A cold start video has been added to the listing along with photos added to the gallery showing all four jackpoints.
Hi everyone! As you all know the auction is ending today. I have added a cold start video and also some pics that i jacked the car up on all jackpoints
@570TE looks like this car was ordered with rear spoiler delete code 262. Research suggests that it was a Switzerland thing but here is another swiss 500slc that did not have the 262 option and came with the rear spoiler WDB10702612002730

@sitmathrocks re the alloy deck lid... It's been stated below.... M-B stamped the aluminum alloy decklids with the holes already in them for the spoiler. In cases of the "spoiler delete," this required the use of the normal steel decklid rather than the aluminum one. In addition, the steel deck lid already had the holes in it for the chrome deck lid handle, so a "spoiler delete" also got you the chrome handle that would otherwise have been missing on the alloy deck lid. Hope that helps.

@sirmathrocks i think its aluminum like the hood. But let me confirm that on Monday.
@sirmathrocks ac works and so does the sunroof.
@Saildoc i’ll see what i can do on Monday before the auction ends.
Also can anyone confirm that trunk is steel and not aluminum because of factory delete rear spoiler?
Sunroof work Ok? AC blows cold? Also would appreciate it if you can respond to what @saildoc asked below
Thanks for the paint meter readings-can you post door jamb readings as a reference. It looks like the car has had some body work in a couple of sports. It would be great to get the car up on a lift and post photos of the under body. There is definitely some rust-can’t tell if there is any structural issues with it. It would be awesome to put the factory jack into the those rusty jack points and lift the car to demonstrate the soundness of the rocker corners that do show some rust. Can’t tell if it is just surface rust.
@sirmathrocks im sure that the stereo was added along the way but not sure if it came with a factory sound system or not. The stereo in there is period correct so must have been installed a while back. there are only surface rust no holes or anything. If this went through dry ice blasting the underside would be mint. We did dry ice on a number of our vehicles and Im sure this will be as new if dry iice will be done by the new owner. Or we can have our detail place do it for you, you can pay them directly. As this is a consignment unit the owner is confident that interested parties will want to see how it is before anyone wants to really prep it to carshow condition.
Is rust an issue on the car based on the all the pics uploaded? Also did the car not come with a stereo system originally and the Grundig was added down the road?
@ottobenz Hi! Been driving this car alot. Breaking is fine, i have no doubts that the abs works. Just never floored the breaks as if avoiding an eminent rear end collision, tires screeching and all… but hard breaking you feel the abs working with very light pulses that you feel.
what a beautiful C107 coupe... last year, best spec of all C107s. I own a 1980 450SLC in the same colors, but mine has blue velour seats, and unfortunately the federalized 4.5L with only 160hp. This stunner would run circles around it. I see this car has ABS, which had been launched by MB in the fall of 1978 for 1979 models (W116). I see the unit under the hood to the left of the radiator as well. Curious, does the system work? No doubt the foundation brakes work just fine, but have you actually stomped on the pedal to see if the customary pulsing actually happens? I mean, the control unit is 44 years old, and is from the very early days of modern ABS. Heck, radios don't usually last 44 years without some fault. It would be a miracle if the every element of the ABS system is fully functioning 44 years later. Good luck with the auction!
Additional photos showing the underbody and stamped service booklet have been added to the gallery along with a driving video.
Driving video, underside pix and mileage consistent while service from kms to mi ( Swiss mb service to US MB Service) are going to be added shortly Thanks
Hi everyone. This car always had the original badge as long as my friend had it. So somewhere along the line if it didn’t have a badge from the factory someone put the original 500slc badge on it. Like I said i will also add service records. Last few years we did ourselves with our mechanic. No receipts for that but it was all disclosed here. Videos and additional photos coming.
Beautiful SLC! @Silverarrowauto, Undercarriage photos are absolutely necessary and any maintenance history should also be added to the listing. Considering the scant details in the Carfax, the near 30-year owner should have an extensive file of records 😉
@570TE The Carfax is already provided in the listing. Just click the Carfax logo under the Quick Facts section. Hope that helps!
Re: the rear badge – I used to a do a fair amount if gray-market importing in the early 80s and while debadging was —and continues to be—a popular stealth move for Autobahn cruisers in Europe, it was never as well accepted here, particularly in the look-at-me 80s. It was not uncommon for badges to be added back on by the conversion shop. That's one possible explanation. Also, if the RR quarter was repainted (no meter readings to confirm or deny), they could have been added at that time as well. A nearly 30-year owner should be able to clarify.
@SilverArrowAuto thanks for your responses and added photos. Based on your photos and paint readings, it seems the LF Fender and RR Quater panel have been repainted. Would you agree? Can you please post the clean Carfax? Thank you for the discussion of the "No Spoiler". Yes, that's the reason for the steel trunk lid. Normally it would be aluminum along with the hood... But what about the "no rear badging"? Are the undercarriage photos still coming? They should show the catalytic converters added during federalization.
@thembmarket thanks
Photos showing the underside of the rear seats have been added to the gallery.
Paint meter photos have just been added. I also took photos of under the rear seat which will also be added shortly.
Paint meter readings have been added to the gallery.
@570TE it didn’t come with the rear spoiler. Swiss versions dont come with them. Yes original is in kms, swapped to mph cluster upon arrival but based on original cluster in kms converted to mph. I have docs to upload proving the consistency.

Per the decoding, specification 260 says "Without rear Badging" but the car has a 500 SE C badge that looks fabricated... any explanation? Also, photo 150 shows ~64k MILES. But this car was originally SWISS delivered so would have originally been KM. Is the original odometer available to show KMs accumulated prior to conversion to the MILES odometer? Is there a date code on the spare tire?
Hi everyone! Ive sent some paint meter photos, just waiting for it to get uploaded here. Other photos and requests will get done today. Thanks.

@silverarrowauto there are two red buttons to push in and then lever the bottom of the seat gently out. Reason for asking is I have seen pristine SLC’s with rotten floors in there because the jalousie windows let in water behind the trim and under the rear seat.
@Kfossum . Let me see what i can do to take the rear seats off.
@Saildoc . I will post paint meter readings and undercarriage photos soon thanks!
Would it be possible to take the bottom of the backseat out and show what the floor underneath looks like?

Cool car, what is missing from this extensive listing are underbody shots and paint depth readings, could the seller please add these?
