Will140 bid $13,500

My 600 coupe is VIN 338xxx build date 8/96; interesting that this "end of summer 96" is 15,000 #s beyond mine. In NA at least, any 140 coupe produced before roughly the 1/97 timeframe was labaled "S." Inquiring minds would love to know what the "tune" is. 50 extra HP sounds like software mods. Would happily explore it on mine if an option. Super model! Have never seen AMG put this steering wheel or these later Monoblocks on a 140. Makes sense though from what was out there by midway through the 97 model year. Also SUPER info from seller. This kind of documentation does not come easily.
WOW! I thought about bidding if I could get it for $2500, I think my 97 with 200k needs a torque converter. I guess I will just rebuild mine. You guys have fun! lol PS: make sure to do a trans service including new conductor plate, and the spring that failed on the early 722.6 if it wasn't done under warranty.
Close-ups of all the paint chips/dents/imperfections would be helpful. What level is the tint? Do we know the issue with the radio? Did the Sport come with special springs? I thought it did but I may be wrong. Looks about 1" lower, could just be the Monoblocs.
Ahh yes, cassette aux is what I have for use in other cars. I have looked at (all) these pics 2 or 3 times, but I saw what looked like a CD changer under the flap. In looking again, it looks like it must pivot both ways to open to a changer as well as cassette - confirm? Unfamiliar with this stereo. Thanks!
@ariotofmyown thanks. I am keeping my eye on this car as a no-fuss, reliable cruiser so I don't have to keep beating up my 97 V12 on road trips. Of course I would want to use my portable hi-res music device in it, so I'm not sure what bluetooth options (but preferably Aux) might be available. On my S, all I did was pull the factory unit, and the Pioneer reference-standard unit was 100% plug-and-play with the then-premium Bose amp and speakers, and sounds amazing. I am trying to figure out the can of worms that one may open trying anything similar on this car.
Ad states "Harmon Kardon without the Nav," but I do not see HK on the options list, nor on the speaker covers - so I am pretty sure this is the all-around base sound system?
Nice car, worth the money, really didn't want to be above $12,500 with fees and shipping and couldn't beat back the biddlng war. Congrats to buyer and seller.
I wish my Eltanins were in that good of shape, and I wish my car was that color, but at 2 and a half tons, I'll keep my M120! Truly though, with this spec, who cares about the 4.2 - cruise all day long with good MPG and get stares galore. Total beauty.
Six figures easily... $40k car 5 years ago.
