This 1969 Mercedes-Benz 250 was originally delivered to a dealer in the Southeast is now offered by the selling dealer in Georgia. This example was sold by the selling dealer on The MB Market in January of 2022 and is now offered on consignment. Finished in Dark Red (542) over Black MB-Tex, power is provided by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-6 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This 250 has undergone preventative servicing including a new air conditioning compressor, new seals and gaskets, a new radiator, a new fan and fan clutch, a new battery, and new radiator hoses. Features include factory air conditioning, an original Becker Europa radio, and manual windows in the front and rear. This example shows 15k miles with true mileage unknown and is offered with service records, factory literature, an original tool kit, one key, and a clean Georgia title.

The body is finished in Dark Red (542) and features original body panels repainted in factory Dark Red paint. The underside and frame show no evidence of accidents or previous damage. All the original trim appears to be present and the glass is all original as well with no signs of cracks or pitting. Exterior features include an antenna, a driver’s side wing mirror, and polished windshield washer nozzles. The exterior shows two scratches in the paint behind the passenger side rear wheel and the right side headlamp bezel shows a crack. Detailed photos are highlighted in the gallery below.

This example shows original 14x5.5” wheels wrapped in Hankook Whitewall tires measuring 185/75 on all four corners. Paint matched Dark Red (542) hubcaps remain in good shape and show no rash or bends.

The cabin is upholstered in Black MB-Tex across the seats, door cards, armrests, head rests, and shift boot. The seats and shift boot were recovered in November of 2021. The cabin also features new carpets throughout including the trunk and spare tire cover. Sisal Cocomats are in place in all four footwells and the center console features controls for the factory air conditioning and heat. The original Becker Europa radio is in place and functions. The front seats are manually adjusted along with the front and rear windows and seatbelts are in place for both front seats and two in the rear.

The original black steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. Set between the two gauges is a quartz-movement clock. The odometer shows 15k miles, approximately 100 of which have been added by the seller since acquiring in 2022. It’s assumed the odometer has rolled over once since new.

The M114 2.5-liter inline-6 is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. Output was rated at 128 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque when new. Recent service within the last two years includes new seals and gaskets, a new radiator, a new fan and fan clutch, and a new air conditioning compressor. More recently new radiator hoses were installed and a new battery.

The MB Market Insights

Rust-free W114’s and W115’s are becoming increasingly harder to find every year. For decades this utilitarian sedan wasn’t as collectible as the W108’s and seemingly lingered in the Sonderklasse shadow for too long. In recent years a younger crowd has found themselves drawn to the size and affordability of the W114’s. The Dark Red over Black is a very striking color combination and rarely seen. It's apparent this 250 has been owned with care proper attention making it the one to buy. There’s a lot to like about this specific example, maybe most of all we enjoy seeing a well sorted driver-spec car with three pedals. While it’s no performance sedan, these cars symbolize Mercedes-Benz style and reliability from a time when technology wasn’t king but build quality and comfort reigned supreme.
