seats to be folded completely flat in line with the trunk floor for increased cargo capacity.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a 5k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and digital auxiliary gauges showing coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 172k miles; all of which have been added by the current, single-owner.
This CDI is powered by a 3.2-liter OM648 DOHC turbodiesel inline-six featuring direct injection and rated at 201 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when new. The glow plugs and glow plug module were replaced by the dealer in 2017 for $1,922, and the water pump and coolant suction fan were also replaced in 2012. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission with Touch Shift to allow for independent gear selection. The shifter control unit assembly was replaced by the dealer in 2020 for $1,624 and the M55 inlet motor was replaced (and intake cleaned) at the same time for $1,577.
The dealer service records document that the owner spent approximately $16,000 in preventative maintenance on this CDI in just the past five years. A list of those services are shown in the full gallery below.
The window sticker lists optional equipment, delivery to Mercedes-Benz of Annapolis, MD, and a total retail price of $55,075.
The One-Owner Carfax report shows over 30 regular service visits, linear mileage updates and registration exclusive to Annapolis, MD. A driving and walkraound video are viewable below.
A cold start video showing the operation of the injectors (with the engine cover removed) is viewable below.
The legend of Mercedes’ diesel reliability and longevity was really born of the W123 chassis sedans and wagons of the 1980s and continued unblemished throughout the W124 and W210 chassis cars of the 1990s. When it was introduced in 2004, the E320 CDI was the first Mercedes-Benz diesel to grace showrooms since the 1999 E300 TD and the brief hiatus was well worth it. Enthusiasts and collectors have known for years that - for a brief period in the mid-2000s – Mercedes had hit “peak diesel” with the e320 CDI before tumbling down the sad, disappointing road of BLUEtec debacle. These immensely reliable turbo-diesel platforms produce nearly 370 ft-lbs of torque and allow for up to 700 miles between fill-ups on a single tank. With plenty of power, legendary reliability and near-hybrid levels of efficiency, the limited run of these E320 CDIs produced from 2004-06 have become much sought-after, and for good reason. However, finding one that hasn’t been abused in its role as a reliable workhorse is nearly impossible given that the aforementioned factors. This example, with its one-owner history, impeccable condition and fastidious service and preventative maintenance record, is ready to run another few hundred thousand miles without blinking an eye; and it will do so while still looking like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Finding a Mercedes diesel isn’t hard. But finding another one-owner, final-year E320 CDI that has been loved and maintained like this one will be nearly impossible.

Thanks to everyone who has bid thus far or contacted me offline to ask about the car. I’ll be standing by to answer any additional questions over the next few hours. Also, it should be highlighted that this car comes with two working smart-keys (with freshly installed batteries) and it also includes the spare tire, unused jack-stand, original unused tool kit/roll, and a full set of additional fuses from Mercedes-Benz. All items are present and stored in their proper location under the trunk floor/liner. I can honestly say that this is one of the best-loved E320 CDIs I’ve ever seen and the immaculate condition and impressive service history certainly shows that. I have no doubt the next owner will be extremely impressed with it. Thanks in advance and Good Luck to all!

@Bamboo Thank you! These E320 CDIs are really special cars. The last great MB diesel, in my opinion, and hard to find in the final year (2006) iteration; especially as a one-owner example. The condition of this car in particular is exceptional: For instance, note that the fabric driver's door sill is still like new (even at this mileage) because a cloth was kept draped over it since day one to prevent soiling from your shoes when entering the vehicle! Truly a well-loved car that has easily another few hundred thousand miles of life to give! Thanks again and good luck to all bidders!

Nice car. Glws. Killing me that my son crashed my black jade effect 2005 CDI. Never seen one in that color again.
